00:00Holland and Shannon, you know, this is gonna be a great matchup. One is
00:07exceptional on the offensive end, Shannon is. Distance 44 and 28 a year ago and
00:14just a remarkable turnaround after having the worst record in franchise
00:18history. Chris Finch has done a tremendous job really when you look at
00:22both of these franchises and a bottle flush as Smith on a basket cut and a
00:28dive. Stops elsewhere in the NBA including some time with the Memphis
00:33Grizzlies. Lanier for three. I told y'all he can shoot that. That footwork is still
00:38evident in the ways he moves but his shot blocking instincts and raw
00:42athleticism that has been making the T-wolves just make it. He had 20 points on Thursday in the win over New Orleans and that baseline jumper is down. Built their
00:56culture based on defense. It's amazing how it carries over into summer league and
01:01and when players get drafted to come to those teams they know it's defense first.
01:06Pistons a nine-point lead.
01:10Dropped it around and captured by Clintman but a poor outlet pass stolen by Miller. He attacks. Big collision.
01:21Blocking foul. Score. And one.
01:26Isaiah what is what is the key to throwing a pass to a big man? Here's Holland exploding to the rim but he's denied.
01:36And good collapsing defense by the Pistons trying to work in transition the other way. Holland a Euro step. He fires and hits.
01:43A Euro has it off the glass. And acts for it won by Shannon in the corner. His three is through.
01:52Shannon connecting with a three ball to fully. Timberwolves with in one and a nice driving finish by Dennis Jenkins.
02:01He's averaging 20 and a half here in summer league. Shannon steps through. The whistle. Yes! And the foul.
02:09Nas Reid will be back as well.
02:13But Minnesota trying to take that step to get to the NBA Finals.
02:19Two minutes remaining in the first quarter.
02:22Minnesota has not led and there's Shannon.
02:24A lot of times when you're working on your weaknesses in front of an audience, you don't want to really show your weak spots.
02:38Carry in the summer league. And a score.
02:41Flares it out. Open three. Long.
02:45Zakarski breaks in the rebound.
02:47Dillingham. Euro.
02:48Reverse layup is in.
02:49I'm joined by Terrence Shannon Jr.
02:52And you're coming off of a 24-point performance.
02:54Now nine points in this first quarter.
02:57What's fueling your offense here in summer league?
02:59Just making the right reads.
03:02Knowing when to be aggressive. Knowing when to pass to my teammates.
03:04But my teammates are doing a good job getting me open by spacing the floor.
03:07And knocking down open shots when I give it to them.
03:10You've been aggressive as well with one still already.
03:13As a two-way player, how important is that for you to showcase your versatility?
03:16You know, I'm just, that's where it starts.
03:21That's how I'm going to play.
03:22Just playing defense.
03:23And I've got to do a better job of it the rest of this game and going forward.
03:26So that's something I've been working on and focusing on.
03:29And I just plan to showcase that.
03:32Clintman floats it up.
03:33Back iron.
03:34Can't get his own miss.
03:36And a running rebound taken by Dillingham.
03:38He lost.
03:39Bereshae with the flush.
03:41Spotted him.
03:42Coming up court and then waited for him to catch up.
03:44Holland turns it over.
03:46Dillingham again.
03:47Again.
03:48And then nice recovery.
03:51Well, and Dillingham also has the benefit.
03:53You were talking about a veteran team.
03:55You talk about a really good veteran.
03:58Dillingham gets that to.
03:59Miller misses both free throws.
04:02Timberwolves are their first lead of the game.
04:04Jenkins drop off.
04:04Clintman with the slam.
04:05Bayley.
04:11Quick pull up.
04:13An offensive rebound and a finish.
04:15Jesse Edwards.
04:16Well, in the third quarter, you guys have been able to come and explode on offense.
04:20What's working so well that you're seeing?
04:22I just think we're hanging our head on defense.
04:24I think Coach V emphasized that we've got three stops to start the third.
04:27So we just got to keep doing that.
04:29And what are you challenging yourself with personally?
04:31Just being the best defender I can be.
04:33Being the best big out here I can be.
04:35And just helping my team win.
04:40And the turnovers continue here at the top of the third quarter.
04:43Holland in traffic.
04:44Berenje with the rejection.
04:47Clark in the lane.
04:49Shannon passes on the three.
04:50Attacks off glass.
04:52He's in double figures with 10.
04:58Clinton.
05:00Offensive rebound.
05:01Lanier for three.
05:02It's through.
05:03It's been fun to watch him improve game to game.
05:06And he's the head of the snake of this offense.
05:08As you're seeing him with the ball right now, organizing the offense.
05:11Saying he sets up everyone for success on this squad.
05:14And Holland, last year for the Pistons, played 81 games.
05:20Oh, nifty reverse.
05:22Pretty finish by him.
05:23Only 11 last year.
05:28Here's Dillingham.
05:30Leaner.
05:30Yes.
05:32In the mid-range, he's got the floaters.
05:33He's got the dribble moves.
05:35And again, they want him to be more of a leader out on the floor.
05:39Run the offense.
05:40It's 43, under six remaining in quarter number three.
05:44Dillingham, cutting back door, reversing, and the foul.
05:50Dillingham, five to shoot.
05:52Contact, no whistle.
05:54Shots off, but tipped in.
05:56Rocko's in.
06:00Pick and roll.
06:01Lobb, the well-defended by Berenger.
06:04And an extra pass.
06:06Holland, on the bounce, against Newt, to the cup.
06:12Banks it in.
06:13And he can score from a lot of different angles when he gets to the basket.
06:18Off, left or right foot.
06:20Miller, a three.
06:21Yes.
06:24Ron Holland, he's been on a tear in the third quarter.
06:26And, you know, the next step for him, heading into year two,
06:29is on the defensive end, actually.
06:30This note, Bob Lanier has had his number retired by two teams, Detroit and Milwaukee.
06:37Two-on-one.
06:38Newton, drop-off.
06:40Dillingham, the finish.
06:41He's not good basketball either.
06:43When the big guy has a small guy pinned underneath the rim.
06:47Give him the back.
06:48Berenger.
06:49A rejection.
06:50Clark, for three.
06:55Yes.
06:56Largest lead of the game for Minnesota this afternoon.
07:02Bailey, trying to create.
07:04Oh, this is no.
07:07Get that out of here.
07:09Was he always this way or has he improved and gotten better?
07:13I think he has improved.
07:16Edwards sticking with it.
07:17No finish, but then the offensive rebound, and Miller with the finish.
07:22Yeah, there are a lot of stories, a lot of things Rick Mahorn says that you can't put on air.
07:28Long two for Shannon.
07:30And the rebound to Minnesota.
07:33Miller trying to get the step against Clinton.
07:36Goes to the rack and goes off glass.
07:40Leonard Miller, turnover.
07:42Bucket.
07:43Nice.
07:44Miller, back-to-back buckets.
07:46Now, the concentration level on the defensive end starts to lapse, and you end up with good shots and buckets like that.
07:55Clark hits the three, seven percent shooting and forced 21 turnovers.
08:00Make it 22 turnovers.
08:02Clark, three on one.
08:03Lead feed.
08:05Shannon.
08:06Come on, come on.
08:07Autumn's got a full notebook.
08:09Several, probably.
08:10Shot clock off.
08:11Final 15 seconds.
08:12Very impressive defensive effort by Minnesota.
08:22Jenkins misses a three, boarded by Clark, but a loose ball foul Minnesota.
08:27Clark pushed off in order to get that rebound.
08:31Loose ball foul.
08:33Clark.
08:33It's the first Minnesota foul in the last two minutes, so no free throws coming here.
08:48Clinton.
08:49There's three in and out.
08:52And that brings us to the final horn.
08:55And Minnesota, an 89-73 victory over the Detroit Pistons.
08:59Minnesota is now a perfect 3-0.
09:03They get a game-high 24 from Terrence Shannon, Jr.
09:07my team.
09:08I love you, sir.
09:08I love you.
09:09I love you.
09:09That's the best you'll be.
09:10I love you.
09:12I don't like this.
09:13I love you.
09:13I love you.
09:14I love you.
09:14I love you, sir.
09:15I love you, man.
09:16I love you.
09:16I love you, man.
