00:00What's up? Paul here from Guitar World. Now last time I was here I showed you a smart tech and
00:10eco-friendly acoustic electric called the Blue Lava Touch with an integrated touchscreen display.
00:15This time around I'll be showing you a more streamlined version of this visionary acoustic
00:19electric guitar by Lava Music that's guaranteed to appeal to both casual and seasoned players,
00:25as well as tech-savvy guitarists. This is the brand new Blue Lava called the Blue Lava Original. Let's check it out.
00:41The Blue Lava Original is the latest acoustic electric from Lava and it comes in a compact
00:46lightweight weatherproof body with a beautifully matched walnut frost white color which is perfect
00:53for an on-the-go guitar for all types of players. Now a little background Lava Music is a music
00:58technology company that started in 2013. Lava is known for designing and developing musical
01:03instruments with new materials and innovative acoustic structures but more importantly Lava
01:08has been laser focused on the integration of technology and art in order to make music creation
01:13easier and more enjoyable for users as evidenced by the revolutionary Lava Me 3 and Blue Lava Touch
01:21guitars. You can check my earlier videos to see and hear these guitars in action and if you wish to
01:26hear the community of users playing these guitars check out their very cool Lava Plus app.
01:34What sets the Blue Lava Original from the others is its pared-down simplicity combined with a stunning
01:40sound using Lava Music's signature L2 preamp with free boost and its four-mass technology construction.
01:48Rather than an integrated touchscreen, the Blue Lava Original provides onboard chorus, delay and
01:54reverb effects that generate a full and ambient tone which offers an immersive sound experience.
02:07Let's quickly go over the highlights of this amazing guitar. At only 3.7 pounds this 36-inch acoustic electric
02:14guitar is light on your hands and shoulders whether you're playing or carrying it around. Built with
02:19an HPL material or high-pressure laminate, the Blue Lava Original remains solidly stable in different
02:25weather conditions in changing temperatures, humidity and even spills or splashes.
02:30The guitar's parametric structure is engineered by simulating the vibration dynamics of the top,
02:44body, neck and internal air, making those qualities resonate in perfect unison for a fuller and brighter
02:52tone. Also, the high-pressure laminate material used in this guitar is highly recyclable and the design of
02:58Blue Lava Original centers on the idea of reducing the material and manufacturing impact on nature,
03:03making this guitar also eco-friendly.
03:09The L2 preamp can boost sounds without plugging into an amp, as the Freeboost technology uses the
03:14guitar back as a speaker. The L2 preamp also provides onboard effects of chorus, delay and reverb.
03:21Besides the volume and reverb controls, you can see the effect knob governs the effect for either chorus
03:27or delay, which you can select from the onboard switch located inside the sound hole. First up,
03:33let's listen to the Blue Lava Original without any onboard effects, just hear it acoustically,
03:38and you'll hear this is a really pleasant, nice-sounding acoustic that's very warm. Here we go.
03:57Now let's hear the magic when I turn on the onboard effects. As you know, as I said, mentioned before,
04:24there's a volume, we have the reverb, and then the effect knob over here, which allows you to dial in
04:32either delay or chorus. So let's hear it. Simply turn it on by pushing it down and get the little green
04:39light. Here we go.
05:09Let's dial the reverb back a bit.
05:21Add some delay.
05:31So mostly counterclockwise, you have a shorter delay time and as you incrementally
05:36move the knob up clockwise, you get a longer delay setting. So take a listen.
05:52Now, simply turning, as I mentioned before, flick the switch on the inside,
06:10Now simply turning, as I mentioned before, click the switch on the inside.
06:23I can switch it now over to chorus from the inside switch.
06:30Get a nice little shimmer on the lower settings.
06:45And then more of a deep, full chorus on the higher setting.
07:03What's also great is the Blue Lava Original is ready to hit the stage.
07:33Simply by plugging in, and then you can use the onboard effects live as well, or you can
07:40just turn it off and use the house PA, or however you intend to use it, but it sounds great with
07:45the effects.
07:46Take a listen.
08:03The guitar also has an ergonomic neck shape designed for agile and comfortable wrist movements,
08:16and lets you play effortlessly.
08:18The low action 2.3mm string height is an ideal setup that's comfortable to play for both
08:23beginners and professionals, and combined with the thin heel allows for easy and smooth access
08:31to the higher frets.
08:33The magnetic tress rod cover is simple to remove and replace, and this magnetic cover
08:37allows you to adjust the neck relief with ease.
08:45The Blue Lava Original is a standout state-of-the-art acoustic electric from Lava Music.
08:49It's certainly portable enough to take anywhere, and with its built-in L2 preamp with free boost
08:54and onboard effects, it is equipped and ready to use on stage or in the comfort of your home.
09:00And considering its inviting playability, the Blue Lava Original is a must-have for any aspiring
09:05guitar or seasoned guitarist, definitely check it out.
