00:51Months after the death of Rostan's Paulo Tantoko, the country's First Lady Lisa Araneta Marcos
00:57is hounded by talk over her supposed links to his death. Malacan Young's press officer Claire Castro
01:03blasts supposed obstructionists and fake news peddlers who linked the First Lady to the death
01:08of Tantoko, the husband of her deputy social secretary Dina Arroyo Tantoko. Senator Amy Marcos,
01:15the president's sister, had also released a statement calling for a comprehensive report
01:19on the First Lady's whereabouts. The palace categorically denies the First Lady was held
01:24by any law enforcers. She was in the U.S. for the Manila International Film Festival held
01:30from March 4 to 7. Castro adds Tantoko was not part of Araneta Marcos' delegation and did not stay
01:37in the same hotel as the First Lady.
02:22The palace press officer also accused supposed journalists, without naming who they were,
02:26of faking a police report that seemed to name Araneta Marcos as one of the companions of the
02:31late Tantoko and that she had been questioned by the police. The Los Angeles County medical examiner
02:38confirmed that Paulo Tantoko, a Rustan's executive, died from cocaine use and his death was accidental.
02:44Tantoko, 44, died on March 9, the same day the First Lady was attending a public concert.
02:52Malacanang is also looking into filing charges against personalities, spreading supposed fake news.
03:00Energy Secretary Sharon Garin says tensions between the Philippines and China over the West
03:05Philippine Sea may have caused investors to shy away from the country's energy projects.
03:09No investor will risk millions or billions of pesos when they are not sure kung secure sila.
03:18Garin adds the Philippine Coast Guard and Department of National Defense have to be well informed
03:24of exploration activities in the disputed waters to ensure the safety of personnel.
03:29She also says the government has offered investment deals in places like Reed Bank,
03:34but no investors have accepted them yet. Despite this, Garin said countries like Israel,
03:39the United States, and even China have shown interest in doing joint oil and gas explorations.
03:46The Malampaya Phase 4 drilling, which started in late June, is expected to finish by the end of the year.
03:52If the drillings yield any gas, the wells could supply power for up to 10 years.
03:56President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. picks former journalist and veteran public relations practitioner
04:05Dave Gomez as new communications secretary. This for the fifth time in just three years in office.
04:12Gomez started as a reporter for the Philippine Star and later joined Leo Burnett, then became the
04:17director general of the Philippine Information Agency. He is the latest in the long list of communications
04:23chiefs under the Marcos administration. Jay Ruiz, who briefly served as acting head of the
04:29presidential communications office, held the role for just over four months before being reassigned.
04:35Ruiz's time in the role was still longer than that of Marcos' first communications head,
04:40vlogger Trixie Cruz-Angelis, who stepped down within the first three months of the administration.
04:46Cesar Chavez, the third PCO chief, served for just over six months.
04:53Senator Kiko Pangilinan files a resolution seeking a Senate probe into persistently high prices of food
05:00and agricultural commodities. This after a nationwide survey found that 20% of Filipino families
05:08experienced involuntary hunger. In a July 8th resolution, Pangilinan called for a review of current
05:14policies and actions to address rising food prices, including imports, price checks, and targeted subsidies.
05:21The inquiry will also recommend, quote, measures to ensure food affordability,
05:27strengthen food security, and protect the welfare of Filipino consumers.
05:32The government has so far lowered rice tariffs and set suggested prices for rice and pork.
05:38It has also started giving subsidies to the National Food Authority to sell rice at cheaper prices.
05:44Pangilinan is eyeing the chairmanship of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform.
05:50The 20th Congress will officially convene on July 28th.
05:56Alex Ayala returns home for a short break before continuing her historic 2025 season.
06:02Ayala visited her roots as she attended the opening of the FINMA International Junior Tennis Championship
06:08in Makati on Sunday, July 13th. Now ranked 56th in the world, Ayala shared valuable lessons with young
06:15tennis players from her journey to becoming one of the Sports Rising stars.
06:19The young Filipina star also visited her alma mater, Colegio San Agustin Makati, where she met with
06:32school administrators and former teachers. CSA Makati says in a Facebook post, quote,
06:39her presence reminded everyone of the heights that hard work and passion can achieve, leaving smiles,
06:45selfies, and renewed motivation in her wake. Ayala recently made history at Wimbledon as the first
06:51Filipino in the Open era to play in the main draw. Before Wimbledon, she also reached her first WTA
06:58final at the Eastburn Open, where she came close but did not win the title.
