00:00We very clearly heard a strong reaffirmation of the need to bring the region together,

00:07to make more trade integration, to build the connectivity, the north-south-south-south

00:14and central corridor connectivity, and that's where we have gotten our marching orders

00:20for the at least foreseeable future.

00:22As the world faces interconnected crises, the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization

00:31brought together leaders and ministers to strengthen economic cooperation,

00:35improve regional transport and build a resilient future.

00:39Held in Hankandi, Azerbaijan, the summit was accompanied by youth, women's and business forums,

00:44each contributing new ideas to the summit's shared agenda.

00:48The importance of an event like this is it brings almost 10 countries together in different forums.

00:54For instance, three days ago there was a youth forum which brought several students from different countries

01:01and they shared their ideas about the future of our planet.

01:04Another forum was a business forum which attempted to bring lots of community organizations and business owners.

01:13Pakistan also used the summit to call for deeper regional trade and sidelined diplomacy.

01:17Pakistan feels very proud as a founding member of ECO to be here today to play its role for regional development

01:24and we've had sideline meetings as well.

01:26So this summit also provides an opportunity for world leaders to get together on the sidelines

01:31and discuss other areas of mutual cooperation.

01:34The report being laid today, the declaration going out, will send a very strong message

01:39with regard to enhancing trade, investment and more cooperation within the region.

01:43A sentiment echoed by the representative from Nigeria, one of several nations invited as guests,

01:49who highlighted the importance of inclusion and collaboration beyond the region.

01:53The world is in search for more cooperation, more understanding about issues that multilateralism,

02:02so opportunities for countries to cooperate with each other and foster sustainable development,

02:08whether on a regional basis or on a global basis that are an important one.

02:13From investment to logistics, regional integration remained the dominant theme across the summit.

02:18It is absolutely important, especially in this pivotal and crucial time in geoeconomics and geopolitics.

02:26This convening eco-summit in a way symbolizes the traditional role of sitting on the crossroads of geographical location of Azerbaijan.

02:38I think it is a right time to ensure that the trade flows and mutual investment flows that we witness growing among member states

02:50are given a new dimension, a new impetus, and I think this is exactly what the summit is destined to do.

02:58This is a very important event, which is about developing and coming up with new ideas towards expansion of regional trade,

03:10removal of barriers for the economic cooperation.

03:16The development of sustainable alternative transport corridors are very crucial.

03:22And Azerbaijan plays here a very important role in building the middle corridor.

03:29Leaders focus shared heritage, regional goals, and the importance of growing internal trade.

03:55Ve toplamda kendi toplam dış ticaretlerinin yüzde sekizini birbirleriyle yapıyorlar.

04:01Birbirleriyle yaptıkları ihracat ve ithalat toplamı yaklaşık 100 milyar dolar.

04:08Ve bu ülkelerin aşağı yukarı ithalatların toplamı 669 milyar dolar, ihracatları toplamı 564 milyar dolar.

04:20This was not just a summit of speeches, but a platform of plans, partnerships, and next steps for the decade ahead.
