00:00What, then, is the role of the Messiah?
00:03So, traditionally, we've always thought the Messiah is the Savior.
00:09He will come and fix all our problems.
00:13That's not the point.
00:16God didn't create us with problems and then send somebody to fix our problems.
00:20I mean, what kind of plan is that?
00:24And fixing our problems is not a worthy goal.
00:30Purpose for creation?
00:32We exist in order to fix our problems?
00:35Don't create me. I won't have problems. I'm going to have to fix them.
00:40When Earth becomes what it can be, it will be holier than Heaven.
00:48Which literally means that all the souls in Heaven will come back to Earth.
00:55Because this is the place to be.
00:57In fact, in some sense, anybody who thinks that Heaven is a better place than Earth
01:05is a potential terrorist.
01:08Right?
01:10I mean, if you can go to a better place, you're dangerous.
01:15There is no better place.
01:17And when this world becomes what God wants it to be or needs it to be,
01:24it will be much greater than Heaven.
01:27Now, Heaven is eternal.
01:30When Earth becomes godlier than Heaven,
01:35Earth will become eternal.
01:36So there will be no death, there will be no suffering, there will be no pain.
01:42It will be heavenly, but more heavenly.
01:47So once the world achieves its purpose, it will become eternal.
01:52It will last forever.
01:54And the closeness to God is also endless, infinite, and forever.
02:02You can get closer forever.
02:04Because He is without end.
02:12So we can get closer, know more about Him infinitely.
02:17So I guess the question is similar to you're dating, and you're going out,
02:24and you're meeting, and you finally get engaged,
02:27and then there's a wedding, and now you're married.
02:29So now what?
02:31Now what?
02:35That's the whole purpose.
02:37Now you're married.
02:38We'll have to learn, and I think this is the primary role of the Messiah as a teacher.
02:49We're going to have to learn the excitement of a world already good.
02:57Today we get excited when we can fix something.
03:00Something needs fixing, something you have to fight, the good fight,
03:04and for cause, and for...
03:06What if everything was good?
03:09Would we just be bored?
03:12You wake up in the morning, everything's fine.
03:16You meet somebody, how are you?
03:19Fine.
03:20So boring.
03:25We'll never be able to say,
03:27pretty good, but my back is really...
03:29You won't be able to say that anymore.
03:32What are we going to talk about?
03:35If we can't crutch about our aches and pains,
03:37what are we going to talk about?
03:40So we will have to learn a whole new way of challenging ourselves
03:47to be as excited to go from good to better
03:53as we are excited about going from bad to good.
03:56By today we get excited about going from zero to 60.
04:05After the world is fixed, there will be no zero.
04:07No zeros.
04:11It will either be from 1 to 10, or from 1 to 60, or from 1 to 100.
04:17So it will only be an increase in goodness.
04:20How inspiring is that?
04:24Today it doesn't sound so inspiring.
04:25If I'm good enough, why bother?
04:29But when the world really achieves its perfection,
04:33getting better will be more exciting than getting good.
04:37And for that we'll have a whole new study.
04:45It's like, I think there's a subject in college,
04:50how to live in a peacetime economy.
04:54How do you run a country when you're at peace?
04:57Because very few countries know what that's like.
05:00So how are we going to live when the world is at peace?
05:07That's when we're really going to need to know our purpose.
05:13So the Savior role of the Messiah is a little exaggerated.
05:21Of course, he'll make the world better.
05:25But primarily it's our job to make the world better.
05:29What are we doing?
05:29Sitting around waiting for somebody else to make the world better?
05:35The primary role of the Messiah is a re-education.
05:45What do we do once our purpose is fulfilled?
05:52For this we need a great teacher.
05:55But to solve our problems,
05:58it would be nice.
06:04Because if we didn't have problems,
06:06we could attend to our purpose more fully.
06:10But you can't make solving your problems the goal in life.
06:14It's depressing.
06:16The harder you try to solve your problems,
06:18the worse they get.
06:19If you try to do something for God's purpose,
06:24you're already happier and healthier and better off.
06:33It's like this guy who's suing his parents for giving birth to him.
06:36You've heard about the guy, man.
06:41He's on to something.
06:44He really is saying something that needs a little thought.
06:49He's saying,
06:50I didn't ask to be born.
06:52You decided to give birth to me.
06:54And now you're telling me that I have to pay the mortgage?
06:57That doesn't make sense.
07:00I'm not paying anything.
07:03You gave birth to me.
07:05You paid a mortgage.
07:07Doesn't that make sense?
07:13Now apply that to God.
07:16God creates you.
07:17It doesn't ask you.
07:18And now you have to worship him.
07:21Excuse me?
07:23How did that happen?
07:27How did it become my responsibility when I didn't ask for it?
07:35Is that a scary thought?
07:38Or is that liberating?
07:41It can't be that I am here to have my needs satisfied.
07:49Because I didn't need anything.
07:53You went ahead and created me.
07:54Without even asking me.
07:56So I don't need this.
07:59I don't need any of it.
08:03So it can't be that I exist to solve my needs.
08:07I had no needs.
08:10You went ahead and created me.
08:12Why?
08:15Obviously.
08:16Whoever created me has the need.
08:20Not me.
08:24So you see.
08:25We turn everything upside down.
08:27We're used to the idea that human beings are needy.
08:30And depend on God for everything.
08:34True?
08:36Yes.
08:37But not interesting.
08:39Depressing.
08:40And the more you focus on it.
08:42Oh, you're so needy.
08:43You're in such trouble.
08:44You need help.
08:45You need to be saved.
08:46You need to...
08:47I didn't ask for this.
08:50This is not fun.
08:51On the other hand, if he created me, doesn't he ever need?
09:02Doesn't that make more sense?
09:03So the guy suing his parents, they threw it out of court.
09:10Because that's not a good argument.
09:13He said, I didn't ask to be born.
09:15So you paid a bill.
09:16You know what the parents said?
09:18Hey, we didn't ask to be born either.
09:20So grandpa should pay the bill.
09:22And grandpa says, I didn't ask to be born.
09:25So we can't sue each other.
09:28We got to go back to the source.
09:31God created us.
09:33It's his problem.
09:36And you know what the Torah says?
09:38What the Bible says?
09:41The Bible is basically God saying, I have a problem.
09:45Can you help me?
09:46I need something.
09:52Can you help me?
09:55How can we help him?
09:58He gave us seven ways.
10:00Not to worship idols.
10:02Not to be blasphemous.
10:05To disrespect God.
10:07Not to murder.
10:09Not to steal.
10:11Not to commit adultery.
10:12Not to be cruel to animals.
10:14And to have courts of law.
