Congress MLA Sofia Firdous accuses Odisha govt of ‘systemic failure’ in Balasore Self-Immolation case

New Delhi, July 14, 2025 (ANI): Congress leader and Barabati-Cuttack MLA Sofia Firdous on July 14 slammed Odisha govt over Balasore self-immolation case and said that they want justice for victim’s family. She also called a systemic failure. “...The father of the victim says that so much pressure was put on his daughter that she has taken this step. We want justice...Nothing will happen with just a suspension...He will be reinstated again...In the 13 months since the new government came to power, no strict action has been taken against any of the accused for any of the crimes... Everyone's courage is increasing...We want justice for her family... We need reform and accountability... She is a member of your party, she has tagged you and given you a written form. She has also talked to the MP... All of them are responsible in that system. This is a systemic failure that you will have to accept... The clear message is that this government has completely failed. It is their responsibility to manage it on moral grounds... They should also resign on moral grounds... The entire Congress party demands the resignation...,” said Sofia Firdous.
