00:00Police have dismantled a drug syndicate with the arrest of three individuals,
00:05and the seizure of various narcotics were 3.56 million ringgit.
00:10Speaking at a press conference on Monday,
00:12Johor Police Chief Commissioner Datuk M. Kumar said a local man and two Vietnamese women
00:17were detained in five separate raids conducted across Johor Bahru last Thursday and Friday.
00:23The syndicate, believed to have been operating since April,
00:27used rented rooms and condominium units as drug storage and repackaging sites
00:32before distributing the substances to the local market.
00:35All three suspects, who have no prior criminal records, tested positive for methamphetamine.
00:41Among the drugs seized were 20.71 kilograms of ecstasy powder,
00:46over 18 kilograms of cannabis, close to 155 grams of ketamine, and 141 grams of aramin-5 pills.
00:54Police also confiscated drug processing and repackaging equipment,
00:59along with 800 ringgit in cash.
01:02The suspects have been remanded until Thursday to assist investigations
01:06under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,
01:11which carries the mandatory death penalty upon conviction.
01:15In addition, the two Vietnamese women are being investigated under the Immigration Act
01:19to verify the validity of their travel documents.
