00:40However, Luffy, in a rare bit of insight, finds her plan to be naive.

00:44Luffy will die regardless, and since Crocodile is manipulating the rebels, it'd be simpler

00:50to just fight him.

00:57The duo exchange blows, with Luffy taking the worst of it.

01:01Vivi believes that by confronting the rebels alone, only her life would be at risk.

01:07Luffy asks her to instead risk all of their lives, since they're friends, and that's

01:12what friends do.

01:19It's a fantastic character moment for both of them, revealing Luffy's inner death and

01:24helping Vivi grow.

01:33Nami defends Luffy from an army When it comes to who's the strongest or bravest

01:38Straw Hat crew member, Nami isn't usually the first to come to mind.

01:43It's when Luffy stands alone against an army of the Big Mom pirates, Nami returns to back

01:50Her large-scale lightning attacks are devastating on the battlefield.

02:02Additionally, she's able to control and disable Big Mom's homey minions with her Vivi card.

02:09She and Luffy may ultimately be defeated and captured due to sheer numbers and exhaustion,

02:16but Nami proves here that she's more powerful than many give her credit for, including herself.

02:23Usopp cheers Luffy on During Luffy's fight with Luchi, the future

02:35Pirate King is beaten and bloodied, collapsing to the ground.

02:39Usopp sees this from above and, removing his Sogeking disguise, reveals himself to Luffy.

02:58When that fails, he instead taunts Luchi, trying to provoke him into a fight.

03:03Although Usopp knows he can't win, he knows Luffy can.

03:12As bad as the situation is, they're not in hell.

03:15For as much credit as Luffy gets for standing back up and punching the stuffing out of Luchi,

03:21Usopp deserves just as much for giving him the motivation to do it.

03:32Sanji clashes with Doflamingo Luffy is usually the one to go up against

03:38the big bad, so any time a different member of the crew gets the chance, it's something

03:44With Doflamingo bearing down on the Thousand Sunny, Sanji arrives in the nick of time to

03:49stop him with a fiery kick.

03:51The two combatants exchange blows mid-air, with Sanji receiving some nasty slashes.

04:05While the straw hat cook has an excellent showcase of his strength, with even Duffy admitting

04:09he's strong, the warlord eventually immobilizes him.

04:17This little bout may not last long, and Sanji gets saved himself, but it's cool enough that

04:22we hope he crosses paths with Doflamingo again for a rematch.

04:35Bonklai's First Sacrifice He may dress like a ballerina, but Mr. 2 Bonklai

04:40is as tough as nails and a true friend.

04:43While everybody remembers his sacrifice to help Luffy get to Ace, fewer people talk about

04:48the first time he did it.

04:57Despite having only met them once and fighting against them, Bonklai and his boys decide to

05:02help the straw hats.

05:04They dress up like Luffy and company, helping buy them the time they need to escape the marines.

05:13The flower of friendship blooms in unexpected places, and Bonklai's is truly breathtaking.

05:23Luffy Defends A Dog's Treasure Given that this happened so early on in One

05:40Long Piece, it's easy to see why so many overlook it.

05:44In Orangetown, Luffy meets Shushu, a dog that has been waiting for his late owner at a shop

05:50for years.

05:51Moji, Buggy's right-hand man, and his pet lion Richie, rough up Shushu, raid the store

06:00for food, and then burn it to the ground.

06:03Luffy, furious at this, beats down both lion and pirate alike, saving the last bit of dog

06:09food from the store.

06:20He may not be smart, but Luffy's empathy for people and animals alike never fails to tug

06:26on our heartstrings.

06:34Noland Kills A Giant Snake Although he's a flashback character, Montblanc

06:38Noland looms large in the lore of One Piece.

06:41While he's remembered as a liar, Noland was a great explorer and quite the fighter.

06:46When he arrives on Jaya, Noland discovers the people there suffering from a disease.

06:56Just as they're about to sacrifice one of their people to one of the huge snakes they

07:01worship as gods, Noland steps in and cuts off its head.

07:11For context, powerful fighters in the present-day Lanzaro couldn't even scratch one of these

07:17beasts.

07:18As if that wasn't awesome enough, Noland manages to convince them to let him find the cure,

07:23betting his own life on it.

07:24He was a beast, and that's no lie.

07:33Franky Changes The Weather Sometimes something is so funny, it crosses over

07:38into badass territory.

07:40Franky's cyborg body is powered by cola.

07:43During his fight with Fukuro on Eni's lobby, Franky starts running low on his favorite beverage

07:49slash power source.

07:51After some unsuccessful and comedic attempts at substitute drinks, Franky eventually gets

07:56his hands on the real deal.

07:58As he powers up, dark clouds gather, lightning strikes, and the island echoes with his signature

08:04catchphrase.

08:06You might just write it off as a joke, but through the power of sheer awesomeness, Franky

08:19brought a storm to an island where it is literally always sunny.

08:26Super doesn't even begin to cover how epic that is.

08:35Luffy Carries His Friends Up a Mountain Doctors are a rarity when the Straw Hats arrive on Drum

08:42Island.

08:43Unfortunately, they desperately need one, since Nami has fallen ill.

08:47The only one around has made her abode at the top of one of the enormous drum-shaped

08:51mountains that give the island its name.

08:58After Sanji is injured in an avalanche, Luffy is left to carry both he and Nami on his back

09:04up a sheer cliff face with nothing but his bare hands.

09:08Under clothed and bitterly cold, Luffy perseveres against all odds to get them the help that

09:13they need.

09:15Then, when Dr. Koreha and Chopper find them, what's Luffy's first thought as he lies there

09:26frostbitten with his hands bleeding?
