Zaid Ibrahim labels Nick Adams a right-wing agitator and partisan provocateur, unfit to serve as a US ambassador due to his lack of diplomatic credentials.
00:00Former Law Minister Zayed Ibrahim has called on the government to swiftly and firmly reject Nick Adams should he be nominated as the United States Ambassador to Malaysia.
00:12Zayed said while Washington may propose whoever it wishes, the ultimate decision lies with Fuchajaya.
00:19His comments came after reports surfaced that Adams is being considered by President Donald Trump for the post of U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia.
00:27Zayed said ambassadors are meant to foster trust, deepen cooperation and represent their nation's highest ideals.
00:35He labelled Adams as a right-wing agitator and partisan provocateur who is neither a career diplomat nor statesman and therefore unsuitable for the position.
00:45He also said Malaysia should not be treated as a dumping ground for ideological firebrands and partisan influencers.
00:51Zayed said rejecting such a nomination would not harm bilateral relations but instead signal that Malaysia values substance over showmanship and expects its partners to treat it with the same respect it offers.
