00:00hey guys welcome back in the presence once again this is your host tell you and I know
00:13been very no inactive on a channel for like a good while well basically if I had to sum it up
00:21I had like basically no drive so want to create any YouTube videos these past few months you
00:29because knowing that how most of my content was gone on my other channel I couldn't get it back
00:37okay I didn't have the space on my laptop to back it up you know because I got this new AC laptop long
00:45after my channel was gone yeah so if I was able to get it before I would have been able to back up
00:51all my videos but no I wasn't right so I just have to accept the fact that all that good
00:59content years of videos and everything is gone and just had to move on but no all right and what
01:08do we have now well well basically today's video and before I get into today's video I'm going to
01:14sum up the change that I'm gonna be doing to my content I'm still gonna be doing a gaming videos
01:20right because I don't want to give up on doing that but I'm gonna focus more on movie reviews and
01:26reaction but I'm gonna keep the reactions limited so there's gonna be more movies right all that said
01:33aside um today's video I'm going to be dedicated to a very interesting topic one that strikes a very
01:43strong um called in the DC fan base and that is man of steel right the superman movie like the beginning of
01:55the DCEU right so well this film is basically more than five years old at this point right it's an
02:05old ass film okay so I'm in today's video I'm just going to you know talk about Manistee like the movie
02:13how it was when I saw it and how my perspective on the film changed since you know it came out to
02:22now right um because I don't really see a lot of people talking about it that much you know when
02:31you look on YouTube most of them is like oh the DC you feel that they some of them they mention Manistee
02:37you know you talk about the film but it's always about the character and how you know this deconstructing
02:44and how it is and BVS and all the other movies and um well I do want to do BVS a video on that film
02:51I'll save that for another video right so I was going to focus this on Manistee alone because since
03:00BVS is such a bigger topic in itself and there's a lot more stuff I'm going to talk about that but
03:07all right all that I said Manistee right so first of all for transparency I have to say it's a good
03:15movie um I enjoyed it the first time I saw it I didn't really have much problems with the film
03:21other than the fact that I it felt a bit um uneven in the pacing and kind of felt like a little bit of
03:29feeling watching the film like recently now you know years later like revisiting the film and um
03:37like you tend to realize like certain stuff in the film that you haven't realized like you know
03:43when you first saw it and came out and um one of those instances was um like certain scenes that you
03:52pick up something like oh that and then you realize oh and no like those little things that
03:59make the film much more appreciated in a sense because like a lot of that you don't see in films
04:09nowadays when you revisit them you just you know like oh yeah I remember that or yeah that that scene
04:15you know but there's not like nothing that you can pick up from the film and another thing too like
04:23that's one of the things that I've come to like re-watching Manistee recently you know and certainly
04:31like maybe easter eggs and stuff I had never like made out um like the first two three times you saw the
04:40film but like we visited it years later as you're older and you like you know you tend to like analyze
04:47films or see films from a different perspective now it's really interesting that you see things that
04:55you don't normally see and man still this film you know with superman and the characters you know and
05:03the the city and where they were in you see these things and um I haven't really had much of that
05:11in any of the recent films um so far the only times I've experienced this is watching the dark
05:20night trilogy as a whole it's really interesting thinking about it and I remember because at first
05:27I didn't think there was anything much wrong with the film right right like other like how I said for
05:34me it was mostly the pacing of it it felt uneven right so I thought it was that was an issue but
05:41reading the reviews you know like oh and this was a while after the film came out I decided to like
05:48you know start looking at reviews and use I realized that it was very mixed and um a lot of people were
05:56like oh the there was so much destruction and you know there was so much darkness and like superman was
06:05like so grim and all other stuff like like people like they kind of exaggerated all this stuff about
06:11the film to the point where it was really I mean are you talking about the same film do you see the same
06:20film I mean that's what I'm thinking because there were several instances where you know he was smiling
06:28because that's apparently one of the big concerns people have that you know he didn't smile you know
06:34I mean I saw him smile several times and I remember the scene specifically too so it's not like that's
06:42a big deal um another thing too is that yes the film does have a sort of like no serious tone or darker
06:51tone you know and it it's not as maybe as campyish or light-hearted as the old superman films but
07:00that's kind of the point for this film because after all it's a origin story and if you read the comics
07:07superman's origin story isn't necessarily as light-hearted and as campy as they make it out in the
07:15movie and that's the whole point of this man is still the origin story being more faithful to the
07:20comic and um I said then I thinking like um shouldn't more people have understand this since they've
07:29it's superman is like an older character and then apparently they don't and the reason for it is
07:37older films apparently nowadays the films define a comic book character more than the actual comic
07:44itself and I find it very strange because I've read some of the superman comics in the past and
07:51straight up there were word for word dialogue that was pulled out of superman comics and was put in the
08:00movie and I noticed that I only noticed it recently I've seen some people like post on Reddit I know
08:07they made a comparison they showed you um pictures of the comic and then they show you um side by side with
08:15a picture of the scene in the movie where they had the same dialogue and I was like wow that's interesting
08:23but apparently no that's not the superman I mean first of all like it is I mean yeah sure I get it
08:34just because it's in the comic doesn't mean it's going to be I'm good or whatever but it's still the
08:40character I've had this this is a big problem that I have had with watching some of the other movies
08:47more recently as of late is that as they progress and they make sequels they tend to push to this um
08:56you know narrative of changing the characters into something that they're not just for the sake of you
09:05know continuing like the story but to like make it more popular you know rather than just sticking to
09:12the actual stuff for the character I mean to put it in a way like to give an example if I don't know
09:20if you guys have remembered Incredible Hulk right that was a film that I I really enjoyed I mean
09:27unfortunately I didn't get to see it in the theaters because um we went to watch Dark Knight that time you
09:33know Batman is more thing than Hulk but um I got Incredible Hulk on dv and I watched it and it was
09:41a pretty damn good movie um and yes I know it it was um wasn't like fun as you know the other Marvel
09:53movies right it's more serious it has more depth and it's more dramatic you know focused on um you know
10:01Bruce Banner and such it was still pretty good I think it was still it balanced itself well enough
10:08in my opinion maybe not in terms of um the pacing but overall the story and its acts and whatever
10:17when Avengers came out after you know Incredible Hulk you know you had Edward Norton they had to change
10:25the actors to Mark Ruffalo so for Avengers they had a completely different hook and I liked the
10:33Hulk in the Avengers he was still pretty cool you know Mark Ruffalo did his own take on the character
10:39and his Bruce Banner which I still liked later on in the um franchise they pretty much turned Hulk into a
10:49joke if you look at him now there's barely much of Hulk I mean yeah sure I mean they he talks more and he
10:58like he's more interactive like if you watch Star Ragnarok so I mean that's a cool thing to see but
11:07they made him to a joke to the point where he doesn't even measure up to the current um Marvel user and I think
11:15that's pretty disappointing because the Hulk we got an incredible Hulk was pretty damn good and I'd
11:22looking back I'd take that over the current Hulk any day if we had a chance and that says a lot
11:31especially when you look at the MC how they've come so far since then and that same thing that
11:40is a part that I've noticed with the characters and those films and I've noticed that happen in
11:48the DCEU but um that's one thing that I've also noticed happening and and I watched um how Handicap
11:58will play Superman I didn't really notice much of that because when I saw the film I saw a story taking
12:08place that was building up to something else that was a continued off with something else and it was
12:15going pretty good and that's one thing that I like you know with his role him playing the character he
12:24he did what he could have done with what he had and he made it did very well especially when you look
12:31at the scenes where he's interacting with his parents you know one-on-one with Jonathan Kent and
12:37when he was alone talking to Martha Kent those are some really good moments that he had and you saw it
12:46in the way they interacted there was some pretty good stuff that they had there and you don't see
12:53scenes like that in movies much nowadays I mean you barely see it you know whether this subtle you
13:03know there's no there's not much music playing like this just them sitting down talking to each other
13:10no special effects right just the two characters interacting with each other talking about stuff
13:16and it's subtle scenes like that that help to actually make a character relatable not how much
13:26jokes he can make or how fun he can be or how well you can um time into this one or that but
13:35those little stuff at the end you can put in little moments with the characters interacting there's also
13:43another um aspect that I want to adjust in the film and that is the admitting that it's not perfect
13:50and I know that sounds weird because um like how the film you know superman you know superman is like
13:56this perfect character but like the way how this film's set up how it's constructed and what
14:02plays out right you know you watch it unfolding and you hear like the dialogue and you listen to it
14:08like you listen to what um summer scenes with his biological father joel what he says to kyle
14:17he says to him this is before he you know he finds out that his you know past and you see him
14:26puts on the suit for the first time you hear the quotes on joel he says you will give the people of
14:32earth an ideal to strive towards they will race behind you they will stumble they will fall but
14:39in time they will join you in the sun kyle in time he will help them accomplish wonders and that
14:49i couldn't help but think but that pretty much sums up the people watching the film as well like this
14:57film admits that like some of the words here you know especially other one people are afraid of what
15:06they don't understand you know in bbs they can't change up that one a little bit and there's others
15:14from um this other character says he will be an outcast they'll kill him you know all these other
15:22cool quotes you have and when you read the dialogue it pretty much does play into what people
15:31who watch in the film or the actor they they say they hate it you know and they bring up all these
15:37weird reasons most of it the people who are just trying to find something to complain about for the
15:43sake of trying something to complain about and others are people who they try to make a legit
15:50you know reason to why the movie sucks but in reality is it their obsession with the older films
15:56to um to think with this one no concern how this one is a origin story that's different
16:06in the sense of how it's constructed how it's made the story that's been told you know and people they
16:12can't really get over these things and i think that's the best thing that you can do in this film like
16:18you know it's not going to be perfect there's going to be like certain things about the film that
16:23you know not going to be thing read but at the same time it's not even not even like striving for
16:30that perfection because you admit that you're not perfect you're striving to be the best version of
16:35what you're making and i think that's what man of steel is if i sum it up in my opinion man of steel
16:44steel is the best version of a superman comics based superman story you know being told from the origin
16:57and i'll take that any day compared to the stuff that we see nowadays you know um films nowadays they
17:06come out you know you have a nice time in the theater you like it or you hate it you know you read
17:12the reviews whatever and a few months later you don't even talk about it you know it's just you
17:17know forgotten at the back of your mind or is something lost on the um collecting dust on the
17:24shelves in your room but like with man still it's like one of those rare movies where you can
17:29revisit and you can still you know have that feeling like you're watching the film
17:36like that first or second time watching the film you still get that feeling but you don't really get
17:44what films nowadays and i think that's a big thing they accomplish with this one from my perspective so
17:51if i would have summed it up for um man still revisited you know it was a good film and you know looking back
18:03i don't think uh it could have been any better because it's basically the best version of that it can
18:12be and that is being the best you know superman comics movie and sure it's not as perfect as the 80s
18:26superman with christopher reese and that's fine because this film this is minus two right you gotta
18:34at least acknowledge that this is not the superman it's minus two and it's a pretty good um film
18:46and i probably have no problem recommended to someone else if they'll be looking for this film to watch
18:53right so but anyways guys um it's just mostly me rambling about the film um i pretty much went
19:02a bit in off direction so um i was just basically you know decided i like talk about the film you know
19:11i mean i haven't been on youtube in like months and i know it sounds pretty weird to come back with just
19:20this video but something that was on my mind for quite some time and i want you know talk about it
19:25you know unscripted just me you know giving my thoughts my perspective about it you know looking
19:31at you know what i've seen so yeah and well let me know what you guys think about the film have your
19:42thoughts change about over the years did you like it or did you hate it or are you in between or maybe
19:50you've changed maybe you've come around you know um i've noticed that happened with films as of late
19:59let me know what you think and um you know comment section down below and um i guess i'll see you guys
