00:00All of Hebrews is an invitation to an experience of spiritual rest,
00:11a stress-free relationship with God through Jesus.
00:15Doesn't that sound amazing?
00:17The God who created you and made a way for your salvation is a God of rest.
00:22He invented rest.
00:24Even he rested when he finished creating the universe.
00:27What would keep you from experiencing that kind of life with God?
00:31Unbelief.
00:32When you don't believe God's word,
00:35you wind up expending unnecessary energy and effort to gain a genuine sense of purpose and meaning.
00:42God promises to supply all of that freely and generously to anyone who trusts his Son and believes his promises.
00:50Because we are all human and in such need of God's goodness,
00:53we do need someone to intercede for us, a priest.
00:57We need someone to point us to and provide us with access to God.
01:02Under the Old Testament system,
01:04that access was granted through the high priestly system of continual sacrifices
01:09and the shedding of the blood of animals for the sins of people.
01:13But now Jesus serves as your perfect and only able high priest forever,
01:18because he has entered heaven and intercedes for you perfectly.
01:22Not only that, but you have a high priest who is always available
01:26and will never shrink back from coming to your aid.
01:30His willingness to help you is realized when you go to him in prayer
01:34and ask him for everything you need.
01:37And because he loves doing it and has unlimited power to unleash for you,
01:42he invites you to come with confidence.
01:44In other words, you can speak freely to Jesus when you need him.
01:48You can share matters with him that may be too personal or intimate to share with others.
01:54He understands you.
01:56He knows your weaknesses, your fears, and your hang-ups,
02:00and he has promised not to hold those things against you when you pray.
02:04What Jesus promises in return for your requests made in faith
02:08is an ample supply of mercy and divine, supernatural assistance.
02:13If honest, you would surely admit your need for mercy, too.
02:18We all need mercy.
02:19And it is available in endless supply at the throne of grace.
02:23Jesus promises that to you as your eternal high priest.
02:28But Jesus also promises to help you,
02:31to undertake for you in your need.
02:33Help is a very positive thing, it speaks of the future.
02:37You may obtain mercy and find grace to help in your time of need as Jesus promised.
02:43Everything you need in this life and eternally is found in him.
02:47By the way, have you turned to him yet today?
02:50You still have time.
02:52Let Jesus, your high priest, hear your voice.
02:55Tell him you love him.
02:57Confess your sins to him.
02:59He already knows everything, but he longs to have time with you.
03:03Push pause on your day, turn everything off, and go to him in prayer.
03:08He will be merciful,
03:09and he will listen carefully and without distraction.
03:13He will help you.
03:15That's his promise to you.
03:17Go ahead.
03:17You can trust him.
