00:00The Panthers at the top of the board here, anywhere between 550 and 7-1, depending on where you shop.
00:09Avalanche, Oilers, Golden Knights, of course, they had a big offseason.
00:13And then the Hurricanes. I'm just glad the Hurricanes finally aren't one of the top two or three teams anymore, George, even after signing Eulers.
00:21Yeah, I think we talked about this last week, right? I don't understand why the Hurricanes were so highly favored.
00:26I mean, did we not watch the playoffs where the Panthers were just – I mean, literally, they were playing with their food, right?
00:34The Canes had no chance against the Panthers, none. And I don't think Eulers changes all that much.
00:39I think he's really – he's like the final piece for a really good team, but he's not a star.
00:44He's certainly not a superstar. He'll help, no doubt, here. But he's not going to be that, go, final piece now, they're really going to go for it.
00:51I didn't understand that at all here. Listen, I like the Canes, maybe the women's division.
00:55Again, they'll certainly make the playoffs here. I still don't think they're going very far.
00:58I don't think they're better than Florida. I don't think they're – I'm not so sure they're better than Tampa Bay.
01:02You know, I think a healthy Devils team is a pretty good team as well here.
01:06So maybe Washington just need a little seasoning. I would put Carolina above Washington.
01:10But maybe Washington just need a little playoffs for one year, a little seasoning here, and then they go for it.
01:14But I would put Cain's no better than third for me in the Eastern Conference.
01:18Yeah, I agree with that. And look, I don't – I'm not sure Washington will have the same type of year.
01:25They were a very good team, obviously, this year, but I'm not sure.
01:28I think a lot of that was fueled with the OV stuff and him going for the record.
01:33I think that there was a lot of other outside factors at work.
01:37A little magic carpet ride for Washington. Not sure they'll get the same thing as we go into next year.
01:42All right, this is the first time on NHL Today, George, that we're going to take a look at some of the awards.
01:47And look, they've already got pretty much all of them up in terms of the odds.
01:52And we'll start at the top, which is the Hart Trophy, MVP, of course, for anybody who's a novice to the NHL.
02:00And you do have a lot of the usual suspects, George, near the top of the board.
02:05Of course, Conor McDavid is going to be the favorite before any season.
02:09Last year, he missed a lot of games, which is what really kind of put him out of the mix there.
02:14But McDavid, McKinnon, Kucherov, Dreisaitl, Kaprizov, who had a great first two and a half months of last season.
02:23He was up actually as a favorite for this.
02:25And then he got hurt and missed a ton of time.
02:28And then you'll always see Austin Matthews kind of hanging around the top of that board also, George.
02:33Yeah, Matthews has the wrist problem, right?
02:37Don't I get that wrist bother most, if not all, of last season?
02:39The shot just wasn't the same as it used to be.
02:41Still effective, but not Austin Matthews here.
02:46Listen, we can go with any of one of these guys.
02:48We know McDavid's the best player in the NHL.
02:50He also gets banged up quite a bit.
02:52He's got Dreisaitl there, too, that could take away some votes.
02:54I thought Dreisaitl should have won it this year with what he did there.
02:58McKinnon's fantastic.
02:59Kucherov, I mean, we can go on and on.
03:00He had all the fantastic players here.
03:02But I'm curious about Colorado with McKinnon and the changes they've made here.
03:07Will he be quite the same without ranting for a full season?
