00:00Mr. Secretary, you met the Chinese, your Chinese counterpart earlier today.
00:07The President has said just a couple of days ago that he enjoys good relations with China and the Chinese President.
00:15At your meeting, is that the sense you get, that you have good relations with China?
00:19It was a very constructive meeting.
00:20You know, obviously, look, we're two big, powerful countries, and there are always going to be issues that we disagree on.
00:25I think there's some areas of potential cooperation.
00:27I thought it was a very constructive, positive meeting.
00:30And a lot of work to do.
00:31He's absolutely right that the President has a very good relationship with President Xi.
00:35It tracks back to his first term.
00:37And, you know, obviously, there are some issues we're going to have to work through.
00:40And that's to be expected with countries of our size and scope and influence in the world to global power, such as the United States and China.
00:48But I thought it was a very constructive and positive meeting and gave us some things we can work on together.
00:53Mr. Secretary, was your message to the foreign minister in the meeting?
00:57Which foreign minister?
00:58Every meeting that I've had is with a foreign minister.
00:59Oh, well, look, it's very constructive.
01:01I think, as I said, the President has a very positive working relationship with President Xi.
01:07And obviously, the relationship I have with a foreign minister should reflect that.
01:11So we acknowledged, you know, there are some issues that are going to be we have to work through, not just beyond trade, but others.
01:18But I thought it was a very constructive and positive meeting and gave us a lot to work on.
01:21So that was our message, was the opportunity here to achieve some strategic stability and identify areas where we can cooperate together on and build better communications and a working trust.
01:34What are some of those areas of cooperation?
01:36The what?
01:37What are some of those areas of cooperation?
01:38The administration hasn't spelled those out yet.
01:40Well, we're going to work through those.
01:41We're not going to have any announcement for you right now.
01:44But it was a very constructive meeting.
01:45I think we left it feeling as there are some areas we're going to be able to work together on.
01:49And obviously, you know, as we work through those and we do that in conjunction with the Chinese side, we'll make public announcements.
01:56The last interaction of our trade representatives was quite positive.
02:00And, you know, we can build on that and other areas of potential cooperation.
