00:00Your film making, the writing and the kind of movies that you have produced, we all are correct.
00:05But when the subject comes to this, the film comes, which is not a routine love story in your words.
00:11So, what is the first thought that comes to your mind, that we have to connect with this?
00:17I think the first step of the film is the screenplay of the film.
00:21The writing is the most important thing to you.
00:26And that happened when I got the screenplay of this film.
00:31And I think that Shazia and Rahul both have worked on this film.
00:37As you know, this is an official adaptation of a Tamil film, Periuram Perumal.
00:42And it was a great appreciation for this film.
00:45But I can say that this is a proud adaptation.
00:49Because there are many elements that Rahul and Shazia have changed.
00:54And, you know, this film is represented by its own way.
00:59We are very happy that we got the rights of the film.
01:04But we have made our own film by that film.
01:08And as I said, it's a very, very beautiful and proud adaptation.
01:12Thank you so much, sir, for sharing that.
01:14Moving on to the Director Sahiba.
01:16Thank you so much, first of all.
01:20Thank you so much.
01:22Thanks for the support.
01:23Thanks for the support.
01:25Welcome back.
01:29Thanks for listening.
01:31When he had to present it, what was it in your mind?
01:34Actually, I approached Somain,
01:37that if you don't have anything to say, because my short film was very good, Bebhak.
01:41So, they forwarded that short film to Karan.
01:45And I think,
01:47it was probably the first time that someone watched a beast mate's short film,
01:51and gave you a big film.
01:53So, I think, full marks to Somain and Karan.
01:57I mean, for the courage, for the faith.
01:59Because I don't think this has been done before,
02:01because you can see a lot of the film's scale.
02:05And generally, these stories are given, especially women filmmakers.
02:10But I don't think my producers thought,
02:13that this is a kind of story,
02:16which generally works as a female filmmaker.
02:20They had their full trust in me from day one.
02:24And I think that helps a lot.
02:27And now, when this trailer was running,
02:28it was a big deal.
02:29And it got a response.
02:31I am proud of my entire team.
02:33I think,
02:33in building a whole film's world,
02:36the whole team and the whole actors have a hand.
02:39I am very, very proud.
02:41There are a lot of our crew here.
02:43Rahul, who has been my collaborator for almost three and a half years,
02:46worked more than a writer.
02:48So, I think the whole team is attached to the film's team.
02:53And that matters a lot.
02:54And Siddhant and Tripti have given their all.
02:59And that is the best thing a director can ask for.
03:02Literally, they give everything to their own.
03:06So, I think the whole team has done so much work.
03:08And the whole team has done so much work.
03:09And the whole team has done so much work.
03:11I can say the most proudly,
03:13that the one who has seen it has said,
03:15that one actor doesn't feel like this.
03:17You know, in most films, you'll find that this is not right.
03:21But if you watch our film,
03:22you'll know that everyone looks like they are part of the world.
03:25And that I am very proud of.
03:27I am sure,
03:27that this will come from everyone's mind.
03:30Filal, Tripti, this one is for you.
03:32Thank you so much for being a part of this film.
03:34I will tell you all about this.
03:36Tell me,
03:37you've worked with some critically acclaimed filmmakers.
03:41Some of the stories of Kamal's stories.
03:44When you came with these collaborators,
03:46of course, Z Studios, Dharmas, Cloud9,
03:49all came together.
03:50And what would you like to say about Kamal's cast?
03:52I would like to say this,
03:54that I am very proud of this film.
03:59And I am very happy that I am a part of this film.
04:01And that I am working with such people.
04:03Because the first day,
04:05the day I had a narration,
04:07and until today,
04:08I have all happy vibes about the film,
04:11about everything.
04:12And Shazia was talking about us,
04:14but she is not a better director.
04:16Because she has just given us so much freedom as actors.
04:20You know,
04:21especially in serious scenes,
04:23when you are there,
04:24you know, you go through a lot.
04:26But she has just been there quietly,
04:29not trying to make us,
04:31you know,
04:32that you don't force anything for anyone,
04:33that you go through this emotion.
04:36She was just always smiling,
04:38always holding our hands.
04:40And I think that she's the best director.
04:44And that's why we can do whatever we can do.
04:47I love you too.
04:48But Dharma Productions is my second picture.
04:51And I am really proud of this one.
04:54Thank you so much, sir.
04:55Thank you, Dripti.
04:56Thank you so much.
04:57Now, now,
04:58I have to ask them for a moment.
05:01Brother, what did he do on this big show?
05:03What did he do?
05:03You know,
05:03Dialogue delivery,
05:05or those expressions,
05:06they are the most annoying ones,
05:08they are talking a lot.
05:10He is a very layered character.
05:11Please,
05:12tell us about this.
05:13How did he do this?
05:14What?
05:15Hey, man,
05:16don't forget this.
05:17Tell us about it.
05:18Tell us about it.
05:20Very intense.
05:22Okay.
05:23Well,
05:25what do I say?
05:27As an actor,
05:29I think my surprise is that
05:31I get producers,
05:34Karan, sir,
05:35who have shown this fate
05:36for me.
05:37Because what I've done in films,
05:39all are urban.
05:42Because I come from small town,
05:45I didn't get to know the story.
05:47And Karan, sir,
05:49when I called and said,
05:50that there is a story,
05:51come and listen.
05:52And when I came to the narration,
05:55Shazia, Rahul and Rahul
05:57have heard the story.
05:58And at that time,
05:59I said,
06:01I'm doing this.
06:02I don't know how to do it,
06:03because it was a very intense part.
06:09But by default,
06:11I always tend to choose something
06:13which is very intense,
06:15which is a bit challenging.
06:16After that,
06:18the journey I think
06:19is that Shazia has directed us
06:21as well as we have directed.
06:23And then Tripti has helped us
06:25in this film.
06:26And in fact,
06:28the rest of our cast,
06:30like Aditya Thakre,
06:31Saad,
06:32here is Priyank,
06:34who is not here.
06:35But the whole gang
06:37became a synergy.
06:41I think that Shazia ji
06:42is the only way to direct us,
06:44because what we have directed us,
06:46it seems that we are going to
06:48college again.
06:49and the performances
06:51that they have pushed me
06:53and extracted me,
06:55whatever you are watching,
06:57I enjoyed it.
06:59I was empty by the end of the film.
07:01by the end of the film,
07:02I thought that
07:03there is nothing in there.
07:05So it is very satisfying as an actor.
07:07So I feel
07:09very, very lucky.
07:11So thank you, Apoorwa sir.
07:13Thank you, Major sir.
07:14Thank you, Karan sir.
07:15Thank you, Soumeen.
07:16Thank you to the whole team
07:17for actually,
07:18and the rest,
07:19you guys,
07:20tell me how it felt.
07:21For me, the film is very special.
07:23We have made a lot of heart
07:26and anger
07:28and made it.
07:30And when you see it,
07:32you will feel it.
07:34So...
07:35Thank you so much.
07:36Once again,
07:37of course,
07:38there is so much effort
07:39in this film
07:40and of course,
07:41there is no idea
07:42when it is released,
07:43then we will see
07:44in the theatre.
07:45I am...
07:46Hi.
07:47Hello.
07:48Nituji.
07:49Hi.
07:50Hi.
07:51Nitu Singh,
07:52Dhanik Bhaskar.
07:53Here.
07:54Here.
07:55First,
07:56you have to be happy.
07:57The trailer is very good.
07:58The trailer is very good.
07:59The trailer is intense.
08:00It is a love story.
08:01The team will be happy.
08:02First of all,
08:03I would like to know
08:04about Karan.
08:05You said you are 53,
08:07but
08:08you are feeling
08:09in college boy's look.
08:11The age is going to be
08:13reverse.
08:14You are 53.
08:15You will tell us
08:16first of all.
08:17And...
08:18You said,
08:19I was reading on the internet
08:21yesterday,
08:22and people said,
08:23you killed me.
08:24They said,
08:25what happened,
08:26what disease is happening,
08:27what disease is happening.
08:28So,
08:29I would like to say,
08:30my health is totally fine.
08:32I am very happy.
08:33In fact,
08:34I have never felt lighter on my feet.
08:36It is one of the reasons
08:38that I have adopted
08:41to change my wellness
08:43in my life.
08:44So,
08:45I am alive,
08:46and I will be alive.
08:47Before,
08:48I want to say,
08:49I want to say,
08:50I want to say,
08:51I want to live a lot of years,
08:53specifically,
08:54for my children.
08:55And,
08:56of course,
08:57these are all my children.
08:58And,
08:59of course,
09:00these are all my children.
09:01And,
09:02for all,
09:03there are many stories
09:04in my mind.
09:05So,
09:06thank you for that compliment,
09:07ma'am.
09:08It means a lot to me.
09:09Because,
09:10I am 53,
09:11and now I am single.
09:12So,
09:13let's listen to your compliment.
09:1453,
09:15not 35.
09:16That's also less.
09:17Oh wow.
09:18Basically,
09:19you are my favourite person
09:20in the whole world.
09:21Oh,
09:22thank you.
09:23Dr. Tripti,
09:24you will be able to know.
09:25There is an intense love story.
09:26But,
09:27you have asked,
09:29that's a small town character.
09:30Baliyah.
09:31Dr. Tripti,
09:32because we have not lived this lifestyle
09:33in this,
09:34how do you have to deal with this?
09:36How are the challenges of you?
09:38How difficult for you?
09:39There is a lot of responsibility.
09:41When you have to deal with such a potential,
09:44I think
09:45most importantly,
09:46to deal with honesty.
09:48And I think,
09:49that's what we aim to do.
09:51And,
09:52Dr. Shazi Aqbal helped us achieve a lot of work-shops in our film.
09:58We had a lot of work-shops with Siddhant, I, and all of the characters you have seen in the trailer.
10:02We all, I think in a week, had a lot of games and talked about,
10:08tried to understand each other's life.
10:11We had a lot of acting-based exercises,
10:14which we had confidence to go and shoot.
10:18And I think that was very, very important.
10:20But responsibility is a very important thing,
10:23when you have a role in this way and in this way in the film.
10:30Dr. Shazi Aqbal, I think that
10:33if you have a role in any film for me,
10:37I always think that there is a responsibility as an actor,
10:40that I am able to achieve it.
10:43And even if it's a small town,
10:46it's a small town.
10:47I've lived that life.
10:48I have never lived that way.
10:50I started that time for five, six years,
10:52and now I have to go and go and get.
10:54So I am connected with those things.
10:57And, I don't want to come back,
10:59I didn't want to come back these things,
11:00I didn't want to come back with those things,
11:02and I didn't want to show me the opportunity to show that thing.
11:05And if I got it,
11:07that's my opportunity.
11:08I think that every actor or director, or technician, or light dada,
11:18whoever works in this film, make-up, hair,
11:23everyone is responsible for the product.
11:28Right from the writers until the distributors, everything.
11:35In fact, our responsibility is to talk about this film in the right way,
11:40in every cinema house.
11:44I would say that this film is a very intense love story,
11:47but it is something that I can't tell you.
11:50But when you watch the film, you will understand that it is a very special film.
11:57That's why I would say that I am lucky
12:03to be able to pull this off,
12:06and thanks to the whole team,
12:08and thanks to everyone who is also present here,
12:11for being here and clapping, cheering, or feeling it.
12:14Even the silences.
12:15You know, when I asked you guys,
12:17how do you feel about this trailer?
12:19I was expecting more than hooting,
12:20because more than hooting,
12:22I expected more than hooting,
12:23I was expecting silence.
12:24Because exactly what I expect,
12:26when the film is finished.
12:27When you watch the film.
12:30Hi everyone.
12:31Impactful trailer.
12:32Sidhan Tripti, great job.
12:34There were two scenes that really stayed with me.
12:36One, when you were in your head
12:37and Tripti's head getting pulled.
12:39And of course Tripti,
12:40the line that you said,
12:41which I feel most of us relate to,
12:42that we were looking forward to this story.
12:46But my question is actually for you, Karan.
12:50I have to ask you this.
12:51When you are putting out a story like this,
12:53with socio-political issues,
12:54that probably my generation might not be even aware of,
12:57has not even gone through something like this.
12:58But I am sure people do go through it.
13:00During the filming,
13:01were you kind of sure,
13:03or were you sort of expecting,
13:04or was it a setback,
13:05when there were so many censor cuts that were made?
13:10So I think,
13:12you know,
13:14Dharma productions quintessentially has always been,
13:17you know,
13:18associated with a certain kind of cinema.
13:20Though I think,
13:21time and again,
13:22we have always tried to shake that up.
13:24You know,
13:25we have always picked up themes,
13:27and always presented them with utmost sensitivity.
13:31And that was also the need of the hour for Dharak too.
13:34That,
13:35of course,
13:36we were picking up a theme thematically,
13:38that needed to be addressed.
13:41And the best way to address something,
13:43or make a change,
13:44is I think through art.
13:45And I believe cinema is such an impressionable medium,
13:48that if we don't,
13:49who are in positions of storytelling,
13:52and we are content creators,
13:53if we don't take up these themes,
13:56and tell stories about them,
13:58and do it,
13:59of course,
14:00in the mainstream,
14:01because Dharak too is a mainstream film.
14:03It's a mainstream,
14:04intense love story.
14:05But it is saying something.
14:07And I have never ever worried about,
14:10I've been worried about repercussions,
14:12because that restricts you as an artist.
14:15And I feel,
14:16if I was scared of the first time,
14:18then you know,
14:19like the line it is,
14:21you know,
14:22if you have a choice,
14:23then play.
14:24And the best way is art.
14:27If you have to put a point across,
14:28it is through art.
14:29And I have to say,
14:30yes, we took a while to get to the cinema halls,
14:33but even the censor board was very understanding,
14:35very compassionate,
14:36and absolutely understood what we were trying to say through the film.
14:40You know,
14:41they were protecting the sensitivity,
14:43we were protecting the sensitivity.
14:45So we worked very well,
14:47we understood their perspective,
14:49we respected their perspective.
14:51And yes,
14:52sometimes these things take time.
14:54It's not something that can happen overnight.
14:56And that's why there are processes in the censors,
14:58that we must follow.
14:59They ask you to,
15:00actually give the film in submission much earlier.
15:03What happens here?
15:04Everything is last minute.
15:05You know,
15:06last minute cuts,
15:07you can't put it in the last minute cuts,
15:08then you cut it in the cut,
15:11and then you say,
15:12that there are compromises.
15:13No compromise is not.
15:14The way Shazia and Iqbal
15:16wanted this story,
15:17you will see it on August 1st.
15:20And full respect to the censors,
15:22we went through time,
15:23the time needed.
15:24But for every good thing,
15:26the time needed.
15:27And this time was very important for all of us.
15:31And we're very proud of the final product.
15:33That we were able to tell the story,
15:35the way we envisaged it and imagined it.
15:37And yes,
15:38it is a story that makes you wake up and think.
15:41And what you said,
15:42probably people don't know in your generation,
15:44but you'll be surprised to know,
15:46that these topics,
15:48these are just small cities,
15:50and not so much in the cities.
15:51It is a true reality of our times,
15:55no matter where you live.
15:59And this theme has to be addressed.
16:02And I'm so proud that we were able to address it
16:05through our film.
16:06Thank you so much, Garan.
16:07All the very best to everybody.
