00:00Joe, let's talk about what we're looking at next week.
00:02All right, severe weather is going to rear its ugly head once again,
00:05and I think Tuesday and Wednesday at the front and center of the Midwest
00:08into the Plain State from a pretty significant cold front
00:11that's going to come into the east late next week
00:13and may bring some relief into the east next week in May.
00:18There's still some question marks as to how far south and east in that front will get.
00:22We'll explain that in a moment.
00:23It's going to be hot, mainly dry in the west.
00:24The concern with that is that, unfortunately,
00:27wildfires may start to increase out in the west.
00:30Joe, when you take a look at rainfall over the last 30 days,
00:33boy, it's been dry in the west, which is, listen, that's common for this time of the year.
00:37But a lot of rain east of the Rockies.
00:40Yeah, obviously, you know, you focus on, you know, the big rains,
00:44the devastating floods across portions of the Texas Hill Country,
00:47but there's been a lot of rain there.
00:49And you notice here in parts of Nebraska, Iowa, Wisconsin,
00:53you've seen some pretty hefty rains as well.
00:55It doesn't include the heavy rains that fell in here last night
00:58in the Chicagoland area, where they're dealing with some flash flooding this morning.
01:02You've also seen quite a bit of rain here in the mid-Atlantic states as well.
01:06So it's been a pretty wet pattern across a big part of the country.
01:09And I don't know that it's going to change an awful lot.
01:12Now, there may be less of it in the nation's midsection as we go through next week.
01:16But, you know, if you look at the U.S. drought monitor,
01:18we're in pretty good shape across a lot of the country.
01:19We need more in here.
01:21We're getting some right now.
01:22And there's another front that's going to come through
01:24that could cause some more wet weather as we go through next week.
01:27Joe, the big highlights as we head into next week.
01:32Well, it's going to be hot and dry in the west.
01:33And as a result of that, I'm concerned that the fire danger is going to be elevated.
01:38The dip in the jet stream in the east,
01:40you're going to be seeing some more severe weather in here.
01:42That's Tuesday, Wednesday.
01:43That's a front that's going to continue to press eastward.
01:46The south and the east, you're going to see some unsettled weather.
01:48It's very warm, not necessarily hot, but humid, slow-moving thunderstorms,
01:53a risk of flooding.
01:54Eventually, as that front comes into the east,
01:56if it can clear the eastern seaboard,
01:58we can have some relief from the heat and humidity
01:59for a couple of days, maybe next weekend.
