00:09Dozens of black cab drivers meet to hand over petition to cap private hire vehicles.

00:14Black cab taxi drivers and private hire vehicle drivers in Edinburgh

00:17are calling on the Council to cap the number of private hire vehicles in the city centre.

00:22A petition, which has garnered 1,764 signatures,

00:26argues that a dilution of taxis in Edinburgh is leading to a fall in the quality and professionalism of the trade in the city,

00:34which black cab drivers said is ultimately going to lead to somebody getting seriously hurt or even killed.

00:40They added,

00:41It's not just about inconvenience, it's about the sustainability of an entire profession that thousands depend on.

00:48There are believed to be around 1,100 black cab taxis in Edinburgh,

00:52and between 2,400 and 2,700 private hire vehicles in the city.

01:02A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being stabbed at a property in Edinburgh.

01:07Police were called to disturbance on Northcote Street around 5.30pm on Wednesday, July 9th,

01:13after a man was found with serious injuries.

01:15A Police Scotland spokesperson said a 43-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

01:22Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

01:28Extreme Risk of Wildfires Warning issued by Scottish Fire and Rescue Service

01:32The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, SFRS, has issued an Extreme Risk of Wildfire Warning across Scotland in the coming days.

01:40The Extreme Danger Assessment will be in place from Friday, July 11th and Monday, July 14th,

01:45and covers central and eastern areas on Friday.

01:49This extends to all areas except low-lying areas with green grass from Saturday, July 12th until Monday, July 14th.
