As it pulls back the curtain on a new era in 2025, fuelled by the all-electric Neue Klasse models, BMW is creating a holistic driving and user experience that breaks genuinely new ground. One of the elements of the far-reaching BMW Panoramic iDrive concept is the new HypersonX soundscape. Developed by the BMW Group Sound Design Studio, it comprises 43 sound signals and special driving sounds for Personal Mode and Sport Mode. The multi-dimensional spectrum adapts the sounds precisely to the driving situation at hand and, in so doing, creates an emotional interaction between the driver and their vehicle.

This new stage in the evolution of the automotive sound experience has been made possible by the technological advances in hardware and software brought by the Neue Klasse. The revolutionary BMW Operating System X and a newly developed control unit pave the way for an innovative audio architecture. This allows the overall experience offered by the Neue Klasse to be perfected at an acoustic level, as well as in terms of vehicle character, driving experience and functional range.

00:00Sound plays a crucial role in shaping our connection to vehicles, transforming silent
00:07machines into emotional experiences. But what lies behind the vision of the new driving sounds,
00:13the Hypersonics? With Hypersonics, we have designed an experience that goes beyond sound
00:22and embrace all the elements in the car, such as light and user interface, so that we create an
00:28holistic experience for our drivers. Driving pleasure has always been the core element of
00:34the BMW. The Noyu classes show that the emotion it evokes and the reduction of complexity harmonize
00:41perfectly with each other. Now, more than ever, it focuses on the human being. Hypersonics is about
00:48a human sound experience. So what we have done, we have gathered several design colleagues into a choir.
00:57We asked them to speak about the moment of joy which they had experienced. With all these elements,
01:05we created some layers that we introduced into the welcome sound, which means that whenever a person
01:12will enter a BMW, there will be salute and welcome with sound that is made up of the joy of other humans.
01:21The main sorts of inspirations for Hypersonics have been elements taken from nature, elements taken from
01:37architecture, elements taken from art, everything that was really speaking to us in a different way.
01:45With Hypersonics, we do have different driving sounds depending on the experience. You know, the personal sound is so
01:55important because it's the everyday life soundtrack of the driving action.
02:01This sonically expands on the sport mode in which there is much more precision to be heard and the
02:11acoustic feedback is very detailed, transmitting what the car is actually doing.
02:16Hypersonics will open a new era for sound design for our PNW Neuklasse.
02:34And of course that was瘋.
