Paschim Medinipur (West Bengal), July 11, 2025 (ANI): On the controversy around freedom fighters reportedly referred to as ‘terrorists’ in a question paper in Vidyasagar University, Vice-Chancellor of Vidyasagar University, Dipak Kumar Kar, said, "A printing mistake occurred in the question paper of undergraduate history examination yesterday...I inquired about the matter with the Controller of Examinations and asked for a report from the Controller of the Examination as well as from the Chairperson of the Undergraduate Board of Studies of History. After getting the report, we came to know that the error occurred during moderation, which was unintentional and not detected during proofreading, also...We have decided that the concerned teacher who was involved in the moderation will be replaced by a new member, and the Chairman of the Board of Studies will also be exempted from his chairmanship..."
00:00A printing mistake occurred in the question paper of undergraduate history examination yesterday when it has been detected in the late evening.
00:15Myself has inquired the matter with the controller of examination and asked for a report from controller of examination as well as from chairperson of undergraduate board of studies of history.
00:33After getting the report from both of them, we came to know that during moderation, the error occurred, which was unintentional and not detected later on also during proofreading.
00:58Considering the seriousness of the words in English and Bengali mismatch, we have convened a meeting today with head of the department, undergraduate board of studies chairman and all the teachers, faculty members of history department.
01:26And dean of faculty of arts, controller of examination, register, undergraduate council secretary, all of them have been involved in the review scrutiny of the report.
01:46And after going through it, all have unanimously recommended that the person, the teacher involved in the moderation on the day, concerned teacher will be replaced by new member.
02:07And the board of studies chairman will also be exempted from his duty of chairmanship.
02:19The senior most teacher of the department of history of the university will be entrusted with the job.
02:32So that this will not be required in future, not only in history, in any other subjects of both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
02:44And university has taken measures to address the issue at all level, not to avoid the recurrence of this issue.
