00:27Siyempre, maraming salamat dahil umagang-umaga sinamahan mo kami dito.

00:31Pero nauna na-intrigan na ako, Legend Darius the Great.

00:34Saan mo ba nakuha itong pangalan na ito?

00:36Well, it's a long story.

00:38Way back elementary school, pinatawag na ako ng prof ko na Darius the Great.

00:42Bilang pangasar kasi, di ba, may historical figure Darius the Great.

00:46And eventually, pinanindigan ko na.

00:48So everything I have to do has to be great.

00:50And then yung legend na part nun, it's my proclamation na at the end of my career as a pro wrestler,

00:58matatawag niyo ako na legend in this industry.

01:00Legend Darius the Great.

01:01Yung pala ang legacy na gusto mong iwanan sa pro wrestling.

01:05Pero pag-usapan natin, ano ba ang Filipino Pro Wrestling?

01:09Filipino Pro Wrestling or FPW is a pro wrestling entertainment company.

01:14So, sports entertainment siya.

01:16So, we specialize in the production of live events and of course, digital media content.

01:23Let's just say na it's a very unique form of entertainment.

01:26If you're free on a Sunday, this Sunday, July 13, FPW Astig, salip na manood kayo ng sine.

01:33Why not take your families to a Filipino pro wrestling show?

01:37Promise core memory yun, ibang iba yung experience to see live.

01:42May mga wrestlers, nage-entrance, nagsusuntukan.

01:46It all unfolds in front of your eyes, yung passion.

01:49Noon kayo, FPW Astig, this Sunday.

01:51Ayan, napanggit mo na nga, yung this is an entertainment form.

01:57Yes.

01:57Pero lumayan nung aking kabataan, napapanood natin yung WWE.

02:02How is this, similar or different?

02:03Well, similar sila in the sense na it's the same genre, sports entertainment.

02:10Basically, we tell stories in the ring, dun sa paradigm na isa siyang pro wrestling sport.

02:17Pero the difference is here, it's a localized form of WWE.

02:23And what we offer is the flavor of, mas relatable siya, kasi kapwa Filipino.

02:31And the main difference is, of course, isa pa dun is you get to meet your fellow Filipinos as wrestlers such as me.

02:41And then, makakaramdam ka dun ng kinship eh, pagka Filipino pro wrestling.

02:44And you get to watch.

02:45Kasi bihira din pumunta yung WWE sa Pilipinas.

02:48At least you get to see us.

02:50And I can say, we do some stuff na hindi rin naman nagagawa ng WWE.

02:55Like for example, WWE has this global reach.

03:01And at least in some ways, Filipino pro wrestling is more attuned to the experiences of the Filipino.

03:09And you get to have characters like Legendary is the Great, which is I don't think WWE has.

03:15It's a unique aspect of our company.

03:17Definitely. Pinoy na Pinoy ang atake natin.

03:19Pero paano ka ba napasok dito?

03:22Okay, so, 2022, I knew this wrestler.

03:26Ang pangalan niya ay Jason Rex.

03:28I knew him from before kasi I'm a sort of a mentor to him sa isang organization.

03:32Ang tawag dun ay Sigma.

03:34And he approached me, said to me na he is training under a new wrestling promotion.

03:39Ang tawag dito ay FPW.

03:41And he told me to watch.

03:43So, my first test show nun, September 2022, I came there, no expectations.

03:49Di pa ako nakakanod ng wrestling before.

03:51Pero when I saw these wrestlers making their entrances, nag-aaway sila in the ring,

03:57you see them express themselves in the ring, right then and there, I fell in love.

04:03And talaga sabi ko, I have to be a part of this company.

04:07Kahit wala akong athletic background, kahit hindi ko siya naging dream before,

04:12I have to be a part and I have to dominate this industry.

04:15So, that's, four, six months later, nag-sign up ako, FPW Academy, it's their developmental system.

04:23Ang coaches namin ay si Ralphie Mabayashi, Mike Madrigal, and then, eventually, I am the product.

04:30I am batch one of that academy.

04:32It works.

04:33Kung gusto, ikaw baka gusto mag-wrestling?

04:35Meron din babae?

04:36May mga babae kami.

04:37Right now, we have six to eight trainees, and we have women wrestlers like Roxy Reeves versus Robin.

04:47Makikita niyo si Robin and versus actually performed this Sunday.

04:51So, it will inspire you.

04:53Anything men can do, women can do as well.

04:55It doesn't matter the gender.

04:57Tara, sumali ka kung ikaw, kung gusto mo mag-wrestling.

05:00Yung talaga yung, pwede mong sabihin na itong wrestling, kaya na rin gawin ng mga kababaihan.

05:07Yes, yes.

05:08Pero, legendarius, ito ba yung isang full-time na career mo?

05:12Meron ka bang ginagawa outside wrestling?

05:16Meron akong ginagawa outside.

05:18I capacitate the learnings of individuals and craft transformative experiences.

05:24Sobrang corporate speak.

05:25Pero, my passion, my love at this moment is FPW.

05:30I train every Sunday.

05:33I train refinement trainings on Thursday.

05:36I train MMA every Monday and Wednesday.

05:38As a supplement, para mas magaling pa ako in the ring.

05:42I go to the gym every day.

05:44For me, it's what I want to do full-time.

05:48Ano yung hugot mo?

05:49Kasi you've been telling me about your passion and your love for wrestling.

05:53Pero ano talaga, what did you love about this week?

05:57Well, nung nakita ko yung pro wrestling for the first time, 2022, I knew na mahirap tong goal na to.

06:05So yung goal na challenge na mahirap siya, it's its own reward.

06:09Kasi alam ko, if I am able to transform myself enough to fulfill my vision to be a pro wrestler, it's going to make me a better person overall.

06:20And aside from that, before then, napakadami kong bisyo.

06:24Nag-i-i-see ako two packs a day.

06:25Umiinom ako five times a week.

06:27So I knew pro wrestling training would motivate me to actually eat healthier, exercise more, take care of myself better.

06:37So, ang daming perks.

06:38Kaya I decided, yes, I'm going all in.

06:41I'm going to become a pro wrestler.

06:43360 naman pala yung ginawang change sa'yo.

06:46Yes, yes.

06:46Which is really a good way to, sabi mo nga, improve yourself and be better.

06:51Pero ngayon, ano ba yung, balikan natin yung pinakaunang event or match mo?

07:00Ano yung natatandaan mo? Ano yung tumatak sa'yo?

07:02Okay.

07:03So, I had my first match last year, October 2024.

07:08Eight months pa lang ako wrestler.

07:10Pero I had the most hyped up debut for any wrestling rookie in Pinoy wrestling history so far.

07:16And very rare ito para sa rookies.

07:20Pero I won that match fair and square.

07:23Wow.

07:24So that's what makes me the great.

07:26Ano yung iba, iba talaga yung ora mo dito.

07:29I like the passion.

07:31I like the optimism.

07:32Pero gaano na baka laki ang wrestling community dito sa Pilipinas?

07:37Malaki na siya enough na every time we, every year, year by year, lumalaki yung audience namin.

07:44The past shows we had at Bake Studios, Yakal Street, Makati, Venue de Sunday, is higher attendance than we had 2023, 2024.

07:55So it's a growing community.

07:56Pero very bullish ako dito.

07:58Kaya nga nag-all in ako kasi I know, ang dami pa naming untapped pro wrestling fans sa Pilipinas.

08:04Kailangan lang nila maging open na maybe what FPW has to offer is different from WWE.

08:09And we have to be open-minded enough to immerse ourselves in what FPW has to offer.

08:15Definitely, tingin ko talaga, abangan niya ng maraming Pinoy fans.

08:19Lalo na yung mga, kumbaga, curious.

08:21Ano ba ang FPW?

08:22Pero napag-usapan mo na nga o nabanggit mo na nga, this Sunday magkakarayan ng event, ang FPW as stage.

08:28So ano ba yung pwedeng i-expect ng mga wrestling fans?

08:32Okay.

08:32So for the main event, we have Mike Madrigal going against Quatro.

08:39That's for the FPW Championship.

08:43We have a new championship, Metro Manila Championship Qualifiers.

08:47You'll see my apprentice Jason Rex going against Robin.

08:51We also have international wrestlers coming from Singapore, Grapple Max, who will fight off against our Filipino comrades, our my friends.

09:02So it's all a jam-packed event.

09:06Pero most of all, you'll get to see and experience live, Legendaries the Greek, in person.

09:12Siyempre, no?

09:15At nakikita nga natin yung mga aabangan natin ngayong linggo at first time na magkakaroon ng Metro Manila Championship.

09:23Bukod sa mga pwede nilang mapanood na wrestlers, ano ba ang special dito?

09:28At sa tingin mo, sino ba nga sa tingin mong mananalo o mag-dominate sa mga matches na to?

09:34Personal bias ko, siyempre, a member of Sigma will eventually win the Metro Manila Championship.

09:42And that is, in my view, Jason Rex will win.

09:47And what you can expect from this new championship is just, sobrang deep bench na kasi na FPW.

09:54Napakadami na naming wrestlers.

09:55You can't have all of them fighting for the FPW Championship.

09:58So now that we have Metro Manila Championship, also content for yung level ng competition talagang mas intense.

10:06And lahat ng shows ngayon must see going forward.

10:09Ayan. Pero I am also curious sa mga nabanggit mo is kalat na nga at malaki na itong wrestling community natin.

10:17Pero saan ba kayo yung normally nagtitraining? I mean, where is the venue and the paano?

10:23Sama-sama ba kayo or do you do your own training?

10:26So every Sunday, we train at Patalina Street, Quezon City. It's a secret base.

10:42If interested ka, maka interested ka din na baka gusto mag-wrestling.

10:45So, yun. I will give you the address, the details, if you want to.

10:49Personally, I do that pati on Thursday refinement training.

10:53Pero I also work out most of the days of the week.

10:56Kasi I have to...

10:57This is a competitive environment.

11:00If I want to keep my spot, I have to keep training.

11:03And I have to do it more than my fellow wrestlers.

11:07Totoo yan. Alam mo, kanina mo pa ako ini-invite, baka malapit na akong mag-wrestling.

11:11Pero alam mo, ang pinaka-interested talaga kasi gusto ko yung mga takedowns.

11:15Ayan, sa parang combat sport, diba? May takedowns, may mga ganyang galawan tayo.

11:20Pero ito, Legendaryos, anong masasabi mo sa mga former champions na dyan, si Jeff Cobb, na nakapasok na sa WWE?

11:26Para sa akin, it's great na nakita natin yung former FPW champion natin, si Jeff Cobb, competing in WWE as JC Mateo.

11:38It only shows the prestige that the FPW championship has.

11:43That what our champions can do is showcase themselves here, locally, but also they are good enough to perform at a global level, at the global stage of WWE.

11:54So, keep watching us kasi you don't know. One of our wrestlers might jump ship eventually to WWE.

12:02That's the level of talent that FPW has.

12:05Ayan, grabe. It's a really good opportunity na makapasok sa gano'ng klaseng stage or platform na banggit mo nga.

12:13Pero what can the fans look forward to, lalo na sa ating mga FPW wrestlers?

12:20Well, you can look forward to different character arcs, different journeys of them culminating in the ring, siyempre.

12:29And to know more about their lore and the story so far, you have to watch FPW at the YouTube channel that we have.

13:16Yung, kumbaga, napipiling character o pangalan ng mga wrestlers?

13:20Okay. So, ang maganda sa Filipino Pro Wrestling is you get to have freedom to be who you want to be.

13:27Yung wrestling character ko na Legendary is the Great ay very similar.

13:32It's an extension, the best gimmicks daw kasi in wrestling is an extension of your real self.

13:37So, yung wrestling character ko na to, this is just me, dialed down to 8.

13:42So, ito yung toned-down version ko in real life.

13:45Toned-down version pa yun eh.

13:47Yung nakikipagsuntukan ka, kikipagsipaan ka.

13:50Oo nga eh, I'm worse in real life.

13:51Kaya ayoko sana mag-blur together yung dalawang character ko na yun.

13:54Ayan. Pero ito, ito na. If may gusto kang pasalamatan at syempre, pwede ka na mag-invite sa lahat ng wrestling fans.
