00:00UMNO has asked the King to allow its former president, Najib Razak, to serve the remainder of his prison sentence under house arrest.

00:10In a statement today, UMNO Secretary-General Ashraf Wajidi Dusuki said the party was grateful that the Attorney-General had confirmed the existence of the royal addendum.

00:21He said the party pleads with the Yangtipetuan Agong, who has absolute power as provided for by the federal constitution, to execute the order.

00:31The federal court was told on July 9 that AG Dusuki Mokhtar had acknowledged the existence of the addendum.

00:39Senior Federal Counsel Shamsul Bulhasan said Dusuki had confirmed the existence of the addendum on July 2 but that he was disputing its validity.

00:49Najib wants the government to implement a January 29, 2024 order in the addendum,

00:55allowing him to serve the remainder of his jail sentence in the SRC International case under house arrest.
