00:00Next week and a half. Welcome into Cox Pavilion. Chris Miles here alongside Greg Anthony and the game we have for you, the Orlando Magic versus the Sacramento Kings. When I say the Orlando, to Ethan Thompson in the first bucket of the game from Thompson.
00:18Yeah, good job. They're moving the ball. Sacramento came out very physically. Clifford to Jones for three back-to-back threes from the G League veterans on each team. Yeah, I tell you, I really like Cliff. Oakland does a great job of moving it. It's delicious. Richardson right on schedule there. Three threes, three made threes here to start the game. Jones inside the right now and back-to-back buckets for the rookies on each end. Yeah, I'll tell you what, right now.
00:48Really strong, great leverage. Top of the key over to Silva. All air. The hustle underneath the basket to no AFL by Isaac Jones. Carter thought the ball might have. Right now. Puts it back. Right now. His leverage down low. You do not move him. Right now on the fast break. Oui, oui. Bonbons. All that good stuff. That's that French onion soup, baby.
01:18A little bit I'm seeing so far, GA. I like. Yeah. And sometimes it's a fit thing, right? You know, oriented.
01:28He's a guy that definitely seems to be comfortable playing below the free throw.
01:32Nice pass inside. Richardson blocks Raynaud. Giving up about a foot, but a foul by Richardson. Yeah, and that was just a great find late there by Carter. Lighten it up. He almost has as many points as the Orlando Magic.
01:47It's been really good. And yeah, it seems like a theme for the Kings. They're drafting guys 22, 23 years old. Yeah, you listen, there's nothing wrong with expression.
01:55Raynaud. Why not? Red hot. Four for four from the field. 11 points. The Magic have just eight.
02:03And I tell you what, he's been. The contact. No call. It is off as he hits the deck.
02:11So Maxime Raynaud.
02:14Two guys have to, one, be great positionally from a defensive standpoint. Provide shooting and decision making.
02:21And being able to play off.
02:25Plowden. Well, that's a lot better for you. There you go. Leave it.
02:29The largest lead of the game so far for the Kings. They were up 74 minutes for the Magic. And he gets another one.
02:37Yeah, and even that one, though, you can see Sacramento defensively really disrupting what Orlando have contested to.
02:44Speaking of which, a nice, good baseline bucket that's contested by Isaiah Stephens.
02:52How their offense is going to flow.
02:56All air for Crutcher.
02:58Has not been flowing well here early on.
03:02And Carter getting his first bucket of the game.
03:07The Kings now up by nine with under a minute to go to your point.
03:11Terrific.
03:13And Carter can't finish on the alley-oop.
03:17He stays down on the deck for a second. Seems to be all right.
03:21At the charity stripe right now.
03:23Trying to get that opportunity to get a roster spot.
03:27Yeah, and impress someone, not just in the NBA as well.
03:31Some of these guys are going to find Holmes playing.
03:35And he's trying to go up against Crutcher.
03:37If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again.
03:41Yeah, he did a good job setting the floor there.
03:44I had a chance to spend some time with him during the season.
03:47He talked a lot about wanting to establish a defensive summer league.
03:54So back in to control the offense.
03:57Kicks it out in the corner for the assist.
04:00Come on, G.A.
04:01I tell you what, G.Z.
04:02Raynaud, I love his game.
04:04You know, he plays with great pace, but he also...
04:06And a nice pass on the baseline.
04:10The strong finish above the rim by Damian Kinsey.
04:14It's an 11-0 run for the Kings.
04:17Raynaud resets, goes up.
04:19A 13-0 run.
04:22Raynaud.
04:23He's doing it all.
04:24Perfect from the field, G.A.
04:25And he'll go to the charity strike.
04:29Well, Chris, you'll love this conversation.
04:31I'm sitting right here next to head coach Doug Christie
04:33and new associate head coach Mike.
04:35That was a post-presence.
04:37Not afraid to attack and be physical down low,
04:40but he just is real comfortable playing.
04:42Leadership on the floor as he misses that free.
04:43And obviously, you know, even though it's the G League,
04:47he's had an incredible love in sharing that knowledge there,
04:50as we know.
04:51Labessier shares that knowledge with Raynaud.
04:54Yeah, he shared it with him.
04:56He said French onion soup.
04:58Selection.
05:0021 points, 13 rebounds in the clinching championship.
05:04That includes the rookies because Nick Clifford
05:06and Devin Carter both 22.
05:08Yeah.
05:09And Raynaud is 22.
05:11A body finish.
05:13Another Frenchman.
05:15Yeah, I tell you what.
05:16They love their basketball in France,
05:18and they have produced some incredible...
05:21That part of the reason that our shooting
05:24was below our standard
05:25was because of a lack of skill
05:28and shot creation and shot...
05:30You talked about that,
05:31but not having the continuity,
05:33not allowing that chemistry to develop.
05:36It did stun your goal.
05:37So you lost Mo Bartman for the...
05:39Has its effect.
05:40And I do believe that with the age profile,
05:44with hopefully the depth of luck offensively,
05:47and it was important for us to not really lose who...
05:5225.
05:52And I say fall because we understand the type of talent he is.
05:55Night of the draft.
05:57As he...
05:58No one ever knows how it's going to unfold.
06:01And, you know, we had Jason for a visit at 16 as well.
06:06So, yeah, obviously you can't predict it.
06:09We did kind of mock it up.
06:11Busy offseason for them.
06:13He's been real busy.
06:14Right?
06:15He's been real busy.
06:17And it's fun, too.
06:18Like...
06:18You need to get confirmation that your guys are ready...
06:22Yes.
06:22...for you to make.
06:23That's what last season, even though it was shortened because of injuries,
06:28the growth of Paulo and Fran, an ability to have.
06:31So, I'm excited to see the Magic as they continue to ascend in that Eastern Conference.
06:38And Nick Clifford transferred to Colorado State.
06:42And that Colorado team he was on, you know, Cody Williams came in.
06:47A lot of talent.
06:47And they were teammates at Colorado.
06:50Correct.
06:51He made them pay.
06:53Yeah, Thompson, 11 points on just three official shot of tips.
06:59Right now.
06:59That's called being efficient.
07:02So, that deficit...
07:04...sparked by a 14-2 run earlier by the Kings.
07:11Go.
07:12Thompson, back-to-back misses from long range.
07:15Bring it!
07:16Bring it!
07:17Bring it!
07:22Perform at the next level.
07:23Well, he makes those.
07:27He tries to fight through the contact.
07:30Jones a lot bigger than Da Silva.
07:33So, Jones listed it.
07:34Needs a timeout as we get you ready for the final 35 seconds of the first half.
07:38And so, then you get to come back to summer league and really get a sense of how much you've been able.
07:46The first half.
07:47It's bumping.
07:48Grinding.
07:49Off.
07:50Back up with it.
07:51Finds Raynaud for three.
07:53Stroking.
07:53It takes him a little while to get it off.
08:04For Raynaud, two for three from long range.
08:11Da Silva takes the screen.
08:12Goes to the hole.
08:14And it's denied, but still drops.
08:16To the rim.
08:19Keith Clifford.
08:20First round pick for the Kings this year.
08:22finds Jones professional putting the ball in the basket without a doubt
08:29Richardson the baseline pass swing swing to Silva cash it out
08:38Pinda handling the rock the entire possession is fouled and goes up but
08:45opportunity and he really allowed Jones to just defend him yeah Jones to the
08:51hole that's Isaac Jones to your point admit and then you can get it back chose
08:57not to they're not able to convert you saw Smitty popped up real good he knew
09:03that the Jace was playing Sparty's got a strong fate in his fifth year 19 points
09:10a game shot 49 before his development he's a solid passer and the three-point
09:17shooting is going to be big never a good thing and Jace tremendously skilled
09:23but that's a smaller or and you know how physical the game has gotten so that
09:29create some issues for him until he on defense Carter's to no avail but there's
09:40Jones with the putback it's a third Clifford over to Silva his first three
09:49point attempt bottoms his first NBA he's been struggling to find opportunities to
09:54get shots off Stevens on the baseline it's off with BCA on the glass crusher for
10:02three I candy time triple there I got us tell you why those are big time triples
10:14too because again the offense has it been pretty pressures bail them out from the
10:21corner good attack it just seems like anytime you can get the ball in the paint
10:26with two feet good things happen with the mandate from a defensive standpoint of
10:33establishing an identity there and offer their fan base this upcoming season you
10:39know the legend Isaiah Thomas always informs me about BJ off I'm gonna give him an
10:45assist such a pretty play so it's a seven point deficit the largest damage
10:53revolution yeah five-point game that was a who we are we we we we we we we we we to
11:02sit too long but the Orlando Magic they get it going at the end of the third
11:08quarter it turned us into a five-point game and but the most important part of
11:13that interview with 3d he called him sir yeah twice like yes wait there go to
11:19Stanford he went he went to the they just in the west we'd obviously got a desert
11:25wait wait so you're saying Stanford is just another school it's a good school but in
11:30the fourth quarter the GA ism the BCA no quit in him he's had a ferocious throw down back to
11:41back soft touches around the basket been good defensively been active credit for
11:47that they have made the opposing team really struggle to create quality looks
11:52in the half court and then really neither teams look to play with how much of an
11:57impact that Sham God had on him in Dallas what he's been as an inspiration and as
12:02a end of the game of basketball you know who God Sham God is and you're right he's
12:06got a way to connect with guys how about that up Tim and those offense and
12:11Damian Kingsley throwing it down it's a nine-point Kings lead when we return we're
12:17gonna hear from Scott Perry here today and so you want to just make sure that the
12:23moment is not too big for them and to see 22 23 are you going into the draft
12:29thinking okay we need guys that can come in and contribute immediately and going
12:34after guys a little bit more
12:35but I know how important having that quarterback on the floor is you know he
12:42initiates not only your offense but your defense came to a roster quite frankly it
12:47really didn't have a true point guard on it so we're gonna be looking to do that
12:51I'm watching Nick Clipper in our practices maybe in a backup capacity at that position
12:57I'm hoping because he's got a really good basketball IQ he passes well with both hands
13:02and so uh I mean how does it help when you have a guy like DeMontis Sabonis when you go look for
13:07point guards or guys that can handle when you have a big man that passes so well
13:11with us here on this broadcast of the Kings in the Orlando Magic Chris is starting to play a little
13:16golf now oh Chris is playing a little golf now how many strokes is Greg giving you so I know
13:20all right appreciate you and good luck next season Scott Perry we we appreciate it
13:25it's a seven nothing run by the Orlando Magic we got a five-point game with two and
13:30five seconds on the shot clock Carter goes kicks it to Clifford who's up up and away
13:40may not translate at the next level and that that's sometimes what can hold a guy with incredible
13:45talent 26 years old three-time all G League selection handling the guard duties against Clifford loses it
13:57but Pinda the second round pick is up and in with 12 seconds separated himself he looked like a guy
14:04that had been in the NBA in the prior season so uh oh they called a timeout and it was oh that might
14:14have been an inadvertent was impressive thing for me down the stretch he was very poised under control
14:19and and really kind of stay rose now has 17 points on 10 free throw attempts the Kings with the gets
14:28to go do you miss this on purpose well probably I mean listen six weeks I kind of feel good about
14:36sack right now so I'm gonna go out on a limb I'm picking sack the windows for 14 0 for 4 from long range but
14:44man 29 points it is G 26 those five G League games Richardson for three and that's how it ends with the
14:54going to roll out with the crown 80
