00:00the blue jays really are one of the stories matt of the first half right of the baseball season

00:03staying in it uh not just staying in it but being in first place they've actually taken

00:07a lead on the yankees they finally dropped one back yesterday but you know certainly i think

00:12you've got to give a lot of credit to that team and as you and i have talked before outside of

00:17the tigers to me the blue jays should be that one franchise out there that's gotta rally for the

00:23fan base here and do a lot to try to get back in the postseason it's been a bit yeah it has and

00:29it's not for lack of trying i mean how many summers in or off seasons i should say in a row have we

00:34gone into it hearing the blue jays were going to be in on the big free agents and had these plans and

00:39right as the plane was flying to toronto it it got turned around because the players signed somewhere

00:45else so we know the blue jays you know want to do right by their fans and they've tried they just

00:51haven't been able to do it but it started early this year when they locked up vlad jr and and now

00:56they're actually paying it off on the field and they're they're a real interesting team because

01:00when you just sort of look at them on paper you know they they obviously have good players but

01:05there's not a lot that really jumps out stat stats wise as oh look look at these guys having these

01:10incredible seasons but they play great defense the pitching's been good enough they get it they get

01:16the right hitting at the right time just enough they got some pop and you put it all together and and

01:21you have one of the surprise teams of the season so you know to your point i think they do owe it to

01:25their fans i think they owe it to themselves to really go for it here because they got an opportunity

01:29with the yankees scuffling a little bit not playing quite up to their standards and dealing

01:33with some of these injuries they have to their rotation i think that this is an opportunity for

01:38the blue jays to really go for it and i expect them to yeah and and the yankees as you mentioned

01:43probably will address the pitching brian cashman the general manager came out yesterday and said that

01:47that's one category that they have to attack here but you know look they got a great performance

01:52let's call it what it was from their starting pitcher cam schlitter he could be part of the

01:57solution for them as they miss cole louis heel i mean they've had a lot of injuries there's no doubt

02:01but other teams have injuries too mad the dodgers do too now all of a sudden it's rearing its head

02:06losing six games in a row but maybe this is a pitcher that can help him in the second half of the season

02:12although i would imagine there are there is probably a name or two out there that we haven't addressed

02:17yet that in less than a month we'll be wearing pinstripes i would guess yeah i would imagine i

02:21mean obviously we know the yankees aren't just gonna gonna go with what they have especially if

02:26they feel they they need that extra piece and you know he is a good young pitcher you look at the

02:30minor league stats the k's are always high the walks aren't crazy now can he continue that at the

02:35major league level while keeping the ball in the yard that that's always that that step for these guys

02:40who come up uh and and they have strikeout stuff they'll they'll get through you know a few lineups the

02:46first couple times they face them but then a book gets out on them and we'll see if they can keep it

02:50up but yeah i definitely expect the yankees to make some moves we know what they do we know they

02:54got the resources uh to do it but yeah they're gonna be there to the end i mean you know just a couple

03:00weeks ago and i thought they were about to run you know run away with the division and and here we

03:05are things change and can change quickly even over the long course of an mlb season so it's been

03:10fascinating to watch sort of that back and forth in the nle's i did not expect the division or excuse me

03:15the al east i did not expect that division to be to go the way it has i don't think anyone has with

03:20baltimore struggling and and and some of these other teams contending so it's been fun to watch
