Do people feel safe shopping on Oxford Street?|The London Question
Transcript
00:00Not too safe.
00:01So far pretty safe.
00:02I don't have a problem with it whatsoever.
00:04I feel like everyone gets their phones snatched.
00:07So sometimes if I'm on my phone, I like hold it like this.
00:11I'll go like not roadside, like pavement side.
00:14I wouldn't get it out while I'm walking along the street.
00:17I always wait till I'm in a cafe.
00:19Somebody come up to me, try to take my phone, I'll just say,
00:21no, you can't have my phone, unless I had a knife.
00:23Same with the handbag, always hold on to the strap.
00:26I just am very aware though of my surroundings.
00:29If I can avoid going on my phone, I'll avoid going on my phone,
00:32just because you never really know where it's going to get snatched.
00:35You just can't believe it.
00:36People have just got to be more vigilant, really.
00:40I think people need to be more aware and, you know,
00:43the police need to do what they need to do
00:44and people need to be more aware too.
00:46You can't think that the world revolves around them.
00:48I mean, I grew up in London, so I feel fine walking around.
00:50I think you've just got to be a little bit more conscious of your surroundings.
00:53People are going to do what they're going to do, you know.
00:55Cost of living's increased, people are struggling,
00:58and therefore crime rates are going to increase based on, you know, life scenario.
01:04If you look at the name of your parents, then you most likely have to be more aware of,
01:08you know, just going to be in the beginning of the day.
01:10I think it's important for me to be aware of this.
01:12It's going to be a little bit more for us to be aware of the team.
