Leeds: Your reflections on the cost of school uniform

00:00I came from a single parent family and I know that it was quite a struggle for my mum to

00:03every year pay for a new uniform obviously because I was getting bigger I was growing

00:07upwards and outwards at that point. So yeah I think if I mean all of our schools seem to

00:17enforce school uniform so if they're going to enforce it I think there should be help

00:20available for people that haven't got the funds. The school should provide uniform for kids

00:24for all kids at no cost because school's responsible to provide individually and look

00:32after them safeguard them. There should be some provision especially parents from or children

00:38from lower income households to be able to have some sort of subsidy or even go as far as making

00:45them free. In the US they don't wear school uniform and the purpose of school uniform implemented in

00:51Britain in England is so all children feel equal no one feels above anyone else but if

00:56equality is what they're looking for then they shouldn't charge people for the uniform.
