Residents of the mountain resort village of Ruidoso in New Mexico, USA are reeling from the aftermath of the massive July 8 flash flood that has killed at least three people.

The floods triggered by torrential rainfall trapped many residents and vehicles sweeping away buildings and structures, four days after floods in central Texas claimed 119 lives.

00:25Yeah, so I was on the second level and when I saw that the flood was, the waters were
00:40getting higher than the marker for last year, I got my dog and just went up the hill.
00:47The garage here, that lifts it up and that's what smashed into the lower part of my cabin.
00:54I just took out the supporting wall.
01:07It's essentially devastating and scary because we didn't know how it was going to happen or
01:11what was going to happen. We didn't know. I didn't know it was going to be this bad.
01:16It's definitely scary, unpredicting, but it could have been avoided.
01:22They just needed to really watch, maybe dig the river a little bit deeper.
01:27Maybe, because there are certain zones that are like flood, like on Flood Watch always,
01:33could have gotten people out of there when they knew monsoon season was coming around.
01:37They had all the information to be able to prevent it.
01:41Not prevent the flood in the sense, but prevent from other accidents.
01:46I'm just helping out the community as much as I can.
01:48I'm just, you know, wherever they need help, I'm going to try and be there as much as possible,
01:53either cleaning, moving, whatever there needs to be, I'm here to help out.
01:57Going in and out, different communities, different spots, see what I can do.
