INS Surat: India’s new stealth guided-missile destroyer enhances Naval power under project 15B

Mumbai, July 9, 2025 (ANI): Indian Navy under Project 15B (Visakhapatnam-class). Built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), the ship is named after the historic port city of Surat in Gujarat, symbolizing India’s growing naval power and indigenous shipbuilding expertise.

01:00So, our weapon systems and the sensor suite are very advanced.

01:09There is a lot of automation and we get a lot of detection ranges and targeting ranges.

01:19It is one of the most advanced systems. It is a treat to sit and operate on that system.

01:24Our crew is adequately trained and its optimum training.

01:29And then we undertake a lot of fact sizes.

01:32We are in weapon firing regularly so that the aircraft will be ready for any mission.

01:45So, we are ready anytime, anywhere, anyhow.

01:48So, we heard about our record taking launch to 10.

01:50Yes. So, that is coming of age of Indian shipbuilding.

01:53You see, when you have larger numbers, when you build ships in 7, 7 of a type or 10 of a type,

01:59then you get these shrunk timelines and truly what a record.

02:03Two and a half years from launch to commissioning.

02:36whether it is engine room or, you know, sitting on the sensors or operating the gun

02:41or, you know, any Adam job, paperwork or making meals on board.

02:47So, they are doing the job and you are aware that Navy has opened both officer and sailor carder for induction of women.

02:56So, women can be accommodated on board and there is no limit to the number of women officers or women sailors we can carry.

03:04So, our accommodation spaces are in living conditions.

03:09I mean, we can accommodate. The 100% of the ship can be women. There is no problem in that.
