00:00Mahavir was a great fighter, was he not?
00:02Just that he was fighting the evil inside.
00:05He said this body keeps clamoring for food, I'll fight it.
00:08His wailer is no less than that of the Sikh gurus who fought on the battlefield.
00:14Both are fighting the false.
00:16Both are fighting that which seeks to envelop and eclipse godliness.
00:21When hunger arises, you forget God, don't you?
00:24And when the enemy is overpowering you, then again you forget God.
00:28You just start seeking your own physical safety.
00:31You see what is violence then?
00:32To forget God, to forget the truth.
00:34What is non-violence?
00:35To fight that which makes you forget the truth.
00:38So non-violence actually means you have to fight.
00:41If you're not a fighter, you cannot be non-violent.
00:43Religious terms have to be again and again re-interpreted.
00:49They have to be again and again clarified.
00:51And no, non-violence does not mean that if you're slapped on one cheek,
00:54you will show the other cheek to the same fellow.
00:56Only a real fighter can practice non-violence.
00:59Don't turn cowards.
