In June and July 2025, businessman and former presidential advisor Elon Musk and U.S. President Donald Trump engaged in a series of social media attacks, primarily across X (formerly Twitter) and Truth Social, following Musk's exit from the second Trump administration with his criticisms of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, a bill intended to be landmark legislation for Trump.

Prior to being political allies in 2024, Musk and Trump shared a history of mutual provocation. In 2022, Musk described Trump as an unsuitable president due to his age in response to Trump calling him a "bullshit artist". At a rally in Michigan in July 2025, Trump escalated the feud by stating, “Maybe it’s time he went back to where he came from”. He later added, “We’ll be reviewing his immigration status very closely.” Although Musk became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2002, the remarks were widely interpreted by media outlets as a symbolic escalation of their personal and political conflict.

00:00Billionaire Elon Musk said Saturday he is forming a third political party after a dramatic falling
00:09out with Donald Trump, indicating he will make good on threats he made if the president's
00:13domestic policy bill became law. When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste and graft,
00:19we live in a one-party system, not a democracy, Trump's former first buddy said on his social
00:24media platform, x. Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom. Musk,
00:30the largest individual donor to Trump's 2024 presidential campaign and, until recently,
00:36a close advisor to the president who spearheaded his administration's push to cut government waste,
00:41had criticized Trump's big beautiful bill because of estimates that it would add trillions of dollars
00:46to the federal deficit. Source, CNN.
00:50So he calls his new launch the America Party. The president calls it ridiculous. Billionaire and
01:00former Trump friend had been teasing the idea for weeks. Now, Elon Musk posting on X that he's
01:06set up the America Party to challenge the Republican and Democratic Uniparty. Let's bring in our resident
01:12expert in all things Elon Musk. We'll stake in for a little scoop on the latest dispute between the
01:17world's richest man and his former best or, yeah, former bestie, you should say. A bromance that
01:24definitely blew up quickly. A lot of love lost there, for sure, if there was even really true
01:29love at all. What do you think Elon Musk is doing? Is this for real? You know, I mean, it certainly looks
01:35like a great strategy, at least for maybe his perspective, to get back at Donald Trump. I mean,
01:41this was initially, like you said in the intro, this was initially launched when the president was
01:46moving forward. The big, beautiful bill earlier this last month, Musk put out there, maybe he
01:50should start his own party. You know, there was kind of a back and forth back then. It seemed like
01:54the president got the upper hand. We started threatening Elon Musk's contracts, which his
01:59companies rely heavily on. And, you know, now with this bill being passed and Musk being out on the
02:04cold in terms of the tax credit, he's back at it saying he's going to launch this party. You know,
02:10we're going to have to see how that actually plays out. There's been no FEC filing. We haven't seen any
02:14real paperwork. He just posted it over the weekend. And, you know, it's coming as he's also attacking
02:20the president for a number of other things, like this Epstein announcement and whether or not there's
02:24a connection, which he's made these allegations, which, you know, are currently unfounded. So it
02:29seems like another tit for tat. We're going to have to see, you know, if there's any actually real
02:32juice behind it. Well, that's what I wanted to follow up with is, was it anything specifically
02:38filed? Do we know if this is indeed going forward? And what exactly, you know, what are the details
02:44of this party? But it sounds like right now he's just sort of thrown it out there and he's said
02:49things before and then he's reversed course. So, I mean, what are your inside sources telling you?
02:56Sorry. So talking to, you know, people that know him well, this is kind of a recurring thing with
03:00with Elon Musk. He'll get really excited, really invested in an idea, pour a lot of time and energy
03:06into it. And if it starts to get tough, sometimes he just kind of drops it. You know, he's been
03:10criticized for doing that with Twitter and X. He's now back, seemingly involved in it. Doge is
03:14another example, was all in on Doge. And then things got tough with the government, can't go in
03:19there with a chainsaw and he's out of the government. So some folks have been warning,
03:23like, you know, this is a starting a party is not something you can just do overnight. That takes a
03:28lot of work. And is he going to follow through with that? But he's at least saying he does have a
03:32political strategy. He wants to go after, you know, a few senators, a few members of the House to try to
03:38have some leverage when there's these like bills, like the big, beautiful bill and try to, you know,
03:42try to put his will on. Exactly. But, you know, people like the president's allies and the president
03:47say that's just going to hand Democrats the House and the Senate. So we'll see if he follows through.
03:52Stay tuned. In other words, we're to come. Yes. All right. Well, thank you so much.
04:02In response to Musk's threat to start a new political party, Trump threatened to investigate
04:07the billionaire's government contracts and subsidies. Last week, Trump said Doge may become
04:13a monster that may go back and eat Elon. Trump on Sunday slammed the idea as of Musk starting a third
04:19party ridiculous. I think starting a third party just adds to confusion, Trump told reporters.
04:26It really seems to have been developed for two parties. Third parties have never worked,
04:32so he can have fun with it. But I think it's ridiculous. The president went further in a social
04:36media post, lashing out at Musk directly. I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely
04:42off the rails, essentially becoming a train wreck over the past five weeks, Trump wrote on
04:47his conservative social media platform, Truth Social. He even wants to start a third political
04:53party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States.
04:57The system seems not designed for them.
