During a White House press briefing on Monday, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was asked about President Trump warning countries against aligning themselves with "Anti-American" BRICS policies.
Transcript
00:00Thank you, Caroline. On two topics.
00:02I love the rest. I know everyone is on Monday. Yes, for Kelly, you can go after.
00:06On two topics. First, tariffs. The President announced last night that any countries aligning themselves with the anti-American policies of BRICS will be charged with an additional 10% tariff.
00:17Can you tell us more details on that? What specific policies is the President talking about here?
00:22What policies should countries stay away from to avoid being subject to additional tariffs?
00:26Well, the President feels, generally speaking, that BRICS is seeking to undermine the interests of the United States.
00:32It's the President's utmost responsibility to put the interests of the United States first. That's how he views his job as President.
00:38So he's going to ensure that America is fairly treated on the world stage, and he'll take any action necessary to prevent countries from taking advantage of the United States.
