While taking questions from reporters with President Trump, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was asked if he supports regime change in Iran.
Transcript
00:00Bad surprises.
00:01Mr. President, again, real quick, on Iran, in your view, is the war between Israel and Iran over,
00:09or do those talks need to happen before you can...
00:12Well, I would say that the best man to answer that is the prime minister.
00:17But I will tell you that, in my view, I hope it's over.
00:21Yeah, I think Iran wants to meet, I think they want to make peace, and I'm all for it.
00:26Now, if that's not the case, we are ready, willing, and able.
00:29But I don't think we're going to have to be, but I think Bibi would answer that question very well.
00:35I think the partnership between Israel and the United States,
00:40the partnership between President Trump and me, produced a historic victory.
00:46It's an incredible victory, actually.
00:49It brought the greatest capabilities of the United States that are matched
00:54with the great capabilities of Israel,
00:58Israel and the army of Israel, pilots of Israel, soldiers of Israel, and the Mossad.
01:06And the combination of these two extraordinary capacities
01:10produced a decisive result.
01:13It set back the two tumors that were threatening the life of Israel,
01:20the nuclear tumor and the ballistic missile tumor,
01:26because they were planning to build 20,000 of these things
01:29and launch it in a country the size of New Jersey.
01:32No country could withstand that.
01:34So what do you do when you have two things that are going to kill you?
01:38You have to remove them.
01:39With our combined effort, we did.
01:42But when you remove a tumor, it doesn't mean that it can't come back.
01:44You have to constantly monitor the situation to make sure that there's no attempt to bring it back.
01:50So we've had a great achievement, and I think part of the effort of consolidating this
01:56and ensuring that we don't have to repeat this is to monitor this carefully.
02:02Of course, the president and I are talking about it.
02:04Our teams are talking about it.
02:05But there's no question.
02:06This is a historic victory.
02:08And I think, as was said here today, this has already changed the face of the Middle East.
02:15But it's not over in your view.
02:15But I think that there's an opportunity here to create a historic expansion of the Abraham Accords,
02:23which were themselves an act of history, that deserve a noble prize for the president.
02:29But I think the opportunities are much bigger.
02:31And I hope, I'd like to believe, that Iran would not test our fortitude because it would be a mistake.
02:41It's better to go a different way.
02:42Do you believe that regime change is still necessary there?
02:45I think it's up to the people.
