5 people have pleaded not guilty in connection to the murder of 40 year old Joanne Penney, as well as a number of others also pleading not guilty to firearms and organised crime-related charges. An inquest found that Joanne Penney was killed by a gunshot to the chest which caused fatal injuries to her heart and lung.

00:00Five people have pleaded not guilty to the murder of a woman who was shot dead at a house
00:05in Talbot Green earlier this year.
00:0740-year-old Joanne Penny was found with serious injuries at a property in Sleis Issted on
00:12March 9th after emergency services were called to the address and were unable to save her
00:17and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
00:19A post-mortem later revealed she died after being shot in the chest, with the bullet causing
00:23fatal injuries to her heart and lungs.
00:27On Monday, seven people appeared before Cardiff Crown Court to deny a series of charges relating
00:31to Ms Penny's death.
00:33Joshua Gordon, 27, Marcus Huntley, 20, Jordan Mills Smith, 33, Christina Genova, 21 and Tony
00:40Porter, 68, all pleaded not guilty to murder.
00:43All five, along with two other defendants, Sy Raj Man and Molly Cooper, also denied taking
00:48part in the activities of an organised crime group between March 2023 and March 2024.
00:55Sy Raj Man, who's 25, of no fixed address, also denied possessing a modified 8mm self-loading
01:01pistol without authority.
01:03Meanwhile 33-year-old Molly Cooper from Leicester pleaded not guilty to possessing 16 reloaded
01:08blank cartridges containing improvised projectiles, also without a firearm certificate.
01:14An eighth person charged with Ms Penny's murder, 39-year-old Melissa Qualey Dasva, was not in court
01:20but also due to stand trial.
01:22In a statement released shortly after her death, Joanne's family said they were devastated
01:27by the loss of someone they described as a daughter, mother, sister and niece loved deeply
01:31by all who knew her.
01:33Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clark, the recorder of Cardiff, confirmed that all defendants will remain
01:37in custody ahead of a nine-week trial scheduled to begin in October.
