00:00Recently the Indian Space Research Organization or ISRO had a momentous achievement landing the
00:10nation's first lunar lander on the moon. We were treated to images of the Pragyan rover taking its
00:15first stroll across the regolith covered surface. Now ISRO has released the first-ever images of
00:20the moon's south pole. The Chandrayaan-3 mission is only expected to last one lunar day or the
00:26equivalent of two weeks here on Earth. This is one of the first photos the rover sent back,
00:31encountering a massive 13-foot-wide crater directly in its path, likely the first of many
00:36Pragyan will come by during its unprecedented exploration of the moon's south pole. The ISRO
00:41said that the rover had successfully navigated around the crater and is quote, safely heading on a new
00:46path. Russia's space program recently attempted a lunar landing in a nearby area as well, however
00:51it crashed into the moon while attempting to enter its orbit. India's lander will continue its
00:56spectroscopy experiments and looking for water all ahead of the country's solar orbiter launch
01:01scheduled for next month.
