Transcript
00:00And we got some breaking heat news.
00:02The Miami Heat have just traded for Norman Powell in a three-teamer with the Jazz and Clippers.
00:11The Heat are acquiring the very high-scoring shooting guard from L.A.
00:19Last year of his deal makes $20 million this season.
00:21He'll be a free agent after next year, unless the Heat are going to extend him.
00:24Um, John Collins, who was in some Heat rumors, he's going to the Clippers.
00:31Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson, and a Clippers 2027 second-round pick to the Jazz.
00:38So the Heat essentially got Norman Powell for two expiring deals and flipped for the expiring deals.
00:44But they gave up nothing for him.
00:46I mean, respectfully to Kevin Love, didn't play last year because of everything he was going through.
00:50And Kyle Anderson, slow-mo, it was a great 30 games, dude.
00:55So the Miami Heat go and get a guy who's a career 40% three-point shooter, had a career-high nearly 22 points a game last, uh, last season.
01:04Um, it's, uh, I mean, we were talking a lot.
01:08I think we were all expecting, hey, were the Heat going to get in line for the Bradley Beal sweepstakes that are probably going to start here?
01:14This would obviously...
01:15You want Bradley Beal?
01:16Well, I'm just saying that there was, there was a lot, you know, Leroy, there was a lot of fodder over the weekend.
01:21Whether I want him or not, there was a lot of talk.
01:23I don't, I don't really think it made a lot of sense, but he's, like, you're essentially getting a guy, uh, with the Clippers last year who did exactly, who did exactly what Bradley Beal is, same age as Bradley Beal.
01:34Um, and is a better shooter than Bradley Beal.
01:38Right.
01:39But it's, uh, man, we got action, Jack!
01:42We got action!
01:44And, as Emmanuel, uh, points out, does open up a roster spot for Miami, so in case they do want to get Damien Lillard...
01:51Wink!
01:53So...
01:54They now have a roster move.
01:56I, I mean, I, I hear you.
01:58David said, did we learn nothing last year?
02:00Terry Rozier, a shooter, uh, a looter and a riot.
02:03Yeah, but they weren't bad last year.
02:06Like, Terry Rozier was on an awful, awful Hornets team.
02:09The Clippers weren't bad last year.
02:10Right.
02:12Like, that's not, you know, that's not a, uh, it's not a problem.
02:15They just did, I think what they're at is, look, they've already spent a lot of money on that team.
02:20They probably got to, I don't know what Zubach is, but Zubach has had an amazing season.
02:24They got to trim some fat on that team.
02:26So, I think with Norman Powell being on an expiring...
02:29Now, I don't know where this puts the heat as far as, are they planning to extend Norman Powell?
02:34Uh, I don't know.
02:35I think that this is, but it definitely gives them that scoring punch that they were looking for.
02:40I mean, we talked about this heat team with no Duncan Robinson, Leroy.
02:44No shooting.
02:45I mean, no shooting.
02:47Hey, let me ask you guys this question.
02:49Yep.
02:49What do you think the heat's over under is?
02:52I know what it is.
02:54Okay.
02:56But...
02:56Frog Boy?
02:57Do you want to, uh, do you want to get Frog Boy on it?
03:00Yeah.
03:00I would say 40.
03:03Oh, no.
03:03Hey, let me ask you something.
03:05Yeah.
03:06Did you read the show?
03:08Why?
03:08Is it on there?
03:10Or did you just happen to hear it?
03:12Who, me?
03:13Yeah, you.
03:13Oh, you're talking to Leroy.
03:14Okay.
03:14No, I was looking at the email.
03:16You looked at the email?
03:18Oh, you got the email.
03:19Oh, so you got the over-unders from, like, Beto, uh, from Beto, Beto Line?
03:23Yeah.
03:24Oh, I thought he actually read the show.
03:25I'm so proud of him.
03:26Because I actually put it on there.
03:29Wait, you put it on there?
03:30I'm so stupid.
03:31I'm a stupid boy.
03:32Yeah.
03:33Oh.
03:33I'm a stupid boy.
03:34Oh.
03:35Why would I think that?
03:37So, wait.
03:39So.
03:40Oh, I see what that is.
03:41Magic says 81, I'm guessing.
03:44Magic 81.
03:45I would take Bradley, Bill, or Lillard.
03:47But, dude, what has plagued you the last three years, you cannot sign up for that again.
03:55You can't.
03:57I don't care what you think of the player.
04:00Like, if you've been scarred, and Pat Riley has been scarred by the injuries and not knowing
04:09what to do with the talent because you never see the talent on the court, it would be buffoonery
04:17to then go out and sign an injured player.
04:21I'm curious about this with Norman.
04:24Like, do you think with bringing him in, is he going to start?
04:30Because he was, he was essentially, he was essentially a sixth man, like the last two years, his first
04:36two years in LA.
04:37So, he's used to that role.
04:38But we know Tyler and Davion being on the team, like, you're not starting all three of those
04:45guys.
04:45I wouldn't think.
04:46Is he?
04:47But, but doesn't he play the same position as Tyler?
04:51Pretty much.
04:52Yeah.
04:53So, that means he's coming off the bench.
04:54Pretty much.
04:56But.
04:57That means he's coming off the bench.
04:58And then it could go small periodically.
05:00Unless.
05:01Uh-oh.
05:02Move before the move.
05:05Whoa.
05:07What if it's the move before the move?
05:09The move before the move.
05:11Because then they're Trey Tyler.
05:13I'm just asking.
05:14I don't know.
05:15I don't know.
05:15I'm just.
05:17I don't know.
05:18I mean, it's something he's obviously, he's obviously used to.
05:21He just had the best year of his career starting for the Clippers.
05:24Probably, you know, as somebody mentioned, TNT had him as, like, their number one all-star
05:29snub last year.
05:30Unless they put him at three.
05:32Put him at the three.
05:33That's a small.
05:34That's a small.
05:35That's a small one through three.
05:38Without anybody who can really, well, play defense.
05:43Davion, I don't know, get in your face a little bit.
05:45Yeah, Davion can play defense.
05:46But he's, he's, he's essentially, he's, you know, I'm just saying it's, it's small.
05:51That's all.
05:52I guess you could do it.
05:54No, it's not like it, it's not like you could, you would have, look, you'd have two
05:58dynamic shooters out there.
06:01So I'm just wondering, is it the move before the move or is it, who would we acquire though?
06:07Like, cause I see everyone's like, get here all out of there.
06:09Who's like, because I'm, I'm done with Bradley Beal.
06:12I'd never want to hear his name again.
06:13I want him to retire.
06:14Well, you know, you don't have to worry about that anymore.
06:16I would think.
06:17Doesn't, doesn't, doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to bring him into.
06:21That's what I love.
06:22But Tyler hero, who like, I see everyone saying in the chat, for example, trade him, get, move
06:28on from him.
06:28Who, who else, who else are we going to acquire?
06:31Why?
06:31I don't understand.
06:33Why does everybody want to move on from Tyler?
06:36I don't get it.
06:36I don't, I don't know.
06:37I think it just has to do with the payday.
06:38That's what they're scared of.
06:40Like he's going to, he's going to be, there's a lot of people that think he's no good.
06:44There's a lot of people who are, are just, you know, he, look, he hasn't had a lot of
06:47playoff success since he was a rookie.
06:49But well, and here's the deal.
06:52When your team was better and you qualify for the playoffs, then Tyler looks different.
07:00But in a lot of aspects of his game, he's better.
07:03He has gotten a lot better.
07:04So why, you see what I mean?
07:06Why are you fed up now?
07:08Cause the team's not doing well.
07:09Well, that has a lot to do with a lot more than one guy.
07:12That's fair.
07:13It's totally fair.
07:14He's not, he's, it's not like the roster has been well-constructed.
07:17He hasn't.
07:17And that's the thing.
07:18That's an interesting part about bam and Tyler is like, it's not that either one of
07:22them aren't good players nor deserving of making a lot of money.
07:26They're just not good at what they were asked to do.
07:29Um, but also the best, but also when you're paying max money, if they're not guys who are
07:34a ones now look, man, they just got a lot more talented.
07:38They did just get a lot more talented.
07:40So like you're, you just essentially flipped two guys who are end of the bench guys for,
07:45you know, one of the Clippers most important players last year and they were a lot better
07:50than you.
07:51So, but it is, but you, you mentioned like, Hey, this guy has a lot of that, that style
07:58there.
07:58Now, are they just, Hey, more shooting you're going, you're going like Celtic style.
08:04Uh, you're going Pacer style of like, who cares?
08:08Let's just get a lot of guys who can shoot and score and let's have some fun baby because
08:13that, that like, let's, let's be real about it.
08:15Like the heat of stunk at offense, but they also haven't a lot of, they haven't had a lot
08:18of talented offensive players either.
08:20Right.
08:20Jimmy can score, but you wouldn't consider him like a bonafide bucket getter.
08:29Yeah.
08:30And especially in the regular season, like it's, it's been like his, his uptick in the, in
08:34the playoffs is crazy.
08:35Like it's one of the, like, he doesn't have the, I know he says, playoff Jimmy's not a
08:39thing, but there's a reason why we're all flummoxed.
08:41He doesn't shoot threes until he gets to the playoffs.
08:43Oh, well one, he's playoff Jimmy because he plays all the damn games.
08:47Sometimes he did miss some others.
08:49Oh, geez.
08:50That Hawk series.
08:54Crazy.
08:55I did forget Wiggins is still on the team though.
08:57We still do.
08:58He is still on the team.
08:59There was some, uh, there was some, uh, there was some Wiggins fodder last week about the
09:03Lakers.
09:04Yeah.
09:05Who just picked up Aiton, right?
09:06Not too long ago.
09:07A couple of days ago.
09:07Now all of a sudden the Lakers want, now all of a sudden, uh, well, I want to play with Wiggins.
09:13Yeah.
09:13All of a sudden.
09:14Well, maybe he doesn't.
09:15I don't know.
09:15Maybe they think LeBron's, uh, you know, looking around being like, I'm going to get out of
09:19here.
09:20I'll tell you one thing though.
09:23I watched that Dalton connect yesterday in summer league.
09:26Woof.
09:27Oh, not good.
09:28Oh, now to be fair.
09:31Yeah.
09:32Our, our sweet little Lithuanian Luca.
09:34No.
09:35Tough start.
09:37Rough.
09:37It's been a tough start.
09:38Bronny James took his cookies, man.
09:41Wait, wait, wait.
09:42First of all, he'd been a pro for not even a week.
09:47I'm just saying, Hey, I'm not saying that he's bad.
09:51I'm just saying tough start.
09:53I mean, like it's funny because your worst game can't be your first one.
09:59Otherwise you got, well, it wasn't his second one was his worst one.
10:05Incredibly as bad as his first one was yesterday was worse.
10:09Yeah.
10:09Cause his first one he shot bad, but he contributed in other ways.
10:13Yesterday he contributed to the Lakers.
10:16Okay.
10:17All right.
10:17Turnovers.
10:18Oh, dude.
10:21Still love them though.
10:22Hustle.
10:23Intangibles.
10:24That's the thing I've seen most of them.
10:26I'm like, let's get hustles.
10:32I don't know.
10:33I'm trying to go back to the stats, but I believe Jovic had a, had a slow start as well in summer league.
10:39And if not, then I don't know.
10:42Something gives me hope though, that although he started slow, we had something like this similar.
10:46Hey, you don't think some of these guys come into this situation and they're a little too ramped up and they're excited.
10:56He definitely looks like he's, uh, he's playing with squeaky cheeks.
11:00Like he's, he's definitely like he had a, he had a play yesterday and it was like, Oh, this is going to be an awesome.
11:06And he like, he did a bounce pass that bounced so damn high Leroy.
11:10Like it looked like he was playing with a super rubber ball.
11:12I was like, but it would have been sweet if he finished it.
11:17I was like, wow.
11:18You can see, you can see some things, but he's definitely playing tight right now.
11:22But everybody knows this.
11:24Look, everybody knows this.
11:26Anybody worth their salt.
11:29Some of the don't start till Vegas.
11:30Everybody knows that.
11:31All right.
11:32This is the preseason.
11:33Wait, wait, wait.
11:33Can I ask you another question?
11:35That's true.
11:36If that's the case, then why are you getting all crazy on him already?
11:41Oh, I'm not getting crazy.
11:41I'm not getting crazy.
11:43I'm not getting crazy.
11:43I'm just explaining.
11:44I'm just telling you what happened.
11:45Okay.
11:48I found the, uh, stat that I was looking for.
11:51Essentially.
11:52Yo, which first two, uh, summer league games and 22, he had just nine points.
11:59He was, uh, one for seven from three and four for 14 overall.
12:04And then in the third one, he had like 25 points.
12:06So maybe that happens the same thing with, uh, our boy ghosty.
12:09Maybe he does the same thing.
12:10Oh, Leroy.
12:11Yeah.
12:11I mean, that was my original.
12:13And Leroy was like, he's 19.
12:16Like those first couple of games by yo bitch.
12:18Yeesh.
12:21I'm actually, it's not even the thing I'm most concerned about with summer league,
12:24but I got to take a break.
12:26I'll tell you what it is.
12:28We'll continue talking about this.
12:29Norman Powell trade.
12:30If you're just tuning in the Miami heat, I've traded for no one pound, a three team deal.
12:33Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson headed to the jazz, the Clippers sending John or the Clippers
12:38get John Collins from the jazz who also the Clippers sent a second round pick, but the
12:43heater get Norman Powell.
12:44Great season last year for the Clippers in the last year of his deal, making 20 million,
12:48uh, 32 years old shooting guard.
12:50Add some shooting to the heat.
12:52Pat Riley is awake.
