00:19My teacher at school recommended that you guys should start a band.

00:22We were like, yeah, we should be in a band together.

00:24We made a demo, printed as many as we could, and then we FedExed them to the yellow pages of rock.

00:36I was collecting all these rejection letters, like it's not for us at this point.

00:40Atlantic Records was coming to Montreal to sign another band.

00:43It felt like it was the last chance.

00:48And the next day he says like, let's make a record.

00:50I'm signing Sybil Blatt, sorry.

00:52I'm getting emotional to think about it, but yeah, it worked.

00:57The album came out.

00:58It was such an underwhelming moment.

01:00We're going to buy our record.

01:01It was not available.

01:02No radio station played it.

01:04There was a lot of bands that made me feel like we weren't good enough.

01:07These guys are new, they're going to have to pay their dues.

01:09Do you fight to be in a club that you'll always feel like you're not really a part of?

01:30They are the definition of brotherhood.

01:32You love your brother, but you want to strangle him sometimes.

01:35Simple Plan was one of the first bands that I felt like I could help out.

01:44Sometimes it feels like nothing's changed.
