00:00In this video, we're curing a thousand people's blindness.
00:04It's going to be crazy.
00:05Most of us see the world like this.
00:08But here's the thing.
00:09200 million people see the world like this.
00:14But I just made it one less.
00:17Oh.
00:20Wow.
00:21She's just one of a thousand blind people we help from around the world.
00:25They can't see, but we have all the technology to fix it.
00:28Yep, half of all the blindness in the world is people who need a 10-minute surgery.
00:32Crazy.
00:32Yeah.
00:34Oh my god.
00:35I see everybody.
00:37Oh, I can see clearer.
00:38I can jump for joy.
00:40I can see your face.
00:42I can see your face.
00:43I can see your face.
00:44If you're wondering how the surgery allows people to see again, it's because the lens in their eye got so cloudy that they can't see through it.
00:50So the surgeon uses a tiny vacuum to suck up the clouded lens.
00:53Whoa, it's sucking.
00:55And replace it with an artificial one.
00:56The surgery is that simple.
00:58They can see again.
00:59Whoa.
01:01Oh.
01:09You pay for my surgery?
01:11Yes.
01:12Seriously?
01:13You know what?
01:14Here's $10,000.
01:15Make your day even better.
01:18Is she okay?
01:20We're going to go fix more people's eyesight.
01:21She's squeezing hard.
01:22And we're just getting started.
01:23We still have 980 lives left to change.
01:26Jeez.
01:26There's my watch.
01:27I've never seen it before.
01:28Oh my God.
01:29I had 9 blinders.
01:30I couldn't see.
01:32I can just deal with it in life.
01:34I'm Nolan, by the way.
01:35I'm Carl.
01:35You're Carl?
01:36I know a guy named Carl.
01:37Not a good guy.
01:38Moment of truth.
01:41Wow, you are pretty anxious.
01:43What's it like?
01:44What do you see?
01:45Blur.
01:45How long have you not been able to work for?
01:47Four monks.
01:47Did you hear about the cross-eyed teacher?
01:49She couldn't control her pupils.
01:51I'm going to need anesthetic soon.
01:56Oh man.
01:57No cloudiness.
01:58No blurriness.
01:59Oh, it's perfect.
02:00Now, what's it like?
02:01I can see everything.
02:02I don't need these.
02:10Our next patient is Charlie.
02:12You're not able to read any of this text on the TV?
02:14No.
02:14It's an E or something, I think.
02:16He won't know he won 10 grand until after his surgery.
02:19I can't wait to see his reaction.
02:20Charlie sees everything like this.
02:22And it's made him and his family's life extremely difficult.
02:25I was a cashier.
02:26My eyes was getting so bad that I couldn't see how much the money to give back.
02:30I just want to get my vision back so I can go back to work.
02:33And you're going to be really happy after this surgery.
02:35We'll see after it.
02:36Trust me, you will see.
02:37When patients go into surgery, there's a chance that they can get their life back.
02:41And for Charlie, if the surgery goes well, he can go back to work.
02:47What's the light?
02:49Oh, wow.
02:50All right, let's see if he can read it now.
02:51What does this say?
02:54You just won $10,000.
02:57Here you go.
02:58Oh my gosh.
02:59Oh my gosh.
02:59It feels good.
03:02I didn't think I was ever going to be able to see it again.
03:05Thank you all so much.
03:06I don't want to lose none of it.
03:08I'll hold on to it.
03:09Oh no, I'll hold on to it.
03:12Donnie, Dr. Nolan.
03:13He's not really a doctor.
03:15He's a fool.
03:15Do you need any help?
03:21Wow.
03:22And I just haven't been me for the last six between you.
03:24I could actually see your face.
03:26That's crazy.
03:27That's crazy.
03:29Here, I can read this.
03:31When you come out of the surgery, what's the first thing that you're excited to see?
03:34My son.
03:35He's been my rock through all of this.
03:37Before the operation, you mentioned the first thing you wanted to see was your son.
03:41Seeing him, seeing his face, that's what I miss.
03:44You're going to make me cry.
03:46No, no, you're good, man.
03:47You're good.
03:47You're really good, man.
03:49All right.
03:50Oh my God, man.
03:52There you go.
03:55Look at that.
03:56Don't cry.
03:58I can see everybody's facial features now.
04:01It's a little blurry with my tears coming out.
04:04How's it going?
04:07Okay.
04:08Yeah, I've been subscribed to you for like 11 years.
04:10Really?
04:11Oh my gosh.
04:11Jeremiah has been blind in his right eye since he was born, and it's affected his vision his entire life.
04:17Are you excited to be able to see out of both?
04:18Hopefully, if the surgery goes that way.
04:20Because Jeremiah was born with cataracts, his right eye never received light.
04:25And that means that this surgery only has a 50% chance of working.
04:28I think we go ahead and get it underway, and then we'll just talk post-op.
04:31And while Jeremiah's surgery was underway, I met another young man named Satchel.
04:35Did they tell you I was going to be here?
04:37No.
04:37Good.
04:37He had poor vision from birth, and almost lost his entire vision after a go-karting accident.
04:43All I see is like blur in color.
04:44I can barely see like the shapes.
04:46Obviously, you can't drive, right?
04:47No, I cannot.
04:48And this is the real reason why we're doing this.
04:51Blindness can take away parts of your life.
04:53And you know, I want to drive since I can't drive around just at home.
04:56Good luck.
04:57Well, we'll see you after the procedure.
04:59He mentioned multiple times he really wants to drive after this procedure fixes his eyesight.
05:03So I'll see you at the end of the video when we surprise him with a brand new Tesla.
05:06But first, let's see if Jeremiah's surgery was successful.
05:10Let's do this.
05:12How'd it go?
05:13Good.
05:14Yeah?
05:14Are you excited?
05:15Yeah.
05:25Take your time.
05:26No pressure.
05:28Everything looks so more clear.
05:30Yeah.
05:31To make this day even more special, since you're about to graduate high school and go
05:35to college, we wanted to give you $50,000 to put towards college.
05:42I didn't even think this was real.
05:45Like I'm waiting to wake up.
05:47Oh my God.
05:51Now let's check in and see how satchel surgery went.
05:57Now I don't even see any blur.
06:01It's kind of great.
06:10How are you feeling?
06:11How's life been now?
06:12It's been good, you know?
06:14I'll be like looking at the cars and I'm like, wow, I can see that car all the way over
06:17there.
06:18That's good if you're going to drive it.
06:19Yeah.
06:20I have a surprise for you.
06:22Do you mind putting on this blindfold?
06:23Hold on.
06:23Hold on.
06:24I know it's a little ironic that we just made the surgery.
06:27Satchel, take off your blindfold.
06:32What?
06:32This is your brand new Tesla.
06:37If Chris wrecks it, I'll buy another one.
06:41Literally, I cannot put into where it's hard for right now.
06:44Have you ever driven a car before?
06:45No.
06:46I love how we're letting a guy who couldn't see a couple of weeks ago drive us.
06:50Yeah.
06:51Wait, there's one cone you should hit.
06:53Don't hit the cone.
06:54So not only are we helping people here in America, but we're also going to other places
07:07around the world.
07:08Because unfortunately, nearly half the population with curable blindness doesn't have access to
07:13this surgery.
07:13So I wanted to provide this to as many people as possible.
07:24As a thank you, because you were just so gracious in this video, we want to make $100,000
07:41donation.
07:42It'll bring sight to thousands of people.
07:43Oh my God, you are so beautiful.
07:50Thank you, Mr. Beast.
