00:00Despite the Great Pyramids of Giza being one of the most studied archaeological sites in
00:07the world, they still remain quite a mystery to experts. Most notably, archaeologists could
00:12never seem to definitively explain how they were built, as the stone-building materials
00:16were sourced quite far away. However, experts have now used satellite radar imaging to uncover
00:21a secret buried for millennia. In addition to the Great Pyramids of Giza, there are a total
00:26of 31 pyramids built in what is now a completely inhospitable desert. However, experts now say
00:32that their satellite imaging has revealed there used to be an ancient branch of the Nile River
00:36that ran right along next to where all of them were built. This is what the 40-mile stretch of
00:40waterway likely looked like between 4,700 and 3,700 years ago when the pyramids were all built.
00:46And as you can see, it runs right next to all of these famed archaeological sites. This waterway
00:51would have been used to ferry the giant stone building blocks from their point of origin
00:55all the way to the pyramid construction sites. This is what experts have expected for a while,
00:59but we're never able to confirm. The stones used to build the pyramids were diverse in size.
01:04However, the largest weigh upwards of 10 tons.
