The Congress party has started distributing packets of sanitary pads to women in Bihar to promote menstrual hygiene awareness. However, the party's imitative became the target of a widespread fake news campaign. The packets of sanitary pads distributed by the Congress party had photos of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Yet, some X accounts escalated the controversy, claiming Rahul Gandhi's image was printed on the sanitary pads themselves. A video falsely depicting his photo printed directly on the sanitary pads quickly went viral. Subsequently, the Congress issued a clarification and said the viral video is fake. Debunking the fake news, Congress leader Alka Lamba made a video with the distributed sanitary pads and showed they do not have Rahul Gandhi's photo on them.
