00:00In today's episode, we'll be talking about the pear-shaped water bag from ringside.
00:14Hi, this is Pat Berry from Berry's Boxing and FitBuilders, the YouTube channel that helps
00:19build fit people. In today's episode, we're going to be showing you the versatility of this pear-
00:25shaped water bag that truly complements the usage of a heavy bag, but it eliminates any
00:32hand problems, and that's the biggest benefit I see from it. There's buoyancy when you hit it,
00:37so it actually feels more like you're hitting an impact on a human person, you know, instead of
00:46bunched up clothing and or foam, which when you need to use it, you need to use it. But now,
00:52with the possibility of using this water bag, you can hit it, even if you throw it from a bad angle,
00:57you're not going to hurt your hand. And this is something I've been looking for a long time, and
01:02when ringside put it together, I jumped on it. Okay, so here we are with Yolando, and he's going to be
01:08demonstrating using the oblong water heavy bag from ringside. And you'll see the benefits that we get
01:18from it. And number one, of course, is the safety. Yolando, just keep that jab working. Just throw
01:23that jab. We're starting off like a beginning fighter. You come into the gym, you go up there,
01:28you start hitting the bag, you're throwing that jab. You really don't want to strain your hand or bruise
01:33your knuckles and go home with an injury the first day. So rather than put the kids on the heavy bag,
01:38I put them on the water bag. It's an excellent, excellent device. I've really enjoyed receiving
01:45it from ringside and seeing the benefits that all our kids get from it. Now, don't get me wrong,
01:52it's not to be used just for the beginners. Like Yolando here, he's well advanced, and he should
01:58have been on the Olympic team this time. Okay, now he's going to be making a professional debut.
02:09And here he is working this bag, and it's giving him a lot of the punch, power behind this punch.
02:18Nice target, nice distance perception, feeling like your opponent. It's a nice little swing he's
02:25got from the chain. There you go. The harder Yolando hits it, you'll see the more movement he gets from it.
02:35And the neat thing is, I can stand right there and I can watch everything. I can see,
02:39make sure Yolando's keeping his elbows in, his hands up, his chin down. And I'm right part of the workout.
02:46Where the heavy bag, it seemed like once you're walking in a certain angle, you find yourself out of
02:50position. Now, don't get me wrong, we still use the heavy bag. To me, that's the number one,
02:55number one piece of equipment in the gym. But this is, to me, in addition to the heavy bag.
03:03Or, as I said earlier, if you've got a youngster that's coming into the game,
03:08why let him take a chance on hurting his hands on the heavy bag right in the beginning? You know,
03:13start him off, let him get the form and technique down on this water bag. It's a fine piece of equipment,
03:19and Yolando is demonstrating well with both hands. He can do short spurts of energy.
03:26Give him about a 10 second burst of energy, Yolando.
03:33There you go, body, head, there you go.
03:38Then you can walk around and work angles on the bag.
03:42Step around now, take up some different angles. There he goes,
03:46as he rolls underneath the bag. Very good. There you go. There you go. No need to be stationary.
03:54In fact, it's a waste of time if you're stationary. In boxing, you've got to move.
04:00You've got to stay on the balls of your feet. You've got to step around. Step out of the way of those punches.
04:05There you go. Position yourself. Nice. Let me see that one, two, one, two.
04:13So that was the usage on hitting the pear-shaped water heavy bag from ringside. And if you liked what
04:21you saw and saw what you liked, we'd like it if you would like, share, and subscribe.
04:26And remember, this is Pat Barry with Barry's Boxing, where we teach the science, not the violence. Until next time.
