00:06tried to pull off a truly moronic and stupid caper

00:08by putting his fake money on sale at cost online.

00:11In no time, he was in police custody care of a simple sting operation

00:15that Ryan Lesigas narrates in this report.

00:17This man was about to run but was immediately cornered by operatives

00:31of the PNP Anti-Cyber Crime Group or ACG in Las Piñas City.

00:34The man in the video and his companion were targets of a conducted entrapment operation

00:38against the suspects for selling counterfeit money.

00:47The group's modus operandi was to brazenly post on social media.

00:51The counterfeit 1,000 peso bill was being sold for 150 pesos each.

00:56According to PNP-ACG Acting Director, Police Brigadier General Bernard Yang,

00:59the suspects are former Pogo employees.

01:01The operation stemmed from a report by the Banco Central ng Pilipinas or BSP

01:06about the rampant sale of counterfeit money on social media.

01:09Because of this, the PNP-ACG immediately conducted cyber patrolling.

01:13During the entrapment operation itself,

01:14operatives seized over 100 pieces of counterfeit money.

01:18According to Yang, they are looking into a group

01:20to identify who the mastermind is behind the production of the fake money.
