00:00As Wimbledon continues ahead of the second and final week of the championships, the local
00:11constituency MP has demanded urgent action over travel chaos, which locally is said to have led
00:19to delays and overcrowding. Paul Coller said repeated issues on the district line had severely
00:27affected the journeys of residents, commuters and visitors warning attendees are now being
00:35caught up in cancellations and delays. Mr Coller said he had been told Wimbledon Station
00:43was very crowded on Tuesday and called on TfL to outline what extra support is in place
00:50to keep services running smoothly during the rest of the tournament.
00:57Green Group Save Wimbledon Park has also raised similar concerns, posting on X that streets
01:05are closed, bus routes diverted, parking a nightmare, tube travel ridiculous and traffic at Gridlock.
01:13The group, which opposes the All England Club's expansion plans onto nearby parkland, said the
01:22tournament's impact on the local area goes beyond the grounds themselves. On X, the group posted
01:30that they love the tennis, but in reference to those potential expansion plans, said there
01:36is a real cost to being taken over, even for just two weeks a year.
