00:36When people in America hear the term sex education,

00:40they tend to think about

00:42plumbing lessons, organ recitals.

00:46a pair of oviducts,

00:48and two uterine horns.

00:50Nobody ever mentioned what

00:52that was for or why

00:54besides my body was changing.

00:56To grow hair down there

00:58and to, you know,

01:00grow bodies like a woman,

01:02it was petrifying.

01:06I was given proper sex education

01:08for the times,

01:10to be the girl I was supposed to grow up to be.

01:12I was supposed to be split

01:14and repressed.

01:16attached with it

01:18that I didn't even want to learn about it

01:20because I was so embarrassed.

01:26in yours.

01:28Don't call it sex education

01:30because it doesn't reveal all the facts.

01:32More than we really learned anything about sex itself,

01:34we learned every single sexual disease.

01:36There's never been a federal program

01:37to teach comprehensive

01:38sexuality education,

01:39which deals with everything

01:40about our sexuality as a whole.

01:42Families and relationships

01:44and sexual orientation

01:46and gender identities.

01:48We teach kids driver ed

01:50partly because we know

01:51that teenagers want to drive,

01:52but also because we know

01:53that people will drive a car

01:54for the rest of their lives.

01:56That's not what we think about

01:58with sex education, apparently.

02:10that there should be more sex

02:12in schools.
