00:00Members voted or wish to change a vote.
00:17On this vote, the yeas are 218, the nays are 214.
00:35The motion is adopted.
00:48Still got a little more time.
00:53Donald Trump's deadline may be independent state.
00:57That ain't my deadline.
01:06You know why, Mr. Speaker?
01:09We don't work for Donald Trump.
01:11We work for the American people.
01:14That's why we're right here now on the floor of the House of Representatives, standing
01:19up for the American people.
01:24We work for everyday Americans, for hardworking American taxpayers, fighting hard to make
01:29sure that we can live in a country where every American can afford to live the good life.
01:39Press on for democracy.
01:40We're going to press on until victory is won.
01:46I yield back.
01:53Aki, aki, aki, aki, aki!
02:05Aki, aki, aki, aki, aki, aki, aki, aki, aki.
02:18It makes no difference whether our colleagues across the chamber speak for 25 minutes or
02:2225 hours.
02:24They can't change the truth.
02:26And today was about performance for some of them.
02:31But today for us is about results.
02:33It results that improve the lives of Americans, regardless of their race, religion, color,
02:39or creed.
02:39It does not matter.
02:44I tell you what, Ronald Reagan used to remind us you can always trust the American people,
02:53and we do trust the American people, and they can discern the difference.
02:57What they saw on display here today is that Democrats deliver performances and Republicans
03:03deliver results.
03:08Today, my friends, we are ready now.
03:17We are going to deliver what we were sent here to do, and every American will benefit from
03:22it.
03:23In 1793, just steps from where we stand today, President George Washington laid the first
03:28cornerstone of the United States Capitol.
03:31Over 50 years later, on July 4th again, members of this body gathered once again to lay a second
03:37cornerstone.
03:39Once more on July 4th, at the height of the Cold War, Congress laid a third cornerstone.
03:44And this week, with this vote today, on our nation's birthday being tomorrow, we lay a fourth.
03:52With this bill, we can vote as stewards of that great legacy that we have inherited in
03:56this extraordinary nation that we are blessed to live in.
04:00We can lay another sturdy foundation for the future of this country, a future where working
04:04Americans can feel relief.
04:06Where government can finally start living within its means again.
04:10And where the United States is safer, stronger, and more prosperous than ever before.
04:18That's right.
04:19Now, I'm going to say this as they mock America and mock everything and mock the bill.
04:28We'll see how the people feel about that.
04:35So, listen, seriously, as friends and colleagues, really, across the aisle, what we celebrate
04:41tomorrow is the nation's birthday.
04:42Let's put the politics aside for a minute, and let's reflect on our blessings.
04:45No kidding, really.
04:47Tomorrow is the 249th birthday of our nation, and that's right.

05:16USA!
05:17I mean this sincerely.
05:18I thank my colleagues for standing.
05:20We all should be united in that.
05:21We are.
05:22We are.
05:23We have squabbles.
05:24We have partisan debates and all of this, but at the end of the day, we're all Americans,
05:28man.
05:29And we got to believe that.
05:30We got to know it.
05:31We got to recognize that we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world.
05:35It's not even close.
05:40My friends and colleagues, we are so blessed.
05:47We should not take it for granted.
05:49We live in the most free, the most successful, the most powerful, the most benevolent nation
05:54that has ever been on the face of the earth.
05:57And there's a reason for that.
05:59The reason that we are the greatest nation is because we were built on the ultimate foundation.
06:04And the bold declaration that my friend Hakeem Jeffries articulated earlier.
06:09It's true.
06:10We unite under that.
06:11The bold declaration that we do hold these truths to be self-evident.
06:15What is a self-evident truth?
06:17It's something that's obvious.
06:18We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal.
06:21It does not say born equal.
06:23It says created equal.
06:25And that it is our creator.
06:27Yes.
06:28It is our creator that gives us our rights.
06:33See, the powerful thing about that is we're the first nation in the history of the world
06:37that acknowledged that our rights do not derive from government.
06:41They come from God himself.
06:56You see that, those words up there, that motto.
06:59It says, in God we trust, right above the speaker's rostrum.
07:02You know, a previous congress put that there in the early 60s in the height of the Cold War.
07:06There's a little visitor's guide that people get when you do tours late at night.
07:11You've probably seen your constituents and visitors and friends get the guide.
07:13If you turn, I think it's about to page 21.
07:15It explains why that's there.
07:17And it says, Congress voted to put that there as a rebuke to the Soviets' worldview at the
07:24height of the Cold War.
07:25Why?
07:26Because communism, socialism, find their root in Marxism.
07:31And Marxism begins with the belief that there is no God.
07:35It's wrong.
07:36And this Congress made us stand those many years ago and we should do it again.
07:40We're different.
07:41We're distinct.
07:42We're exceptional.
07:43Because we acknowledge that right there.
07:44Our motto.
07:45It doesn't say, in government we trust.
07:59It says, in God we trust.
08:02And we better remember that.
08:04He has blessed us with his grand experiment in self-governance now for almost two and a half centuries.
08:09And by God's grace, we are working hard and we are delivering on our promise to make America great again.
08:17This is without a doubt the most important vote of this Congress.
08:31And I think this may be the most important vote that any of us take in our entire lifetimes.
08:35And everybody better remember it however you vote today.
08:38My friends, the President of the United States is waiting with his pen.
08:43The American people are waiting for this relief.
08:46We've heard enough talk.
08:47It's time for action.
08:49Let's finish the job for him.
08:51Vote yes on the bill.
08:53With that, I yield back.
