Tourism taxes are part and parcel of holidays across the world. It brings extra cash into local economies and helps seasonal spots that lose out on tourism money through the winter. Wales will be implementing a tourism tax from next year, so we’re asking people in Cardiff if they’d avoid holidaying somewhere with a tourism tax.

00:00I know for us going abroad, I don't know. It is something you end up thinking about in the whole price.
00:08If it was somewhere classic like, say, Venice, you can understand why, because you need it.
00:14In West Wales, I think, to me, that would... I think it should just be somewhere that everybody could go.
00:20People can't really afford it at the moment. Times are hard.
00:24So nobody's got the money to actually pay more and more again.
00:28So if they're paying their fees, I think, if you make more charges, less people won't go because they can't afford it.
00:35Everyone's got to make their own bit of money, isn't it?
00:37So I think tourism being one of the main incomes from any country, I think up in the tax or chucking tax on it, they're going to get money in, isn't it?
00:46So they're going to do it either way. But, yeah, I don't think it's too bad. I can't imagine it being too pricey.
00:50I don't think a few extra pounds a night would really impact. Everyone's used to paying it abroad.
00:56So I don't see why people would have an issue with West Wales.
