00:00You all right, five?
00:02I'm Alison Hammond.
00:03You all right?
00:04I'm spending a weekend with some of the UK's biggest stars.
00:08Thanks.
00:09I'm on a mission to get all the gossip.
00:12Go and get a Brexit.
00:13Could you or much?
00:14You have got the waste carbon.
00:16I've started domestic.
00:17On your favourite celebrities.
00:19I've just got Alan Carr with me.
00:21Alan Carr? Unbelievable.
00:23There'd be no holding back.
00:26Was you quite an awkward kid?
00:28Yes, I don't think I was very comfortable in my own skin.
00:30As I get up close.
00:32I was living a life behind closed doors.
00:34That's completely different.
00:36And very personal.
00:38It was really hard.
00:42This is going to be very fun.
00:44Absolutely, Boise.
00:50If you put two and two together,
00:53you will see what our friendship is for.
00:58If you can work this equation then I guess I'll have to show you the door.
01:04Today is iconic.
01:06I'm going to spend a weekend with none other than Mal B from the Spice Girls.
01:14Mal B, the self-confessed gobby northerner.
01:17We are in control.
01:19Turned global superstar.
01:21Rose to fame with the Spice Girls.
01:23Conquered US TV.
01:25And earned an MBE for her charity work.
01:27Her rocky marriage to Stefan Balafonte ended in divorce amid abuse allegations.
01:33Which he denies, leaving her bankrupt.
01:36Now, back near Leeds, she's rebuilding her life, having found love with partner Rory.
01:42Hopefully, I'm going to disarm her today and I'll be able to break down some of those walls.
01:48But actually, I'm a little bit anxious.
01:50I have met Mal B before and all three occasions that I've met her, she is quite scary.
01:58Mal likes her privacy, but still she lives in the middle of nowhere.
02:02No one's going to find around here, aren't they?
02:08This is beautiful.
02:09Look at this.
02:10Oh, my God.
02:13Where am I?
02:17Mal!
02:19Mal!
02:26Oh, God.
02:27Up!
02:29Oh, God.
02:30Have you got any wet wipes?
02:34I can see her coming.
02:42Come on, babe.
02:44Hello.
02:45Oh, my God.
02:46How are you?
02:47How are you doing, darling?
02:49Oh, my gosh.
02:50Good to see you.
02:51How are you?
02:52You look amazing.
02:54Baze, this is a new look for you.
02:56I know, right up on the farm.
02:58Good job.
02:59Oh, thanks for inviting me.
03:00How are you doing?
03:01Look at the job.
03:02You look great.
03:03How cool is Mal B?
03:05What's her name?
03:06Cookie.
03:07Hey, Cookie.
03:08Let's take your little blankie.
03:10Here you go.
03:12I mean, you don't see that every day, do you?
03:15You actually don't.
03:18So, this is my daily get up.
03:21Yeah.
03:22I sort the chickens out because they come out in the morning and they potter around and feed the goats.
03:28Oh, my God, you've got goats and chickens.
03:30Yeah, and they're really lovely.
03:33This is amazing.
03:35When I moved in, we only had the Spice Girls Union Jacks sofa from Tor that I got given.
03:41What, you took it?
03:42Yeah, but luckily I did because that was the only sofa in the house.
03:45That's all you've got?
03:46But then, because I've been in here a few months now...
03:48Yeah, yeah.
03:49You've got some furniture.
03:50I've got a sofa, I've got a dining table so we can sit.
03:52Oh, wicked.
03:53It's a work in progress, this farm.
03:57What are you doing now?
03:58Wait, I'm going to give them some food.
04:00Well, do you want a glove on so you can feed them?
04:06No, they think that I've got the food.
04:08No, they're really tame because I've had them since babies.
04:12I'll be honest with you, I wasn't really expecting Mal's life to be this eventful.
04:16Out, out, out.
04:17She's feeding the goats, she's feeding the chickens, she's running around.
04:21Oh, God.
04:22I've got poo everywhere, all over my body.
04:25You should've just got some wellies.
04:27Like, there's a lot going on.
04:29What's this one?
04:30Who did you name her?
04:31This is Sharon.
04:32Because when I was growing up, if you saw somebody with Whitester letters,
04:35they were usually called a Sharon in Leeds.
04:37She's like, ow, stop it!
04:39Sharon.
04:40And they all have personalities and there's like a pecking order.
04:43Was it like that in the Spice Girls?
04:45Yeah.
04:46What was your pecking order?
04:47Well, mine was more about, we can do this.
04:51What was Geri?
04:54Oh, she was, she was really good, well she still is, good at like ideas.
04:58Baby.
04:59She's always like, who wants to eat?
05:01She's a feeder.
05:02Yeah.
05:03She's like a mummy.
05:04Yeah.
05:05Oh, she's all about, right, we've all got to be on time, looking like this.
05:08I'm not going to get my feet dirty, my hands dirty, but we're all paid.
05:12Right?
05:13And we're paid on time.
05:15I'm going to guess that Mal C was like, we need to do some exercise.
05:20Yeah.
05:21Yeah.
05:22In the gym at six.
05:23What the hell?
05:24One of those.
05:25And that's probably why it worked.
05:26Yeah.
05:27That's probably why you knew who you was and it just like, it fitted didn't it?
05:32Yeah.
05:33Well, I mean, we made it fit because when you find your, when you find your tribe of people,
05:38you all have the same understanding.
05:39Yeah.
05:40The same goals and, you know, the same wants and the same visions and, you know, drive and ambition.
05:46Yeah.
05:47It was weird how all your mates at school bonded to one of you.
05:51Oh, I hope so.
05:52So guess who I bonded to.
05:53Better be me.
05:54Yeah.
05:55I thought you were going to go, er, no, it's baby actually.
05:57I'll be like, all right, all right.
05:59Come and show me around, man.
06:01All right.
06:02Come on, let's go.
06:03I can't wait to have a mooch around inside Mal's house.
06:06And being a massive Spice Girls fan, there's only one place to start.
06:10I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really, really, really wanna zig-a-zig, ah.
06:14If you want my future.
06:16This is my little hallway.
06:19When I came back, I was working away and I came back and Rory had put all these awards off.
06:25Oh, my God.
06:26Look at everything.
06:27Look at this.
06:28This is incredible.
06:29It is crazy.
06:30You've kept everything.
06:31Unbelievable.
06:32I came to this.
06:33Did ya?
06:34Yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:35Spice World Tour.
06:36Yeah.
06:37It was amazing.
06:38What can you remember of that time when it just, like, blew up?
06:41The eye of the storm's quite calm.
06:43We were just going, can't actually believe this was number one in Japan.
06:46Oh, my God.
06:47But then, I think at some points you think, are we gonna get found out?
06:50It's just us five giddy kids.
06:52Found out in what sense?
06:53Because it was all about boy bands.
06:55It was all about being put together.
06:57Yeah.
06:58We were essentially put together, a few of us.
06:59But we were talented.
07:00But we created our own stuff.
07:01I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna really, really, really wanna take a day.
07:06If you wanna be my lover.
07:07We weren't following the usual imprint of what a band looked like.
07:11You know, we were doing it in our own way.
07:13It never ends.
07:14If you wanna be my lover.
07:16You can tell by the pictures what year it is, because I think we're all a bit stuck in the 90s.
07:21Yeah, you've got that one, you can see Jerry's not on that one.
07:24Did it upset you, then, that happened?
07:26Oh, I think we're all upset.
07:27She left out on my birthday.
07:29Did she?
07:30Jerry Halliwell, otherwise known as Ginger Spice, has announced she's left the Spice Girls,
07:35ending days of speculation about her future.
07:38But then, when you understand why, you know, she talks about really openly about the pressures
07:43and her eating and stuff like that, you just think, well, I don't blame you for just going
07:48and just escaping it.
07:49What's the situation with you all now?
07:50How do you all talk to each other and what's happened still?
07:52We do, but sometimes I get kicked out of the group or sometimes I just don't respond.
07:56Because I always say the wrong thing.
07:58You get kicked out of the group?
07:59Yeah, because then one of the girls would go, oh, you've said it again,
08:02we're going back until I went, we are.
08:04And then they all go, stop saying that.
08:06And I go, but if I say it, because I believe it, it's going to happen.
08:10Is it going to happen now?
08:11Happened in 2019.
08:12Exactly.
08:13I would love it.
08:14And I think it's just a case of everyone else wrapping their head around it.
08:17But what is the relationship that you and Jerry call now?
08:20Me and Jerry used to butt heads a lot.
08:22Yeah.
08:23You know, but five girls together.
08:24But not now.
08:25We don't talk anymore.
08:26Well, no, we just don't talk.
08:27You know, if you have a sister, get on one minute, it might not be the next.
08:30I feel like you were, like, the driving force to keeping everything together,
08:35to moving things along.
08:37I feel like you're the driving force with regards to reunions.
08:39Because I just get really excited.
08:40I just want to get up there and just do it.
08:42You want to do the shoulders?
08:43Yeah.
08:44Yeah, see?
08:45I see, I didn't even realise I do that.
08:47But that's my go-to move.
08:49You did better than I do.
08:50See?
08:51I know, what are you doing?
08:52I'm obsessed.
08:53See?
08:54Dang!
08:55You have to teach me my moves.
08:57See, it's good being in your own world, isn't it?
09:01I'm good at all.
09:02I'm literally love it.
09:03You're really bloody good.
09:04Personified.
09:05I love it.
09:06Say, we'll be there.
09:07Oh, say, we'll be there.
09:08I want to see.
09:09I'll be your audience.
09:10I want you singing with me.
09:11If you put two and two together, you will see what our friendship is for.
09:16Oh.
09:17It's the best day of my life.
09:32I'm not actually joking.
09:34I mean, she might not be talking to Geri, but I'm ready to fill in.
09:37Don't let me out!
09:39To really get to know Mal better, I've invited the one person that knows her best.
09:48Her mom, Andrea, to get all the goss.
09:51I actually really like you, Alison.
09:53I do actually watch her on TV.
09:55The only reason why she's agreed to come to my front room is because of you, not me.
10:00Aw, look how your mom loves me.
10:02You've got to tell me what she was like as a child.
10:05Aw, well, actually she was quite good when she was little.
10:08But then high school, it was a nightmare.
10:10And it were a performing arts school.
10:12So I said to the teacher, when the homework weren't in on time, I said,
10:16drop her from the show that you're putting on.
10:19Drop her from that. Did you?
10:20Because you would be doing her a favour.
10:22Drop her?
10:23I wanted the homework in.
10:24So, my mom is very much a northern woman.
10:29What you see is what you get.
10:30It's brutal sometimes.
10:31But at least you always know you're going to get the truth.
10:33See how nice that still sounded.
10:36I'm not mean, I'm just saying it for you.
10:39OK, you've got to tell me, what do you love about Mal?
10:41You're not allowed to talk, let her speak.
10:44Well, you're strong.
10:45You're stronger, a lot stronger than you think.
10:48To get through what you've got through.
10:50When you look back, do you think we needed that homework in now
10:54you see your daughter so successful?
10:57No.
10:58No, I...
11:00No, not really.
11:02Because...
11:03Because you were never, it were a nightmare.
11:06Thanks.
11:07But for Mal and her mom, there were bigger tests to overcome.
11:11In 2017, Mal's divorce from Stefan Belafonte made headlines
11:16with allegations of physical, emotional and financial abuse.
11:20With nowhere else to go, she returned home to live with her mum,
11:24who she'd also lost contact with during that time.
11:27I want to know how this whole mess has affected their relationship.
11:31There was a time where, for eight years, you didn't have no disagreements.
11:35We didn't even have...
11:36Yeah.
11:37You didn't even speak to each other.
11:38Yeah.
11:39Well, horrible, them years.
11:41Take me back to, like, when it first started and you noticed,
11:44oh, I'm not hearing from Mal.
11:46Oh, I didn't, cos I used to call my mum every single day.
11:49Did you?
11:50Without fail.
11:51And then what, one day you just said...
11:52Just, it kind of got less and less, it'd be every other day,
11:55or every three days, the abuse started to take over
11:58more and more and more and more and more control.
12:01And then I got a call, erm, from Stefan to say...
12:05I'm barely hearing his name.
12:07..you, erm, you won't be seeing your daughter or your grandchild again.
12:10And then that was it.
12:12There were no more phone calls, no more...
12:15There were nothing, it just...the phone were dead.
12:18Oh, didn't answer it, because he had my phone.
12:21All these things, I realised when I got back,
12:24and me and my mum had a long talk,
12:27it was like, God, that was going on with you,
12:29I just thought you didn't want to talk to me.
12:31Horrible. And then you were being told
12:32that your mum doesn't want to speak to you.
12:34You were being told that Mal doesn't want to speak to you.
12:36Horrible. Yeah.
12:37It's like you were a prisoner. Yeah.
12:39And then by the time my dad was on his deathbed,
12:42and I flew over, escaped him,
12:45you know, I hadn't seen my mum in years,
12:47or my sister, or anyone. Yeah.
12:50So what was that reunion like when you saw each other?
12:53Oh, I was so nervous.
12:55I took all the blame myself, and all the guilt.
12:58When Melanie arrived, I could only describe,
13:01she were like a broken doll.
13:03That's how I saw her.
13:04Even when you were divorced,
13:06I had this awful feeling every time I were leaving,
13:10is I might not be seeing you again.
13:12And then I think my house were the best place for her to be.
13:16Yeah.
13:17I think that saved you.
13:19It did.
13:20Got no money, nowhere to live.
13:21I thought I had everything stashed away properly.
13:25You know, and I'm like, in my 40s, going,
13:27Mum, can I come and stay with you till I get on my feet?
13:30And you were in a really bad place.
13:32Also, Melanie had been, had it drilled into her,
13:35you can't trust your mum, you can't trust your mum.
13:37Oh, yeah. And you can't trust yourself, too.
13:39You have to gain that back.
13:42So that realisation and having to admit that to yourself,
13:45admit what you've gone through, then admit it to your mum,
13:47it's horrible.
13:48Why?
13:49Cos I was embarrassed.
13:50So you were covering?
13:51I'm full of guilt and shame.
13:52Yeah.
13:53You know, I'm girl power, I'm scary spice,
13:55and I was living a life behind closed doors
13:58that was completely different.
14:00They abused the person that they're in a relationship with
14:02and then it affects everyone.
14:04You damage the...
14:05It's horrible.
14:06..full family.
14:07Yeah.
14:08Do you think your relationship has healed, then?
14:12Would you say it's healed?
14:13I think it's definitely healing.
14:15I think it's gone a long way.
14:17More and more and more and more.
14:19It was tough to listen to, actually,
14:21the fact that any sort of abuse
14:23doesn't just affect the victims that are being abused,
14:27it affects everyone.
14:29I think there's still a lot of healing to be had there,
14:32without a doubt.
14:34But now...
14:36Look at us.
14:37Yeah.
14:38In a leopard print room that you don't like.
14:41Yeah.
14:42Just look over the house.
14:46Which...
14:47Do you like leopard print?
14:48Well, I like it.
14:49It's all right.
14:51Well, you know, because you're having a problem
14:53with the fact that I want to do this room leopard print.
14:56She went, oh, no.
14:57Too much.
14:58Yeah, it's a bit tacky because it's a smaller room
15:00and it's a farmhouse.
15:02Well, it's not leopard print, yeah.
15:03It will be.
15:04Have we got to do this?
15:05Because that's what we're going to do.
15:06Yeah.
15:07Despite Andrea's reluctance,
15:09Mal's got her own way
15:10and persuaded her to help spice up her living room.
15:13Because whatever Scary Spice wants...
15:15That's the leopard print I'm having.
15:17You're not taking it down.
15:18It's not your house.
15:19Green.
15:20No, but the whole room...
15:21Scary Spice gets...
15:22You're not having it on a feature wall.
15:24No.
15:25That's what I've decided
15:26and it's my living room, not yours.
15:28Oh, God.
15:29Look at your disgusted face.
15:31You're like that.
15:32No, we're just thinking...
15:33But I didn't ask you if you'd like it or not.
15:35Is there anything I can do, guys?
15:37Yeah.
15:38Back me up with the leopard print vibe.
15:40Babes, it's got to be leopard print.
15:41At the end of the day, it's Mal B.
15:43I loved watching Mal and her mum
15:46because they're literally like two peas in a pod.
15:48Do you know what I mean?
15:49They are exactly the same.
15:50I think this is quite hilarious, Mother.
15:52Neither one is backing down.
15:53Why don't we do it on the main wall, the feature wall?
15:56Oh, my God.
15:57Oh, my God.
15:58Yeah.
15:59Just to see.
16:00It's proper kicking off between them two.
16:03I mean, I was just there trying to calm and keep the peace.
16:05Do you know what I mean?
16:06I've never done this before.
16:07What do we need to do?
16:08She'll tell you what to do and tell you if you're doing it wrong.
16:10Can you not do it?
16:11You might end up cutting it short.
16:13That's what I'm saying.
16:14No, Faith.
16:15I'm not going to do it like that.
16:16I'm going to do it my way.
16:17I mean, she was literally splashing that paste
16:20like you've never splashed before.
16:22Yeah.
16:23What the hell's that?
16:25Is that Lenny Gravitz?
16:26Oh, did you just smash that?
16:28Oh, I'm so sorry I dropped him.
16:30Oh, I love it.
16:31I've got the only brush.
16:33No, there's another one.
16:34Another reason that I've hid it.
16:36I did see Scary Spice revealed.
16:40That's right.
16:41I do know a decorator we could call and get in.
16:43No, I like doing it.
16:44Oh, I do.
16:45Because then it has memories.
16:46Yeah, that's true.
16:47What lovely memories these are.
16:49Yeah, they are.
16:53They're beautiful.
16:54I'll never forget.
16:56Don't cut it short.
16:57Too late, guys.
16:58I'm going to do a guesstimate.
17:00But who knew that I was like Linda Barker?
17:02Why?
17:03Hold me, hold me.
17:04How good was I at wallpapery?
17:07Give me the brush, give me the brush.
17:09You see, we're as good as that programme that does the decorating.
17:12Who knew leopard print could cause such drama?
17:15After all that, I need a chill and Mel's got just the place.
17:19So this is your meditation room.
17:22This is beautiful.
17:23Well, nobody's allowed in this room.
17:24No one?
17:25No.
17:26He's sitting here and he's like some sage.
17:28That's my dad's shirt that he dyed in.
17:31So I sit there and talk to him.
17:33Do you just sit on it and meditate?
17:35You just sit and you just breathe and you just close your eyes
17:38and you just count and just clear your brain.
17:42Can we do some meditating?
17:45Just lie there like that.
17:48And if you just concentrate on your breath and count.
17:50You know, remember when your mum and dad used to say,
17:52well, if you can't sleep, count cheap?
17:54Mm-hm.
17:55Well, it's like counting cheap.
17:56You're just counting.
17:57Mm-hm.
17:58And you just do that for as long as you want to.
18:00I was really trying to get into the meditation.
18:03But she didn't stop talking.
18:05Like, she just went on.
18:06But I don't think there's anything wrong with falling asleep.
18:08And on.
18:09As long as you're just still.
18:10And on.
18:11The most important thing when you meditate
18:13is to be completely 100% still.
18:16I was basically telling her to shut up
18:18because I was saying to her...
18:19Mm-hm.
18:20The only thing that should be moving is your tummy.
18:22Mm-hm. Mm-hm.
18:24But she wasn't, like, getting it and she just kept talking.
18:26And then, don't know if you feel it,
18:28but then you feel your body tingling a bit.
18:30When it comes to meditation, having Mal B there,
18:33it's a definite no-no.
18:41Where am I sleeping tonight? Just out of interest.
18:43You'll like this, actually.
18:44The spare room is actually a leopard queen.
18:45Really?
18:46It is.
18:47As our first day together draws to a close...
18:49Oh, really?
18:51I'm keen to find out what the future has in store
18:53for Scary Spice.
18:55So, what do you reckon the plan is now for your life?
18:58Where do you want to go?
18:59Be here in the forest.
19:00This is your life now?
19:01Yeah, I mean, I go to work.
19:05Yeah.
19:06Hopefully the girls will be doing something soon.
19:08Yeah.
19:09In the meantime,
19:10doing all my stuff for domestic violence.
19:13And hanging out with my animals.
19:15You're happy, though?
19:16Yeah.
19:17I'm happy with myself, too.
19:19Aww.
19:20And I'm happy with, you know,
19:22what I'm doing and who I'm in love with.
19:24I've always nurtured all the things back in me.
19:28I feel safe.
19:30That's all you want in life, innit?
19:31Yeah.
19:32This is mental.
19:33Do you ever, like, build a tent and, like, stay in here?
19:36No.
19:37I go wandering in the forest,
19:38and I walk on down,
19:39and you see some deers and stuff,
19:40and you hear the cows from next door.
19:42Then I hear a shower and go in...
19:43She actually says Mel, you know, now.
19:45What, your goat?
19:47When I call her, she goes,
19:49Mel!
19:50Are you actually joking?
19:51I'm not joking!
19:53She's losing it in the forest!
19:55Don't tell anyone!
19:57You're here forever now, Alison!
19:59You're mine!
20:00I feel like today I've really got under the skin of Scary Spice,
20:07who isn't actually that scary.
20:09She's a very lovely lady.
20:12She's actually a lot softer than I thought she was going to be.
20:15Sharon!
20:20Mel!
20:21When I look at her, I just see a survivor,
20:24and I think she's absolutely incredible.
20:32The next morning, we're on our way to Blackpool,
20:35where Mel went to find fame and fortune as a 15-year-old dancer.
20:40So this is your neck of the woods, then?
20:43Dumping ground, completely.
20:45So this is where you used to work?
20:47Yeah, the horseshoe van should be here on the corner somewhere.
20:50Did you love it?
20:51Sometimes yeah, sometimes no,
20:53because the dance world can be quite tough.
20:55Each week, as a dancer, you'd get weighed,
20:59so if you went over or under,
21:01you'd get your wages docked a little bit.
21:03I don't believe you.
21:04This is talking like 35 years ago.
21:06Are you serious?
21:07Because the costumes were made for your body.
21:10And they'd weigh you, they'd put you on the scalp every week.
21:12Once a week, yeah.
21:13As long as you get me, mate.
21:15Well, you just have to make sure when you get measured for your outfit,
21:17you're at the weight that you want to be at.
21:19Yeah.
21:20Push your stomach out a bit.
21:22Exactly.
21:23And then my place at our digs was down here.
21:26Really?
21:27It was on that street, because I used to walk from work.
21:30We could walk from here, didn't there?
21:32We could drive there.
21:33Let's drive there.
21:34And hopefully I'll know where it is.
21:37At the round door.
21:39I bet the doors have changed by now.
21:41They look nice, don't they?
21:43Well, they did when I lived in it.
21:45It looked decrepit when I was living there.
21:46Really?
21:47Yeah.
21:48So it's changed a bit.
21:49It's a bedsit.
21:50Mine was, like, at the top, like that.
21:51I only had a little tiny window.
21:52Do you reckon that's it?
21:53Come on, let's have a look.
21:54That looks like somebody's house now.
21:58Is this it?
21:59I think it is.
22:00This looks like somebody's house, though.
22:02You're going to think that was trying to rob the house.
22:09You're in your dressing gown.
22:10But it's leopard print, so it's fine.
22:12It was so weird.
22:13Literally knocking on random people's doors.
22:15You do it with me.
22:16She liked you.
22:17She couldn't actually remember exactly where she lived.
22:21Did you used to rent this out?
22:23No, and we've only had it eight years.
22:25Right, so was it a bedsit before?
22:27Yes.
22:28Yeah, it was.
22:29So she used to live on the top floor.
22:31Is there any way she can have a look at their room again?
22:33You don't mind?
22:34The top, top floor.
22:35Top floor, yeah.
22:36Oh, thanks, though.
22:37Come on, bud.
22:38Do you remember these stairs, then?
22:39She's upgraded.
22:40Yeah, these are the stairs, because they were quite steep.
22:42And then my room was back here.
22:45Yes, swear to God.
22:49Are you actually joking?
22:50No, I'm not.
22:51I'm actually not joking.
22:53I'm not joking.
22:54This was your room?
22:55It was the layout of where I stayed.
22:57This was a bedroom, and then this is the front room.
23:00Oh, my God, it's lovely.
23:01It was literally one room with a little kitchen.
23:05I had a torso because then I set the fire alarm off.
23:08It's mad to see, like, where she's coming from, that tiny little room, and where she is now.
23:13It's so lovely to see.
23:14And where was your bed?
23:15Well, right there.
23:17She was absolutely buzzing.
23:19She completely changed when she saw where she lived.
23:22How mad is that?
23:23That's weird, Alison.
23:2435 years on, and it's exactly the same.
23:27Aw.
23:29Memories, man. Memories.
23:31Damn.
23:32No.
23:33Aw.
23:34I love coming back and reminiscing about things like this.
23:37I think it's lovely.
23:38It's just fabulous.
23:39Look how far you've come.
23:40It's a weird feeling, isn't it?
23:41Yeah.
23:43Look how far you've come, bab.
23:45Oh, oh.
23:46Bring me a higher love.
23:50Bring me a higher love.
23:52Next, we're heading further down memory lane to the bar where Mal literally high kicked her
23:57way onto the stage.
23:59Oh, the door's open.
24:00Shall we go in?
24:01Oh, it looks really posh now.
24:03They've done it right up.
24:04Oh, this is nice.
24:05Is this it?
24:06Yeah.
24:07Oh, my God, it's still the same.
24:10You should be standing dancing here, and then people would be like...
24:14Oh, this is gorgeous.
24:16They'd be eating the fish and chips just watching you on stage.
24:19Oh, my God.
24:20Really intimate, isn't it?
24:21I'd be up on here with the dancers.
24:24Welcome to the Horseshoe bar.
24:27Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
24:30And my dad would be good.
24:31My dad would be looking at me horrified with what I was wearing.
24:34I was so proud of myself.
24:36Seeing Mal back in her environment where it all started, she was transformed back to a time
24:44where she had no problems in her life.
24:46She was carefree.
24:47It was just really lovely to watch.
24:50Oh, my God.
24:51So literally, what was you wearing?
24:52Can I have another pint, love?
24:53She was thinking, well, you're not looking at my dancing.
24:57Yeah?
24:58So, what, are you wearing, like, a bikini sort of thing?
25:01Well, like, fishnets with all glitter.
25:03They'd have feathers attached to your costume, feather head.
25:06And you were literally 15 years old.
25:08Yeah.
25:09I like it.
25:10I remember it to be bigger.
25:12I thought I'd made it.
25:13But you had?
25:14Yeah.
25:15Because this was just your training ground for what you was about to do.
25:18And it was hardcore.
25:19There was no messing about it.
25:20You couldn't get any steps wrong.
25:21How do you feel when you're on stage?
25:24Like, electric.
25:25It's like, this is what I'm meant to do.
25:27And I'm here, and I'm actually doing it!
25:30Come on, let's go.
25:31Well, it's nice.
25:32Show me some of the moves.
25:33I've just been up.
25:34No.
25:35You never showed me.
25:36Come on.
25:37And we have Alison Hammond!
25:41Hi there.
25:42Hi there.
25:43Let me introduce you to the main act of the night.
25:45The one.
25:46The only.
25:47It's Mel B!
25:50She's late.
25:51I don't know why she is.
25:52I'm ready for the dance vibes.
25:54I did it.
25:55I'm ready.
25:56I did it.
25:57Don't leave me hanging.
25:58So what do I have to do?
26:05Tell me.
26:06Tell me.
26:07Five.
26:08Six.
26:09Seven.
26:10And you'll kick a chip off the stage.
26:12Not to knock his drink over.
26:14Go across.
26:15You've got feathers, remember?
26:16I love it.
26:17She didn't want to do it.
26:18I made her.
26:19I put her in a situation.
26:20I know she's a team player.
26:21She did it.
26:22I don't know.
26:23Maybe you'll just end with the feathers.
26:25You're shaking your feathers.
26:26Ta-da!
26:27Sorry.
26:28It's quite hard, isn't it?
26:29Exactly.
26:30I can't get up.
26:31Can you help me back?
26:32You wanted to do it.
26:33I think with Mel, it really isn't about the money or anything like that.
26:36It's about needing to perform.
26:38I don't know.
26:39I don't know.
26:40I don't know.
26:41I don't know.
26:42I don't know.
26:43I don't know.
26:44It's about needing to perform.
26:46No, you're not allowed to do that.
26:48Needing that buzz.
26:49We're just the dancers.
26:51I think she's going to be trying to encourage the team back on stage soon.
26:56I think there's going to be a reunion.
26:58Oh, I love this picture.
27:00I've loved hanging out with Mel.
27:02We look like sisters, don't we?
27:04But I want to see if I can turn Scary Spice into Scared Spice.
27:08Have you ever been on that roller coaster?
27:10If you're going to do it, then I have to do it.
27:12I'm doing it.
27:13It's Mel B.
27:14Roller coaster.
27:15Blackpool.
27:16Let's go.
27:17The big one in Blackpool is one of the tallest and steepest roller coasters in the world.
27:21Bring it on.
27:23Yeah!
27:29Are you all really excited about it?
27:31I'm not.
27:32Are you not?
27:33No, I just got to go with it.
27:35No!
27:36No!
27:37It's 203!
27:38It's 203, Mel!
27:39Look at you, Mel!
27:40Look at you, Mel!
27:41Look at you!
27:42Hello!
27:43Hello!
27:44Hello!
27:45Hello!
27:46That was eventful, wasn't it?
28:02A weekend with Mel B.
28:06What can I say?
28:09She's had the most glittery life.
28:13You name it, she has done it.
28:16Let's be honest, she's a global icon.
28:19Is she scary?
28:21Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
28:24Aww.
28:26She's someone you cannot pin down, you can't contain Mel B.
28:30She's like a little butterfly who needs to fly in her own way.
28:35You'll never, ever meet a Mel B again.
28:41Thank God.
28:46I don't want to run, I don't belong to anyone.
28:49Oh, no.
28:50I don't need to be loved by you.
28:53Yeah.
28:54You know it's true.
29:03You know it's true.
29:05You know it's true.
29:07I know it's true.
29:13I know it's true.
29:15You know it's true.
29:16You know it's true.
29:17I not want to put it bad.
29:18I don't want to have a scary woman.
29:20We love you.
29:22We love you.
29:23You know it's true.
29:25So I see you again, and all of you know it's true.
29:28You know.
29:28Thanks, had it a laugh.
