00:00Governor, I'd like to ask a question about what's going on in Washington today.
00:03Right now we're waiting to see if House Republicans have enough votes to pass Trump's budget bill.
00:08We saw some California Republicans sign a letter saying that they didn't want to see more cuts to Medicaid,
00:12and yet we don't know if they're going to vote for this or not.
00:15Well, they did the first round.
00:16What's your message to somebody like Congressman Valadao or Congresswoman Kim
00:19about whether they should vote for this bill and what it means to their constituents in California?
00:24Well, if he votes for the bill, he should be voted out next year, period, full stop.
00:2962 to 64 percent of all of the residents in his district are on Medi-Cal, 60 plus percent.
00:37It's the ultimate betrayal.
00:39His president, that he enthusiastically endorsed and supported, said there'd be no cuts to Medicaid.
00:45He lied, and this congressman should be held to account if he turns his back and betrays his constituency.
00:54His hospitals are at risk.
00:57The Jason County Hospital is at risk.
01:00Hospitals will go out of business.
01:02Access to care will be denied.
01:05Hundreds of thousands of Californians will lose access to food stamps.
01:09Student loans will increase.
01:12I mean, this is one of the most calamitous and devastating bills of our lifetime.
01:16It's certainly the most destructive health care bill in the history of this country.
01:21Upwards of 17 million people can lose health care.
01:24We did a very sober and conservative analysis in California.
01:28Four million people are subject to lose their health care in California.
01:32Two million of you, many of you watching, many of you listening, two million of you will see premium increases on your existing health care.
01:42You're going to see cuts across the spectrum, and you've saddled our kids and grandkids with unprecedented debt, anywhere from $3.3 trillion to $3.9 trillion on the basis of new numbers that are just coming back.
01:56This is a generational theft to pay for tax cuts that billionaires and corporations, in many cases, aren't even asking for.
02:04It's vanity, and it's devastating to the economies and to the people of this country, not just the state of California, and not just to those representatives that you just highlighted.
02:15You had a similar message when we talked about this on Friday about Valadeo, and then soon after you spoke, he put out a statement saying he was going to vote against it.
02:23But this morning he was seen at the White House.
02:25Yeah, come on.
02:26What do you make of that?
02:27I have no faith in that.
02:28But as I said, he might as well resign early, and I can call a special election if he supports it, sincerely.
02:38I mean, on what basis do you have of trust in your own district if you would betray your own constituency to such extraordinary, extraordinary degree?
02:49I mean, it's one of the poorest districts in the country.
02:52It's going to be devastated, has been devastated, by the impacts of climate change and droughts, floods, fires, the impacts to the agricultural community that he's participated in with these raids and these assaults on our diverse communities.
03:07He should resign if he supports it, period, full stop.
03:10Governor, can we talk about more pressures that be...
