00:00A household from Raynum recently had their beloved pet escape and climb up a tree.
00:05But it wasn't a cat, or their dog Poppy.
00:08It was, in fact, a blue iguana.
00:15Just over three years ago, I was at my brother's yard, and a friend of his came in with a bearded
00:21dragon in a van and said, I've just rescued this, but the guy's got a large snake and
00:27a lizard that he's got to read at home, thought it was a chameleon, looked up chameleon, and
00:34thought, that's fine, that's not going to grow very big, and then realised it was a blue iguana
00:40which can grow up to about six foot long.
00:42Well, I'm joined here now by Blue herself, who's taking a very long rest after her ventures,
00:47which ended at about seven o'clock this morning when she was rescued from the tree.
00:51Yeah, so I've only been up in this oak tree for half an hour so far, but the iguana has
00:58been found.
00:59The only problem is, I don't know if you can see him, there he is, right out on the extremities
01:07there.
01:08Sunday I rang Reptile Rescue in Tunbridge, and Chris said I might know a man that can help,
01:16he's a tree climber, rang Danny, he said I can't come out this evening but I'll be with
01:21you seven o'clock in the morning, and he was here at seven o'clock this morning, amazing,
01:26and he had a dam within 40 minutes.
01:30Dean also said that he received a lot of support on Facebook in the Raynham community group,
01:34with many pitching in offers of their equipment to help save Blue.
01:38Just the help and the comments have been amazing, we've had the fire brigade come and try to rescue
01:44her last night, we've had people volunteering, we've had people with a drone, with thermal
01:51imaging to try and pick her out yesterday, they take a lot of patience, a lot of patience
01:57to get them to get used to you, you've just got to spend time with them, lots and lots of
02:02time with patience, and when you feel they're ready they'll come to you, I'll say now she'll
02:08come out and watch them tell you she'll climb up, literally will sit on the end of my knees,
02:13and then clear off again, and she goes upstairs.
02:16Can I ask how you felt being reunited with Blue this morning?
02:20I can't explain it.
02:23Brilliant.
02:24Yeah.
02:25Amazing.
02:26Well, with Blue safe and sound in her cage, Dean and his family can rest easy knowing the
02:34mischievous reptile is staying put.
