00:00and the landscape. We've gone on to work with some of the students after this project and some of
00:05their work have found places at the Hanapath and Gotcha Gardens, Motts Gallery and Windcast.
00:10There's some brilliant stuff here. So it's been a total pleasure to work with the RSPB who are
00:14always fantastic. Thank you Mark and the rest of your team. And now the final speech is from our
00:19Mayor George-Marie-Pierre.
00:22Hello, thank you.
00:24Mark, Ali, Goh, thanks ever so much. What a great collaboration.
00:31Mark, the nature, all out here on the country side on this beautiful evening.
00:37Nobody else couldn't worry we'd like to be. Are we all ready for a nice long walk?
00:42It was hilly on the way off, I was a bit like...
00:47Alright, so I've got some formalities to do.
00:49So, Heathwender Artworks is an annual art trail on RSPB Barn and Heath.
00:56It's such a successful project that it addresses the aims of all three partners.
01:04Here we go. Serial Arts, the University of Creative Arts and the RSPB.
01:09It succeeds in delivering outdoor, accessible, contemporary art and supporting students'
01:16artistic and career development, and building and interacting with new audiences.
01:22That's the first time I've been here.
01:24So, Barn and Heath is part of the Surrey Hills National Landscape.
01:30And we're all lucky to know.
01:33The Surrey Hills stretches across the breadth of the whole county.
01:37And he's home to a host of rare and curious species, nationally significant habitats,
01:44expansive views, as you can see here, and important heritage.
01:51This is a chance for emerging artists, and I've met a couple this evening.
01:55And my good friend, Sally, who I wasn't expecting to be here this evening.
02:02And she's a good friend. I've known her for a long, long time, Sally.
02:05And actually, we won't see it tonight. We'll definitely come and see it another time.
02:09Okay, so this is a chance for emerging artists to embed themselves in this landscape
02:14history, and respond to its geology, history, or ecology in new and vibrant ways.
02:21It also provides visitors, like us, to experience the heath in a new way,
02:27and learn from these innovative artworks.
02:31So, we're pleased to say that this art trail is free.
02:35What about that, eh?
02:37It's free, thanks, this is free.
02:39And it's available, as Mark said, to visit throughout the whole of the summer,
02:43right up to the end of Farnham's Craft Month in October.
02:47So, anyway, with that firm will do, I am formally and delighted to announce that the
02:52Heathland Artworks 2025 is now open to the public.
