The new mayor of Farnham turned shoe salesman at the weekend – but it was all for a good cause.
Cllr George Murray, who took on the mayor’s chains in May, held a charity shoe sale outside Colours Shoes & Co in Lion and Lamb Yard.
Derrick Small, the owner of the shoe shop as well as Colours Ltd in the same shopping precinct, had very kindly donated his spare stock of shoes to Cllr Murray’s chosen charity – the Hale Community & Youth Centre.
Each pair of shoes was sold for £10, with all proceeds going to the youth centre.
The sale proved a huge hit, with crowds perusing the stock to get their hands on some high-quality footwear at a bargain price.
