A married couple, allegedly leaders of Sarawak's biggest drug syndicate, were charged with methamphetamine trafficking on Wednesday (July 2).

Tie Teck Hock, 53, faces two charges under the Dangerous Drugs Act.

He's accused of trafficking 1,030.80g of methamphetamine on Jalan Pedada on June 12, and jointly with his wife Lee Chee Fei, 44, trafficking 6,055.9g of the drug from a house storeroom in Lorong Permai Jaya the same night.

Both offences carry penalties under Section 39B of the Act.

00:54Sergeant Oon Kork-Churn ordered both accused to be remanded in Cebu Prison, as the offences
01:00under Section 39B are non-bailable offences.
01:05He also fixed August 22 for mention and ordered that both accused, who have health conditions,
01:12be given adequate medication during their detention.
01:15The couple was arrested in a series of raids carried out by the Cebu District Narcotics
01:21Crime Investigation Division on June 12 and 13.
01:25It was reported that the drugs and assets seized from them, totalling 8.5 million ringgit, made
01:31up the biggest narcotic-related seizure in the state's history.
