00:00Professionals, I expect you to conduct yourself as such. Touch your gloves, good luck.
00:10Eddie Hernandez Sr., the third man in the ring. We'll have Jerry Cantu, Pam Hayashida, and Fernando Villarreal are judges for this one scheduled for eight rounds.
00:20And you're right, Jordan Panthen, that it is the first eight-rounder for Alexander Goetsch.
00:25Nonito Donair, when you're moving up in the ranks in your career, what's the difference between six to eight?
00:29I know it's just two rounds, but what's the mentality?
00:32Well, it's not so much as the difference of the rounds. It's more of the opponents.
00:38The opponents that you're fighting, it's no joke. He just tripped on himself.
00:44And that's the difference when it comes down to just the eight rounds. It's just the level of opposition.
00:49You know, we know that Gage, with Reynoso, they're going to impose on a lot of the power.
00:59Ali Kat coming off a unanimous decision, six-round victory. We've got 60-52.
01:04That was in January of the season here in Southern California.
01:09You can see the difference between these guys.
01:11But like you said, Jordan, you know, Avina is with these guys from Gallegos, guys.
01:19They're incredible fighters.
01:21Yeah, they're tough fighters.
01:23A lot of resemblance to the Mexican style over a Las Vegas fight club with Jason Gallegos.
01:28Pressure fighter.
01:31Alexander Goetsch, too. 7-0-5 knockouts.
01:33Last two fights were the decision.
01:35So I know about him, but I'm pretty sure he wants to get back in the KO column.
01:38So I'm liking the jab, using his speed as his friend.
01:43I'm looking for Vincent to come forward with a high guard and make it a little more nitty-gritty.
01:47Yeah, you'll see Gage with that represent logo on the back of his trunks.
01:52You know, the Nate Diaz crew out there in Stockton, but that's where Avina has roots in Stockton.
01:56Avina coming off a loss where he went to Puerto Rico and got the decision loss to Elijah Juana Costa,
02:03a Puerto Rican fighter, prospect coming out of there.
02:06So it's a good matchup here.
02:07The difference between...
02:09I've seen Gage fight a couple times on MVP, and this is the difference is that he has his high guard.
02:16He usually doesn't.
02:16You know, he's usually behind the jabs and setting things up.
02:19But this high guard is a new thing that I've seen with Gage, and he's throwing those shots.
02:24He's sitting down on those big shots.
02:26Yeah, Gage turned pro in 2023 in Edinburgh, Texas.
02:30Gage fought on a couple different shows, had a fight in Costa Rica on a Yocasta Valle, Anabel Ortiz show that Golden Boy put on.
02:41I was there for that.
02:41I was like, oh, I know this kid.
02:42We're in Costa Rica.
02:43You don't see that many people from Long Beach.
02:44I'm from Carson, right next door.
02:45I liked what he saw in his second pro fight is now Avena with some blood from his nose.
02:51So the development of a young fighter is always important.
02:54Most kids his age are still amateurs.
02:58Definitely.
02:58Gage has got the speed advantage for sure.
03:00Very sharp punches.
03:01You know, I like what you said earlier, Jordan, that he, you know, he was imposing on that jab.
03:09And I think he should go, he, I believe that he should be going with that jab instead of just trying to tee off with things.
03:14It's to set up those big shots that he has because he does have a lot of power.
03:18Yeah, I guess he's close to this.
03:20He's got the reach.
03:21He's got the height.
03:22He's got explosiveness, so.
03:24Avena, slipping punches, landing right at the bell.
03:31Avena should be keeping his hands up.
03:40Maybe smother the punches of Gage when he comes inside, when he goes in there so that the power is diminished.
03:49But with Gage, I think the jab, setting things up in the backhand, his overhand, his hook, his uppercut, and his body shots.
03:57Those shots are tremendous shots.
04:00But he has to set it all up with the jab.
04:04I agree with you, too.
04:05I agree 100% on what you're saying there.
04:10You know, Vince is tough and whatnot.
04:11I know they want him to come forward.
04:14They want to bring this fight close.
04:15They want to bring Gage into deep waters and see what he's made of.
04:19I think that's kind of what they're going to be trying to do.
04:21Well, Gage, as a taller guy, you know, you, the shorter guy, you have to make it happen.
04:30Make the fight happen.
04:32You know, go in there.
04:33Keep your hands up.
04:36Either you make a miss or you smother his punches.
04:39You're watching Alexander Gage in the white with the pink trim.
04:45Vincent Avina coming up next.
04:47Joel Iriarte, Golden Boy fighter who's 7-0 with seven KOs against Kevin Johnson.
04:51He's still got Holly Holm against Yolanda Vega.
04:55Our main event here on the Prelimp Show.
04:57Pay-per-view gets going at 5 o'clock.
04:59Go to TheZone.com.
05:00Buy that pay-per-view for Jake Paul and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
05:03Good body shot.
05:08The thing about a young fighter, Jordan, is the way they match you up, right?
05:12You've got to have somebody who's going to give you good rounds.
05:15Both of them are going back and forth, and Avina's a good test for him tonight.
05:19Avina's a very good test.
05:19I mean, he's 8-1, only one loss against another undefeated person.
05:23I mean, he's not no walk-over opponent.
05:26He's got seven knockouts out of his eight wins.
05:28So, very game, very tough opponent.
05:30One thing that I see with Gage is he's doing the same thing over and over.
05:37Body shot, hook, not really setting things up, you know.
05:41And he throws his one-two.
05:43His right hand, he just kind of pulls it.
05:45It's just more of a distraction more than anything.
05:50And then he throws that left hook to the body and maybe an overhand.
05:54But everything that he throws with power is outside from what I'm seeing in this fight.
05:58Good body shot from Avina halfway through the second round.
06:03The youngster's going to the body shot.
06:05Usually, you're 18, 19 years old.
06:07You don't go to the body.
06:08Well, when you have Reynoso's in your corner, you know, like Canelo, he loves that body shot.
06:14Body first, the head will come.
06:15Jason Gallello's an excellent trainer for Avina as well.
06:20This is a real good match.
06:21It's one I'm looking forward to because you see the record.
06:24You see the age.
06:24I'm like, okay.
06:27There's a reason they have it fourth on the afternoon.
06:30Like Avina with his hands down.
06:33And Gage has just missed that right hand.
06:36Ooh, nice body shot.
06:37Look, Avina's confident in that ring.
06:41Doing his own play-by-play.
06:42Eat that body shot, though.
06:43And Gage trying to sit down on his punches.
06:53And it's Gage holding on.
06:54Avery Hernandez having to let him know.
06:56Gage is locked in, and it's Avina.
07:08Who's playing around.
07:10He's playing the mind game.
07:11Yeah, maybe.
07:12And he gets caught with the left hook by Gage.
07:14Hands up, miss.
07:18I'm liking Gage's composure right now.
07:19Not letting that get to him.
07:20Yep.
07:22And he's staying.
07:23Yeah, and he's staying to the game plan.
07:24That's exactly it.
07:25There you go.
07:26A little good counter hook.
07:34Avina looking right at you, Nonito.
07:39A little nod.
07:41A little nod.
07:42You know, and he's doing really well.
07:45He's doing really well.
07:47You know, he just has to be defensively responsible.
07:51Sometimes Gage is throwing those big shots,
07:52and being the taller guy,
07:54he can probably reach you, you know,
07:56and land some big shots.
07:57But what I would say for Gage is,
08:03just throw this jab.
08:04Maybe double it up.
08:05Jab to the body.
08:06Jab to the head.
08:07Play with the jab before you start throwing those big shots.
08:10Yeah, you get a little tricky with it.
08:16You get a little tricky with it.
08:17I agree with you, Nonito.
08:21And you can see he's doing the same thing over and over.
08:23And sometimes doing that, you'll already know the pattern, you know?
08:28He's landing good shots already.
08:29Now, Vince is able to eat them and take them,
08:31but that's round two.
08:32Can he take those same shots, round six, seven, or eight?
08:34That's another question we'll have to see.
08:3819-year-old Alexander Gage, the alley cat.
08:41You see that on his trunks.
08:44It's been on those MVP shows that they've been doing in Orlando.
08:46You're a part of those.
08:48So the development of a young fighter.
08:49See what you're going to do.
08:50Stay composed.
08:51I like the alley cat.
08:55Goodbye.
08:55Said again, working on it.
08:57In the beginning of the game, he's not going anywhere.
09:00Yeah.
09:01One thing that I've seen change in Gage is his right hand is,
09:07he's not really turning his hip as he used to when I saw him in the MVP cards.
09:14This time he's just pretty much focused in turning his hip with the left hook
09:18and the body shot, which is good.
09:20So he's only turning with the left.
09:21Yes.
09:22If you look at it, his right hand is pretty much not as strong as it was back then.
09:29So why would he be doing that?
09:31You know, sometimes the focus is that body shot.
09:34The focus is that left hook that he's trying to land.
09:37And he has a lot of power when it comes down to it.
09:40But when he throws that straight right down the middle,
09:43there's no power in it because he's not turning that hips.
09:46And when you saw him a couple of times ago, he did have that.
09:48He did.
09:49He did.
09:49And he was very dangerous when he countered.
09:51I don't know about you, Donito, but I like Gage better at range than inside.
09:55I know he could fight inside.
09:56He's young and he's got guts and want to go.
09:58But I like him a little more space.
10:00I think he just has the control there and more comfortable.
10:03He has better attributes to be.
10:05He has a little bit mid-range, a little bit of his distance.
10:07I think he gives Vince a better opportunity being close.
10:10I 100% agree with that.
10:12And this is why I always say impose on that jab.
10:15Double it up.
10:15Just like that.
10:16Stay there.
10:16That's where your power, that's where his power is going to be.
10:19By not stepping in, but throwing that jab to set up the big shot because he's a taller guy.
10:24He shouldn't be coming in there and making a fight like he's a shorter guy.
10:29The exchange punches on the inside with less than minutes to go in round number three.
10:33Forget the range now.
10:35Jordan, it's Gage.
10:36He's like, I'll get in there and mix it up with you.
10:38Hey, I like fan-friendly fights, so.
10:40Of course.
10:41I was just speaking from a technical standpoint.
10:42No, no, you're right, though, because that's what he was doing.
10:44Yeah, but I agree with Jordan 100% with this.
10:47It's to keep his distance, you know.
10:49Why smother your punches when you have the distance to land the big shots?
10:53And sometimes they don't see it because you're coming outside.
10:56And when you don't see the punch, guess what?
10:58Night-night.
10:59Yeah, he's got that speed to walk him right into a shot, too.
11:01See, just right now, the distance was so close that he's getting caught with shots.
11:05Yeah, as he's giving Vince a better opportunity, giving him more chances when he's that close.
11:09This is what Vince Alvino wants to do, right?
11:12Rough it up, make it ugly, frustrate you, try to get in your head.
11:16Yep.
11:17And he's more safer inside because he smothers Gage's punches.
11:22Good left hook by the alley cat.
11:25Final seconds of the round.
11:28Another solid right.
11:29And the alley cat with the smile.
11:31He smiled.
11:32He smiled.
11:33But, hey, Vince is coming up, too.
11:34So, you know, he got caught with it.
11:35He countered.
11:36And then the smile came after that.
11:37Hey, Gage did what you asked.
11:39He mixed up a little bit.
11:39That wasn't a normal left hook.
11:41That was more of a chopping left hook to the top of the head.
11:43And then he landed it.
11:44So a little mix-up, kind of what you were asking for.
11:46Right.
11:47Right.
11:47And, you know, it wasn't just the left hook or the body.
11:52It didn't left hook.
11:52He was just, you know, he came in with it.
11:54And he threw it over.
11:55Chopping.
11:56Like you said, it was a chopping one.
11:57It's a different look.
11:58Again, the inside game, this is not his fight.
12:03He shouldn't be doing this stuff.
12:04He should be at a distance throwing his jab, then countering with the bigger shots.
12:09Exactly.
12:09It's unnecessary.
12:10He doesn't need to.
12:11Right.
12:12And that's how he was landing the chopping left hook at the end.
12:14Because he was at a distance to hit with power.
12:18And if one person knows about the left hook, I know it's you.
12:22I know you love the left hook.
12:24I love my left hook.
12:25Yeah, for sure.
12:26Nonito Doner, the Filipino Flash.
12:29Jordan Panton with you here on the broadcast.
12:31Betha Duran.
12:32This is our fourth fight of the afternoon.
12:34Still got Joel Idiarte and Holly Holm against Yolanda Vega to come here on the prelims.
12:39The zone pay-per-view gets going at 5 o'clock.
12:42Oh, good uppercut by Avina.
12:47And not every time, but I don't know if you need to gauge.
12:49Sometimes his hooks are a little wide on the inside.
12:52He's almost slapping a little bit.
12:53Like he's not curling him over short.
12:55That's another reason why he should be a little longer.
12:57Right.
12:58That's why he should be fighting.
12:59He should be fighting at a distance.
13:02Although he does have a tremendous body shot coming in from that distance.
13:05But the left hook is very smothered.
13:09And sometimes it turns into a slap because he's not making it short enough.
13:12Right.
13:12And even his overhand because it's smothered.
13:16You're at a distance.
13:17Oh.
13:18Oh.
13:18Oh.
13:19Avina answers with a hook.
13:20Wow.
13:21After getting tagged.
13:22Hey, Avina can take a punch, though.
13:24I mean, from that inside, he has definitely better chance than being outside.
13:28You know, this is where he should be going and stepping forward and, you know, doing more body shots
13:34and throwing right down the middle as well like he did.
13:38Look, Avina in the silver.
13:39You're going to have no trouble fighting there.
13:41He's going to be right there exchanging with you.
13:43And it's up to the alley cat, like Jordan was saying.
13:45Keep his distance and not smother himself.
13:49Yeah.
13:49Don't smother him.
13:50Land those punches nice and flush.
13:52Yeah.
13:52That might be the trick to put the lights out because, hey, Avina, as we've seen already,
13:56can take a punch.
13:57He can take a punch.
13:58He is a smaller fighter.
14:02The alley cat had trouble making weight.
14:05So, that's another thing.
14:08I think Avina might be upset about that, too.
14:12Well, when you decide for the fight, you decide for the fight.
14:15You know, that's no longer an issue for him.
14:19When you, you know, when you take the fight, you got to go and make it happen.
14:22Yep.
14:23A good body shot, too.
14:25Blood from the nose of Avina.
14:27And he's got a little small cut over his left eyebrow as Gage leans on him, pushes him down.
14:34Andrew Hernandez, Sr. is a referee who does not suffer much.
14:38And he'll get on it right away.
14:40I do have to say, Alexander is doing a great job with his hooks, both sides.
14:43And Vincent's taking notice of it, putting his earmuffs on.
14:46I would love for him to take a hook and then follow up with an uppercut, either side,
14:49left or right uppercut, come through the middle.
14:52I think there's opportunity there.
14:53These are the kind of fights that our good friend, Julius Julianes, would enjoy, man.
14:58With the young prospects going back and forth, not having trouble finding each other.
15:06And head overhand right from Gage.
15:08Again.
15:09Good hook from Gage.
15:11Again, Gage is throwing the jab, but he's stepping in.
15:15And his distance between his jab and his straight are pretty much similar that when he steps in with the overhand, it's smothered.
15:26He's not landing it flush.
15:27He's not landing it flush.
15:28And he's not landing it at a point where it matters, you know, where you get the impact.
15:33Thursday, July 24th, will be an NDO as Gucci, Mandy Flores, takes on Jorge Chavez, Golden Boy,
15:43putting up their prospects against each other in a junior featherweight matchup live on the zone.
15:51Yes, sir.
15:51I'm actually the co-main event on that card, too.
15:53Oh, I didn't want to bring it up.
15:54Is it official?
15:55That's official.
15:56Okay, good.
15:57I was told, but I was told, don't say anything yet.
16:00So you are the co-main.
16:01I am the co-main.
16:01Oh, I said it.
16:02There we go.
16:02There we go.
16:03I was told to say it, so they didn't tell me.
16:06Jordan Pantham, boxer, breaking news reporter.
16:09Aaron, we've got a good scrap breaking out here.
16:12So who are you fighting, Jordan?
16:14I'm fighting a tough guy.
16:15Actually, I do know who I'm fighting.
16:17I just can't really pronounce his name very well.
16:19Okay, there you go.
16:20Ten and one, only one loss to an undefeated guy, never been stopped.
16:24It's going to be a good fight, so I'm looking to put on a show for sure.
16:27There you go.
16:27You'll take off the suit, get back in the ring, July 24th.
16:30Round number five, Alexander Goetsch, the alley cat.
16:34Good against Vincent Avina, trying to get back on the winning side.
16:38See, this is where Goetsch should be doing his thing, by throwing that jab every time.
16:44He's stepping back, throwing that jab should be his main job to do.
16:50You know, he should be throwing those jabs so that he's not behind of things.
16:56Right now, he's letting the other guy, Avina, take control of the fight.
16:59But if he throws that jab while stepping back, I think that he will definitely land those big shots.
17:07Yeah, in my opinion, I think Goetsch has kind of got control of this fight.
17:11Now, you've got two options here.
17:12We can just get this W and win.
17:14Now, if I want to stop him, I've got two options.
17:16Do I just come forward and throw punches and try to overwhelm them?
17:19Or, hey, do I maybe let Avina open up a little bit, try to come at me,
17:24and I walk him into a shot, counter him, catch him flush, put him down.
17:27I might lean towards that.
17:29But either way is a good option.
17:32Avina, back-to-back fights where he's stepping up in competition.
17:35He started his career back in 2018.
17:38Most of his fights have been in Tijuana, including the legendary Big Punch Arena.
17:43But when he went to Puerto Rico last August, that's where he stepped up against an undefeated fighter.
17:48That was the first time he's fought somebody who was undefeated.
17:50And, again, another tough fight here tonight against Alexander Goetsch.
17:55He's coming in as the opponent, but he's giving him good work.
17:59What I want to see, again, with Goetsch's jab to the head,
18:03and something we didn't see at all is jab to the body.
18:06And I believe that he will set up that overhand and the hook
18:09because he'll drop the guard down of Avina.
18:14He's thrown his uppercut twice this round, and he's landed both times, uppercut.
18:18He's only 19, so that's also the development of a young fighter, too, right?
18:23Learning how not to smother yourself, learning how to get rounds, learning how to create that distance.
18:28At 19 years old so far, I think he's doing great, honestly, so far.
18:31I think he's, you know, some stuff that we're pointing out,
18:34but I think he's doing a really good job against, you know, not no slouch of an opponent.
18:38I agree.
18:39You can add Eddie Reynoso to your corner, and you're seeing what those fighters are all about.
18:46That work ethic, just being around in a great gym like that.
18:54You've done that, Jordan, right?
18:55You've gone to different gyms and picked up different things.
18:58Oh, good.
18:59Nice left hook.
19:00I think it stunned him a little bit right there.
19:05You can see the sluggishness movement of Avina now.
19:11You know, maybe he's getting tired, or maybe those body shots are affecting him.
19:14Maybe those big shots are affecting him.
19:16Maybe counter's the way they go.
19:17Alexander's got the reflexes, the speed, and they're supposed to land those counters.
19:21So if he can time something, that might be the answer to catch him off guard,
19:24not see a punch coming for Avina and put him down.
19:27Well, that's the only, that's the biggest thing is the punches that you don't see
19:31is the punches that will take you out.
19:33Exactly.
19:34I mean, as a young fighter, me, myself, I'm always trying to put someone away.
19:37So, I mean, I never really have a decision, so I want to put someone down.
19:41I want to put someone out.
19:42So I'm always looking for the answer.
19:43Even if I'm winning seven rounds, if we're up around, six rounds, five rounds,
19:47I'm always looking, okay, how do I get this guy out of here?
19:49How do I stop him?
19:51That's kind of my goal.
19:53And I feel like that's got to be his goal a little bit.
19:55And he was 5-0-5, knockout's going off two decision wins.
19:58So I don't go personally and ask him.
20:00I just, hey, maybe once he's back in the knockout column.
20:03That's the voice of Jordan Panthen, who's going to be in the co-feature July 24th
20:08right here on DAZN.
20:10And you'll see Jordan.
20:12Jordan, what gym do you work out of?
20:13I work out of Brickhouse Boxing Club.
20:15So you have Surdo there.
20:16You have Scrappy there.
20:17Zerto, Scrappy.
20:18We've got a lot of great fighters.
20:19Eric Kreisner, Golden Boy guy.
20:22Jim made a mind.
20:23We have Arnold Gonzalez.
20:24So there's a handful of us there.
20:27So we've got a great gym, great atmosphere.
20:28You've been sparring with a guy I really like, Fabian.
20:31Oh, yeah.
20:32Fabian Guzman.
20:32Sparring him last week, yep.
20:33I really like his.
20:34Very talented.
20:36Back to your question earlier.
20:37I think going to different gyms and getting different sparring is, I mean,
20:40is a great thing to do.
20:41And California or Vegas is the two best places, I think, to do that.
20:46So you have a bunch of different styles.
20:47That's what it was with me, man, back in 2000.
20:54For me, I traveled from all over the place.
20:58You had to.
20:59You've got to get great sparring.
21:00You've got to get hard sparring.
21:01You've got to fight different styles and whatnot.
21:03The only time the hard sparring, great sparring is not good is if you're getting the SHIT beaten out of you.
21:09So if that's not happening, it's a great thing to do.
21:12You don't want to take wars in the gym.
21:13But if you're having a tough, hard sparring, but, you know, you're not getting the crap beat out of you, then.
21:18Oh, there's that outlap by Gage.
21:22That's what you've been looking for, Jordan, and it finally connected.
21:25Well, that connects again.
21:27That was a different pattern.
21:29We've seen the hook.
21:30We've seen all of that stuff.
21:31And that's a push down.
21:31Push down.
21:32But then he came in right down the middle where it was unexpected and landed that big shot that hurt Avena.
21:39That's what I was saying.
21:40And Avena was respecting those hooks from both sides, putting the earmuffs on, and he was preparing for those hooks that Gage had been having success with.
21:48So I think there's an opening to the uppercut up the middle, which, as you see, there was.
21:52And I think he'll be there again.
21:53So I think he's set that up again.
21:56Halfway through round number six.
21:58Solid round for the alley cat.
22:00Gage.
22:01Instead of the body hook, body uppercut might work even better, knowing that the earmuffs is there from Avena.
22:09And a good punch selection right now might be a left uppercut, left hook.
22:12Because now maybe he's thinking about the uppercut now.
22:14He's just going to hit with one.
22:14So go back there, hit him with the left uppercut, then come in the left hook, you know.
22:17When you said that, Nonito, he gave him a different look, different angles.
22:21Again?
22:22He did it again?
22:23Yeah.
22:23It was just right down the middle, too.
22:25I mean, he barely missed.
22:28And I think if he was just a little bit more, it would have been a very, very dangerous punch to take.
22:39He tapped to the body.
22:40That was good.
22:41He doesn't look 19 anymore.
22:43Now he looks like he's at the zone.
22:45Yeah, he's definitely on there.
22:48You know, he's moving smoothly now.
22:50He's very confident now.
22:51He's throwing different kinds of shots.
22:53So that's confusing Avena.
22:55Avena right now is getting caught with shots.
22:58And he's wary of getting caught with that uppercut now, too.
23:01Avena's not messing around anymore.
23:03No more smirk, nor ole, nothing.
23:05Yeah, not like the first two rounds, exactly.
23:08He got the high guard up, swelling on his left eye, bleeding from the left eye.
23:13Combinations again for the alley cat.
23:16Excellent round for the 19-year-old Alexander Getsch.
23:19I like his position right now where he's stepping back.
23:23That right there.
23:24And countering rather than stepping forward and trying to throw all kinds of power shots.
23:29But right now he's just timing him properly.
23:33And he's changing it.
23:34You know, that's a good sign of having change of style and fighting and selective punches.
23:42You know, that's great to see.
23:44No, it's great.
23:45And, you know, no, Avena, depending on his mentality, he might be feeling a little desperate right now.
23:51He might be willing to take a little more chances round seven, round eight, which might allow for him some more opportunities, openings to a counter for Getsch over here.
23:58So, um, it could be, that could be the perfect recipe for a solid counter happening.
24:04Again, that straight right hand and coming in with the left uppercut that just moved and whiplash Avena's head with that uppercut.
24:17I like the distance that, that, that Getsch is, is doing, uh, in that last round.
24:25And we need to see more of that.
24:28But like you said, Avena needs to come in there and make it, make it into a fight.
24:32And also, Nonito, when you go to a new trainer, especially one as respected as Eddie Reynoso, you're learning new things.
24:41So it's not like you're going to make an overnight impact, right?
24:43This is the gradual progression of a young fighter?
24:46A hundred percent.
24:47You know, you just don't learn things of what your coaches are doing.
24:50You know, you're, you're going to have a mix of the things that you've learned throughout your, your, your career and the things that you're learning new, you know, and, and you can mix it up.
24:59But for, for, for Getsch, you can see he's very talented.
25:02He's, he's, he's changing his style.
25:04He's changing his, his game plan.
25:06And it's showing a lot of maturity that we're seeing right now that he's keeping his distance because when he was smothering it, he wasn't landing those shots.
25:14And it's also not like Eddie's working with that many fighters.
25:18He's working with elite.
25:19So for Eddie and his team to take on this young man, that's got to say something, Jordan.
25:23No, definitely, definitely.
25:26Again, I like the distance there.
25:29He's doing it right now, right?
25:30He kind of changed the style a little bit on which I think it might have been official.
25:33He's just kind of, he's, I feel like he's kind of trying to bait Avena to come do something and come in.
25:37Give, give, give, give me a reason.
25:39He's kind of leaning back on his back leg a little bit, Getsch.
25:44And he's not hitting, he's not getting hit with punches like he did earlier.
25:47A good counter.
25:48I think he's looking for that.
25:49Yeah.
25:50Looking for a nice, good counter check left hook.
25:52Getsch coming on strong, closing strong.
25:54So I, I really like the, um, the post that he's doing, you know, with the jab and keeping that distance and punching bigger shots behind it.
26:05Up next, Joel Iviarte and Kevin Johnson.
26:09Still got Holly Holm and Yolanda Vega to come here on the prelims.
26:13Five o'clock, the zone pay-per-view.
26:16Nice jab.
26:16Yeah, I like that distance that he's doing right now.
26:21It's very mature.
26:23Oh, uppercut.
26:24Oh.
26:25Hooks from Getsch.
26:29Standing in the middle of the ring.
26:31These two young fighters.
26:33See, Vince comes forward like that.
26:34I like that check hook from Getsch and then followed by right uppercut.
26:37I like that specific combo.
26:40Getsch just absorbing whatever Avena's bringing back.
26:44A good overhand right.
26:45Yeah, Getsch looks very comfortable in there.
26:48Very comfortable.
26:49He's just, like, another day in the office.
26:50Knows what he's doing.
26:51Very relaxed.
26:53He's locked in.
26:54Look at his eye.
26:54Look at his stance.
26:55I mean.
26:56Good luck from Getsch there.
26:58That's pretty much it.
26:59You know, he's, he's, he's, he's getting the right timing.
27:02He's getting the right distance.
27:03But because he's using that jab to gauge the, the distance so that he can land those big shots.
27:10And he's landing those big shots.
27:12And he's stepping back.
27:13He's not just pushing forward like he did earlier.
27:14Landing the body shots as well is the alley cat.
27:17Leather left hook.
27:19Blood from the mouth of Avena as the final seconds of the round.
27:32I like it.
27:33I like his, his, his change of things.
27:35You know, Avena is a tough guy and he needs to change as well.
27:39But right now, what he's doing, what he's been doing early on wasn't working.
27:42And July 12th, we'll see the third Ring Magazine show headlined by massive co-main events.
27:49Two of them.
27:50Shiraz moves up to 168 to take on Berlanga.
27:54And then Shakur Stevenson takes on Camarón Cepeda for the WBC World Lightweight title.
27:59Blockbuster Night of Boxing in New York.
28:02Available to buy now at DAZN.com slash boxing.
28:06Yeah, two great fights.
28:07I sparred Hamza a couple of times for his last fight.
28:10He's a hard worker.
28:11So, I know the hard work dedication is there every time.
28:15So, I'm excited for that night.
28:17William Zipeda's core.
28:18It's a great fight.
28:18So, great night at boxing.
28:20I'm glad you bring that up.
28:21Where'd you guys sport at?
28:22His 10-goose.
28:2310-goose boxing gym.
28:24Okay, so they brought you in with Boonez?
28:27Yes.
28:27I'm friends with Hamza.
28:29I've been training with him, running stairs and doing beach work for the last couple years with him.
28:33So, yeah.
28:34Oh, so you currently train with him then?
28:36No, he's in Ireland training for this training camp.
28:37His strength coach named Holly works at Brickhouse Boxing Club, and I've run Santa Monica Stairs and done beach workouts with him since 2022.
28:45So, I'm very just familiar with Hamza and whatnot.
28:48Yeah, I've never been around, but what kind of guy is he, though?
28:50Oh, he's super humble.
28:51Very nice guy.
28:52I get along with him great.
28:53Trains hard, which I respect.
28:55If I don't like you, but you train hard, I respect you.
28:57You know what I mean?
28:58So, he trains very hard.
28:59Very humble dude.
29:00I get along with him great and his family.
29:03Yeah, he's a great dude.
29:04So, I'm looking forward to his first showing at 168.
29:08You'll see that July 12th.
29:09That's the voice of Jordan Panthen.
29:11Bethlehem Durant alongside with Nonito Donair.
29:13Nonito, this 19-year-old has really separated himself as we're in the eighth and final round.
29:18Yeah, no, he's definitely changed up his whole game plan by utilizing his distance in combination,
29:25stepping back and not smothering his punches and setting things up.
29:28You know, his right hand is shifting more with it, and there's a lot of power.
29:34When it comes down to that, but because he's stepping back and allowing Avina to step in,
29:40where he, Alicat, is able to counter with the bigger shots.
29:46Yeah, and I think this is a great showing from a young fighter to show this,
29:50to fight one way for five rounds, six rounds, and all of a sudden switch,
29:55and switch to maybe even a more effective or not taking less punishment in the fight,
30:00being able to switch on the dime like that, I think that's a great skill set to show.
30:05No, definitely, because it shows that he can fight inside, he can fight outside,
30:09and he has the ability to change it all up when it doesn't work.
30:13Whatever doesn't work, he goes to the next ways of fighting,
30:17and that's what we're seeing right now with him.
30:19Exactly.
30:19He's really slowed Avina down, who was very cocky the first couple rounds after that.
30:24Oh, nice.
30:24Not as much.
30:25Can you see the wear on his face, swelling on both eyes, blood from the mouth?
30:30What an excellent showing for the young Alicat.
30:33Well, you've got to give it up to Avina.
30:34He's a tough guy.
30:35Yeah, he's tough.
30:35He's a tough guy.
30:36He's just outgunned in this fight by a more skillful fighter in front of him.
30:42But he is definitely still trying.
30:47Yeah, definitely a tough dude.
30:48He took a lot of shots tonight that other people would not be still here for sure.
30:53So, just like that one.
30:55Just like that.
30:57And he's still standing.
30:59And he's still fighting back.
31:00And he's still fighting back.
31:01Yes.
31:02He's a fun fighter.
31:03He's fun.
31:03Definitely got to give big respect for Vincent Avina, who came in to fight.
31:09Avina's a kid that they'll get called back and say, hey, we have a young prospect for you to test.
31:14What do you got?
31:15And if you're not ready to go, he can upset.
31:18So, tonight with Rene Alvarado already.
31:21Yeah, Rene Alvarado.
31:22That's a tough gatekeeper right there.
31:24Controlled it.
31:26It looks like Getch is on his way to another victory in his young career.
31:30Eight good rounds.
31:30Eight good rounds between Anthony Getch and Vincent Avina.
31:50And we will talk to the winner of this fight.
31:54We've got Joel Iviante, Kevin Johnson coming up next.
31:59Saturday, July 19th.
32:23Bam Rodriguez repping the 2-1-0.
32:26Logan is in his home state of Texas with his WBC World Super Flightweight title on the line against WBO champion Kapu.
32:34All part of over 185 or more fight nights a year with your DAZN subscription.
32:41Bam Rodriguez.
32:42That's a name you like, huh?
32:43Oh, yeah, man.
32:44You know, I've been – I mean, he's been incredible, you know.
32:48Again, with Robert Garcia.
32:49That's my brother, man.
32:51We've been working for a very, very long time, so I'm very happy with what I see in Rodriguez.
32:57Yeah, the talented young fighter.
33:01See, Eddie Raynault.
33:02So he'll be busy later on this year?
33:04He will definitely be busy.
33:06Just a little.
33:07Just a little.
33:08A little September fight for him.
33:09Vincent Avina, very, very tough guy.
33:13Yeah, tough dude right there.
33:16I wouldn't mind seeing him again against the undefeated prospect.
33:18He got knuckle marks on his head, man.
33:21That's how tough this dude is, man.
33:22He took those shots.
33:24He landed a couple of zones.
33:26Oh, yeah, he did.
33:26All right, let's hear the results.
33:32Let's go to Big Mo.
33:35And now, ladies and gentlemen, after eight full rounds, we go to the judges' scorecards
33:39for the official decision.
33:41Judges Jerry Cantu and Pam Yahashida see the contest 80-72, while Judge Fernando Villarreal
33:47sees it 79-73, declaring your winner by unanimous decision, Alexander.
33:56Alley Cat Getsch!
34:03So win number eight for the 19-year-old Alley Cat, representing Long Beach and the South Bay.
34:10Avina loses for the second straight time in his career.
34:13He's now 8-2-1, but he holds his head high.
34:17He's a tough dude.
34:18They see Eddie Reynoso with his new young pupil, Alexander Getsch.
34:22Got to get him.
